He said that his right kidney is destroyed and that his left kidney has about 25% left. He has a tumor within his bladder and his urine cannot pass thru which goes into his kidney and damages it. When we had Shaggy checked out in May our vet said that it's UTI...because I mentioned to him that he'd pee and then go to other spots and nothing comes out. So he was given anti-biotics. This went on for several months.

Those using Topomax need to be especially mindful about drinking plenty of fluids due to increased chances of kidney stones. Stoney will likely develop if fluid intake is not maintained. Looking forward to weight loss benefit as I gained 30# over the past 4 years on anti-depressents. Has anyone used this for bipolar?
Apparently the Radiologist double checked the X-rays and Ultrasound, and found around a dozen kidney stones floating around in his body. They offered a possible solution of a new diet that breaks down the stones so he can easily pass them. Later that day, Mom gets off work, and it's her turn to visit. This time, she talked with the doctor in charge of the vet. One of Whitmans kidneys was completely shutdown, and the second was not far off.
It's hard because before this happened I told Josh I was going to try to get a refill since he still has his kidney stones and is in pain. I don't know what I'm going to do. I've just been sitting here in a daze. By the way I took vicodin and percocet tonight. Ugh, I'm even shaking my head as I type that. I'm not sure exactly how many I took. Probably around 10.
For years I would pass out for no reason and have bursts of energy then all of a sudden get real tired and would even have trouble w/ my memory and have trouble maintaing weight just all kinds of things and these spells would last for a couple of weeks before I would recover. At the age of 17 I started producing kidney stones and for years I kept switching doctors who just kept dismissing everything.
Now, for the reason I went in the first place. Kidney stones have been fairly common on the male side of my family. I only thought it was a matter of time for me, and when the first one hit recently I was not suprised. I was shocked to find out that the stone was almost pure ephedrine. It was explained to me that ephedrine along with the cola I chased it with raised the acid content of my urine.
So yesterday was my 30th day clean, and lo and behold, I had to go to the doctor for what I thought was kidney stones. I knew what the doctor would try and give me, so I did the right thing and had someone who would not let me take anything with me. I was 99% sure I would have said no on my own, but I thought why take that chance: I ended up telling my doctor I was an addict, which I was scared to do, but he was very supportive.
Six months ago, I was diagnosed with microscopic hematuria (microscopic amounts of blood in urine). The doctor did a number of tests to check for kidney stones, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, etc. and came back with nothing. The cause remains unknown but he checked for major problems and let me go. I am now suddenly wondering if this could be due to HIV. I have never had sexual contact with anyone except my wife and she is the same way.
Her gallbladder was removed 30 years ago and the stones formed. She's 96 now and recently had the stones removed endoscopically during 2 separate procedures. They didn't want to do surgery since they felt the surgery might kill her. Thank goodness that these endoscopic procedures are available. The colonoscopy would never go as far up as to get near the common bile duct.
Hi, I was taken to the hospital by my husband as I could not keep anything down due to severe pain on my lower left side, the pain was kind of like when you get a stich from walking or running too fast...anyway the doctor at the hospital examined me, thought it was kidney stones, but blood work and urine came back fine, had a ct scan the next day and thats when I found out I have an enlarged liver 20cm in the mid calicular plane???
i head for some info thru a nurse friend and told me stuff like liver and kidney problem and a hint of std. but after i read all the so similar stories here, im relieved but still worries a little. there a side of this incident that teaches me to practice more on safe sex, i believe that everythings happens for a reason, and the message for me is to look after my health more, limit encounters and practice safe sex..thanks heavens.....
I think everything is over and I clean up. I walk out of the toilet and in about 2 minutes time the stomach cramp and the fainting sensation comes back (I've fainted only once to date from this and was out for about 15-20 minutes). 6. When I get back to the toilet I have a really violent Diarrhoea episode in pure liquid state.
i'm definitely starting to feel better, but one of my kidneys is hurting. i have a history of kidney stones...maybe 2-3 a year. throughout the withdrawal i've been drinking a metric ton of water every day. is this normal? or is it possible that by drinking al this water i'm flushing out another stone? has anyone else had kidney pain during withdrawals?

The bad part is that the vet did not get clear margins so it is likely that there are still cells in there and it will grow back and may invaid even farther without radiation. I got half of this as a phone message and have been waiting for almost 2 hours for the vet to call me back. I got alot from googling the tumor and dogs. I'm not sure if the radiation will help or what the prognosis is until the vet calls back. Please pray that there will be a way to save Oliver.
I can survive without it but I'm really just tired of one painful thing after another happening...last month it was kidney stones and surgery, this month it's a broken tooth....and that's not even mentioning the daily headaches. I just want to catch a break and I know everyone here can relate. I guess I don't have a question but I need some support to get through until my neuro calls back (yes, I'm a wuss...yes I realize this, lol) and hoping he's willing to be my angel today.
I'm new, I have had stones for over 25 years, and uti's all my life.the older I get the more stones I have.10 years ago they said I had MSK. I'v been through most every thing. I have had a good few years,I guess they were just setting there growing.
The problem with most mineral supplement however is they don't absorb well, and they can contribute to kidney stones because they can raise levels beyond what you need, which will just make the minerals more likely to give you kidney stones, and since you are treating your kidneys have enough to deal with just handling the riba etc. I would try drinking some warm milk before you go to sleep and see if that helps, if you get no relief you may want to see your doctor and discuss it.
I have been to about 30 doctors- including ENT's allergists, neurologists, chiropracters, opthamologists. psychologists, dentists and everything else u can think of. All CT scans, MRI of brain and blood work keep coming back clean and ok. Nothing I try seems to work. There was a period of time about 3 and a half years ago that the symptoms lifted for about 4 months and then it returned full force.
This doctor was positive that I must have kidney stones. After a very brief exam, he sent me to a local hospital for an abdominal/pelvic CT scan. I was feeling so bad I could not think straight and foolishly got the scan. My regular doctor was in disbelief at his quick diagnosis, and said that I got so much radiation for no good reason. I now worry I will develop cancer from this experience and try to really avoid all forms of radition, if possible.
If this applies to you and you had unprotected sex with a heterosexual partner of unknown status, please read on. If you are reading this, you are probably obsessing over the possibility of having contracted HIV and/or are dreading getting an HIV test. However, it is my aim to teach you that you really have nothing to worry about concerning such an exposure. First, HIV is a very difficult virus to transmit sexually.
I must admit that I believe the jury is still out with regards to heart scan, CT angiography and calcium scoring. After Tim Russerts death, I must have received 5-10 question a day feom concerned patients and friends. They all wanted to know if they needed a scan. People who were relatively healthy wanted to know if they were going to die suddenly. The following NY times article does a good job of painting different sides of the story.
i have been checked by 2 heart doctors from columbus ohio and had stress tests and sonogram, passed with flying colors, but the flutters are so scary and especially the last time. i have never almost blacked out. last about 6 seconds. i have read that when this would happen, get checked out. i am scared and wanted to hear an opinion on this. i have had nausea, vomited for 55 days in aow, weight lose, chest pain on left side in middle, but actually sore to touch and if you press in.
Oh and I had terrible morning sickness until like 10 weeks, still get sick every so often, braxton Hicks and kidney stones blah those s u c k had them with my son also!
I was in the ER this summer with a new pain in my lower back and thought kidney stones...Nope not a one....I was told to drink plenty of water and my Dr tests my blood labs and looks for issues with my kidneys every 6 months ...plus I am on a low dose. Not sure if it was my surgery or the TOPAMAX but I sweat now and never did b4....not a lot...so, I did get use to making sure I did not sit in the sun long etc....so that is not an issue for me.
I have alot of heartburn and my ankles are very swollen by the end of the day. I had 2 kidney stones last week and that wasn't fun. I did have another ultrasound though and Avery was doing just fine. I hope the next 3 months fly by. Good luck to you!!
I was in the hospital on Wednesday with kidney stones and man is that painful!! I have gained 20lbs so far, so nothing like the 60 I gained with my DD. At my last appointment they estimated her weight at 7lbs 1oz. She was measuring a little behind, but nothing to be worried about. She has been doing her practice breathing for my last 4 or 5 u/s, so she is def. getting ready!
