Avatar n tn This one involves pus in the kidney and surrounding sack. His right kidney, where all of the stones have been, is down to less than 25% output and may have to be removed. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing this and what the outcome might be?
Avatar f tn So my question is has anyone had the blood in their urine and stomach cramps and had something else other than the kidney stones. Also I like to mention that my kidney function test came back fine. I would appreciate anyone's input.

Previously seen questionable indeterminate liver lesion on MRI now determined to be NOT HCC due to stability over time and imaging features. Had surprise wake-up callyesterday 5 am...Left renal colic. Anybody aware of an association between treatment and kidney stones? I've had renal colic before, but this is by far the most painful bout. Hepatologist gave green light for Vicodin or Percocet, which are helping.

Avatar n tn Bladder cancer diagnosis and staging (Beyond the Basics)") Sometimes, the urine appears to have blood in it because there are other red substances (pigments) in the urine. This can happen if you eat an excessive amount of beets (called beeturia), food dyes, or certain medications (such as phenazopyridine/Pyridium®). I hope this helps and i hope u find the answer to your question. take care.
Avatar f tn In February I underwent two surgeries to get rid of 10 stones. Stones sitting in your kidney can cause kidney infections. Your best bet is to see the urologist and take care of those stones. Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn I just wandered if anyone has had kidney stones or bladder stones with NO symptoms, and also whether it is commonplace for people to have crystals in urine - does this necessarily mean stones? Should I be worried that this could signal something worse (like cancer), or would the blood work up have hinted at this? I'm erring on whether to wait patiently for an NHS urologist (could take up to 6 weeks), or whether to investigate this privately, which would mean borrowing money.
Avatar n tn Other causes of blood in the urine are urolithiasis (bladder stones), kidney stones, bladder cancer, or kidney disease, bleeding disorders and others. It is best to take her the vet first thing tomorrow for a urinalysis, X-Ray of the abdomen, and complete blood work. If she has bladder stones thay would have to be surgically removed. Bladder cancer is sometimes visible on abdominal X-Ray, or ultrasound, and is of course serious.
Avatar n tn I had a stone that blocked my kidney and even after blasting would not come out without being scooped out. This was in my left kidney. Kidneys were both checked out thoroughly for damage and other stones - neither of which was found. Questions are...Since it has been two months and I haven't passed any stones are they likely to just stay put? If the larger one gets stuck after I have my surgery will they be able to go in and get it out without cutting me or screwing up the TVT?
Avatar m tn I had kidney cancer and my right kidney was removed in Feb 09. Have been in a clinical trial for 13 months taking targeted chemo to ascertain if the drugs will prevent recurrence or prolong recurrence. CT scans reveal a 4mm stone in my remaining kidney. I also have a high serum creatinine level of 1.99 which means my GFR is also bad. Does a kidney stone (that is in the kidney) have any effect on my creatinine level?
192055 tn?1263555537 I would get to the doc asap. My daughter was diagnosed with "kidney stones" and had recurrent infections, and she ended up having to get her kidney removed. She ignored her symptoms for a long time. I don't want to scare you, she is fine now with her one kidney, but it would have been nice to save it if we could have.I wish you well...
Avatar m tn Therapy for kidney stones depends on the size of the stone and the location. Simple kidney cysts are usually incidental findings. They more common as people age. An estimated 25 percent of people 40 years of age and 50 percent of people 50 years of age have simple kidney cysts. Now, the atypical cyst could also be due to bleeding into a cyst, it need not always be due to malignancy. Further investigations will help differentiate this. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I am planning to go on vacation and am worried I will get deathly ill on vacation. I am thinking this may be kidney stones or kidney cancer. Please give me some ideas. I am a worry wart and this will ruin my vacation.
Avatar m tn My Urologist, my civilian Urologist, that I used a few months ago to remove the 3 stones that were causing me so many problems from March to May of this year is a very "down to earth" kind of guy. He's a straight talker too, which I like very much. When I asked him the question on prevention that you asked me, his answer to me was very honest. He told me that there isn't much you can do to prevent getting kidney stones and if you're prone to getting them, you will.
Avatar n tn Gross hematuria (blood in urine) visible to naked eye is seen in kidney and bladder stones, cancer of kidney, UTI or urinary tract infection, sickle cell anemia, bladder endometriosis (in females), low platelet count, bladder injury and bladder infections. Apart from urine examination, you would need some other blood tests, imaging tests and maybe cystoscopy. Since you also have a sore throat, a streptococcal infection involving both the throat and the kidney should also be looked into.
Avatar f tn I recently had a moderate amount of blood in my urine at that time Kidney Stones were suspected so I had two ct of the kidneys one with dye and one without it shows no kidney stones, but I had a calcification on my left Kidney they said it was pheblia or something like that, but not to worry, And that there was a small stone on the outside of the utera.
Avatar m tn Has anyone here with kidney stones tried vitamin B6 and magnesium to prevent new stones from forming? I read a study that concluded that taking 50 mg of B6 daily with 300 mg of magnesium oxide (one of the least absorbable forms of magnesium) will prevent future kidney stones. I also read that potassium and B6 does the same. Perhaps the magnesium works because potassium is better absorbed if there is sufficient magnesium.
Avatar n tn I had a kidney removed three months ago and have kidney disease in the other. I just had a blood test and again have +2 blood in the urnie. I also now have calcium oxalate crystals. Could the crystals cause blood in the urnie?
Avatar n tn Did he chk for kidney stones? I too had blood in urine. Had a CT scan done & cystoscopy. Make sure they rule out kidney stones. You can have pain in your lower back to pain in your pelvis area as the kidney stone passes through the uretha, if the kidney stone is sharp it will cause blood in urine as its passing & it can take up to 6mths for one to pass. HTH's & you feel better!
Avatar f tn t seem to figure out what was causing it, my mom chimed in and MADE them check for kidney stones and lo and behold, that was it!!! So don't let your docs tell you that they're not going to check for kidney stones or that you can't have them just becuase you don't have the "typical" back pain for them. It can and does happen. Blood in the urine can be one of the symptoms of a kidney stone also, but again, does not have to happen.
Avatar f tn Has she had a CT Scan w/o contrast in regard to the stones? What has it shown? I have an uncommon kidney condition called MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) along with having had out 1/2 my thryoid bcz of nodules that were atpical but my parathyroids were fine and all tests were A-OK that both my Uro and Endo have run inc. a 24hr urine test. Has your daughter had a 24hr urine test? That is important too.
Avatar f tn I wonder if anybody else has experienced diarrhea with kidney stones? I have had upwards of 40 kidney stones in the past four years but somehow still have no answers as to why my body is producing these or how to relieve them. And i never fail to turn up new symptoms or troubles. I have been having dark urine and a lot of kidney pain lately and I'm sure I have another stone working its way out of my kidney...
Avatar m tn Hello, Blood in urine means hematuria. Most often it is related to urinary tract problems like kidney stones, inflammation of urinary tract, prostate enlargement, renal vein thrombosis, certain kidney tumors and polycystic kidney disease, blood coagulation disorders and anticoagulants. With cystoscopy your urologist will rule out any growth or obstruction in urinary tract which can be due to benign growth, prostate enlargement and any malignancy as well. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
