kidney-stones

231903 tn?1281482584 The pain that you describe in the flank region that also appears in the back and in the front can be due to kidney stones. You also have a past history of these. Hence there is a high chance of these. There could be an accompanying UTI. A kidney abscess too will cause similar symptoms but will present with a higher fever. The other possibility is that the ovarian cyst has got twisted. The third possibility of endometriosis can be considered if you have pain only around your periods.
Avatar n tn A kidney problem or diabetes.
Avatar n tn Hi, Are there other symptoms present? A kidney stone is a solid mass made up of tiny crystals which may present as abdominal pain, blood in the urine, chills, excess urination at night, fever, flank pain or back pain, painful urination or urinary frequency/urgency. Abdominal CT scan, xrays or ultrasound of the kidneys will confirm the diagnosis of kidney stones. Menstruation problems are hormone and stress related.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies have any of yous experienced the oh-so-lovely pain of kidney stones? Also once it passed how long did kidney pain last? The hospital I attended to didn't help nor my doctor was any help! Thanks!
359937 tn?1220983851 In February 08 I had the same pain but with a fever, blood in urine and vomiting, CT-Scan showed some stones in my right kidney. Well I still have the pain off and on but when I went to the ER in March 08 they said that the stones we not severe enough to need treatment. Can kidney stones cause throwing up.
Avatar n tn I'm a nineteen year old girl. A few days ago, I started experiencing over-all mild, lower back pain. I have back problems, so I just got out the heating pad and didn't pay much attention. But the pain didn't go away and it's been getting worse. It had become concentrated in my lower back to the right side of my spinal cord, right over my hip. Sometimes it does hurt in the right side of my abdomen and in the middle of my back, too. I'm 99% sure it's my kidney.
Avatar n tn I have pain similar to kidney stones in both of my kidneys. They did a CT scan and couldn't see any stones. They tested my urine and blood for many things but couldn't find anything wrong.
535822 tn?1443976780 I took ibuprofen and the fever broke that night. I went to the beach the next day and seemed ok, but the fever again spiked that night back to 102.8. It did this over the weekend so I went back to urgent care on Monday. That doctor said the same thing about my urine and put me back on cipro for 5 days. I had the CT scan and it showed the normal stones on both sides, but no blockages. Of course I never had a fever when going to the doctor because of the ibuprofen.
Avatar n tn I am 38 years old with 5 children. I have a long history of back problems including 2 disc surgeries. But this is different. Sometimes I flare up but it only lasts a couple days. I am going into day 14. I presented to ER with severe back pain on right side wrapping around to front. I had a catscan to check for stones. No stones. However I had White blood cells in my urine. Urine culture came back negative. Had a U/S for gall bladder. No stones. Dr.
Avatar f tn as long as you have a normal kidney on the other side. Certainly the pain your having could be from ureteral stones, and ureteroscopy is preferred in lower ureteral stones in child-bearing age women because lithotripsy may bruise the ovaries if used for lower ureteral stones. Infection is unlikely as infection and an obstructing stone usually leads to a high fever and is an emergency.
Avatar n tn A urinalysis, urine culture, kidney, ureter and bladder scans may help rule out an infection or urinary tract stones. Kidney stones leading to kidney infections may lead to fever, nausea and vomiting. I suggest you seek immediate consult since you may need oral medications. Do keep us posted.
192055 tn?1263555537 I would get to the doc asap. My daughter was diagnosed with "kidney stones" and had recurrent infections, and she ended up having to get her kidney removed. She ignored her symptoms for a long time. I don't want to scare you, she is fine now with her one kidney, but it would have been nice to save it if we could have.I wish you well...
280369 tn?1316702041 Kidney infections and kidney stones are as painful as labor. With a kidney infection you would have a fever and other signs of infection. You also would be tender to the touch about half way up your back on either side of your spine. I had a kidney infection and it makes you puke and feel like you are being stabbed to death, you have a fever and feel horribly horribly sick. Kidney stones you have horrible pain that you are pretty sure you will die from.
Avatar n tn Hello! Having experienced both gall bladder problems and kidney stones, I'd bet you passed a kidney stone ...Before this happens again, go to your doctor and get a urine screen funnel...When you have another episode, if it is like the two you have had before, drink as much water as you can hold down, (this flushes the bugger out), and urinate through the screen...this will catch any stones that come out...If your pain continues, get to the emergency room!
540521 tn?1221699706 I have not yet passed the stones and i am still getting pain and the stones will not pass. The stones seem to bother me the most when i am standing and being active, Can kidney stones lead to kidney Failure? How much worse can this get? Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with kidney stones almost 3 years ago but I did not get them removed as my Dr told me they could not kill me or cause any life threatening diseases, but recentley I have noticed a little bit of stomach discomfort, I would like to say pain but it doesnt hurt , it kind of feels like something is there like gas, and my stomach gurgles a little bit and once in a while I will feel a little bit of a slight pinching pain in different spots over my belly , it feels like its through the b
Avatar f tn ve heard they are. I get kidney-stones chronically, and from time to time, a get one that causes intermittent (colicky) pain that's quite bearable. And another thing, not all kidney-stones cause hematuria (blood in the urine). If your doctor thinks that all stones cause blood in the urine, then I'd say that you need to get yourself another doctor that know what the hell their talking about, because she obviously doesn't.
Avatar f tn I went to doctor with back pain. they think its kidney stones, going for cat scan. I have been tired / lack of enegy as well over last several weeks. I just got blood test back and I have high neutrophils 76.1 low lymphocytes 17.7 and monocytes 6.2 (WBC 13.2) google is a scary thing, all kinds of horrible things are coming up when I search for what this could be all about if not kidney or in addition to. Can you help?
895634 tn?1283989210 Update: Week 27 of 48. UND, sides well-comtroled. Previously seen questionable indeterminate liver lesion on MRI now determined to be NOT HCC due to stability over time and imaging features. Had surprise wake-up callyesterday 5 am...Left renal colic. Anybody aware of an association between treatment and kidney stones? I've had renal colic before, but this is by far the most painful bout. Hepatologist gave green light for Vicodin or Percocet, which are helping.
362203 tn?1248810310 t come down and severe vomiting and abdominal pain and they discovered her kidneys are just loaded with kidney stones and she has a large one blocking her urinary tract. They did surgery to put in stint's to drain off the infection and they will wait about 2 weeks to remove the stones. The doctor said her body is just producing A LOT of stones and she'll have to change her diet and take medication to help stop it. Thank God they figured it out.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been diagnosed with several unobstructive kidney stones on my left side. I have no fever...I went to the er and a ct scan showed a 3 cm cyst on my left ovary in addition to revealing the stones (right kidney). I am bloated and aching, and my back and entire abdomen hurts. It's been over a week and half...I am on an antibiotic as well as percocet as it is the only drug that takes the edge off. My question is, how much longer will it take for the stones to pass?
Avatar f tn I had the same symptoms last year and it turned out to be kidney stones. I didn't want to take the time to go for the tests (I had the exact same symptoms (I can sympathize with your pain)). It took intolerable pain and severe flu-like symptoms (back pain, abdominal pain that traveled down my right leg, nausea, vomiting, severe headache, high fever) to finally get me to go to the hospital. They found the 100% blockage in my right ureter via CT Scan with contrast.
Avatar f tn I'm a 53 yo female with a recent history of recurring flulike illness with vague abdominal pain, nausea, malaise, one time a slight low-grade fever. This has happened three times this summer, each time lasting a week. I had an abdominal ultrasound last week that showed mild hydronephrosis of the right kidney and a small, nonobstructing stone. My doctor doesn't think these findings mean anything or even need to be investigated.
Avatar f tn had the ct scan yesterday and they found nothing. No kidney stones, appendix looks ok and no ovarian cysts. I feel like I am back to square one! Went straight back to the doctors in the afternoon and she is puzzled. She said she wants to look at the ct scan/analysis herself and to see me again on Monday. She's given me some extra pain killers and told me to take the following. 8x paracetamol, 3x diclofenac, 4-8 codeine a day.
Avatar n tn Crystals may also be noted in the urinalysis .In severe cases, kidney stones may present with dull back ache, fever and chills. The CT scan will be able to determine involvement of other structures. Also, a hemogram of the blood cells may help. The appearance and size of these red blood cells may help determine if there is kidney involvement or not. Hematuria may also be a manifestation of kidney inflammation. Urine protein levels my need to be ascertained.
Avatar f tn I live with kidney stones and have been for years. Does anyone know what is good to eat to help prevent stones? All I can find online are foods that I can't eat.
Avatar n tn Still sounds like something with the kidneys. Are you on any medications? Some medications can cause kidney pain, even after you have been on them for a while and have been fine. Some acid reflux meds can do that. Best to be checked out by a Dr. Also examine your lifestyle. You may be abusing yourself with something, food, drugs, alcohol, etc. Everyone has a different tolerance.
509877 tn?1315361694 She had kidney stones...lots of them. Back then, they opened you up surgically to remove kidney stones. She had multiple operations to remove the stones. Eventually, they removed all of her parathyroid glands except one...they regulate the calcium in your body. They put the last parathyroid gland in her forearm, so they could get to it easier surgically in case her calcium rose again. In time it disappeared, but she keep having high calcium levels and kidney stones.
