6990909 tn?1435275816 I have PsA so am always looking for dietary stuff to help. I looked it up to see what it is and it said high fat, adequate protein, low carb diet. I do the low fat, low carb, minimal dairy, no sugar diet right now. What kind of fats are they talking about? The treatments (Humira, Methotrexate, ect) are the same for RA and PsA so Im thinking dietary treatment may be similar. In terms of supplements, I do the high doses of Tumeric and Krill oil.

Tbd key words will be low-carb, and keto. If you do look into ketogenic diet, do not use it as an excuse to eat too much fat; if you want to lose weight fat has to be limited to fats that come naturally with the foods that you eat, rather than lots of extra fats being added. There are now many cases where this has happened (you can look up Virta Health a company that tries to guide patients to do this), and there are also many online supportive communities.
Tbd Eat low carb / ketogenic diet. Avoid or strictly sugars, grains, starchy vegetables, and sweet fruits. Use a blood glucose meter to determine the effect of your diet on your blood sugar. This will help you fine tune what foods do and don't affect your blood sugars, and to what degree.
Tbd Many chose a new way of eating (WOE), LCHF (Low Carb High Fat). as diabetics it is carbs that raise BG, eating low carb works well for controlling BG. The "eat low fat" mantra is based on BAD science. even the US CDC says cholesterol in the diet is not a concern. Tbd Some people, including me find that a ketogenic diet (focusing on very low carb, moderate protein, and unprocessed natural fats) is helpful for blood sugar. Avatar n tn I personally eat a Ketogenic diet of 20g or less net carbs a day. Most of my diet comes from meat, cheese and non-starchy vegetables. Avatar n tn A little while ago i had a nondiabetic doctor recommend a low carbohydrate diet to help keep my blood sugars low and when i mentioned it to my endocrinologist she said that that type of diet puts extra strain on the kidneys and since diabetics are already prone to kidney problems they should avoit it. i would recommend that at your next doctor appointment you ask to be referred to a dietician to go over the proper diet aspects for a diabetic.
