keppra xr generic

My son was on Keppra, (750mg 2X day) his doctor changed him to KeppraXR same dosag because he was having more seizures. Since he has been on Keppra XR, still seizures and constant jerking movements in hands and very unsteady when standing. Not getting enough sleep @ night. Took him to ER last night, increase dosage to 2000mg per day. His hands jerk from about 11am to about 7pm or 8pm, then he has a seizure. Sleeps about a hour & half. Have anyone had these problems taking Keppra XR?

ALSO, SHE HAD GAINED ALOT OF WEIGHT ON DEPAKOTE XR, KIDS MADE FUN OF HER THAT SHE WAS FAT...NOW, ON KEPPRA XR, SHE ONLY EATS HALF OF WHAT SHE DID ON DEPAKOTE AND IS A SLENDER 5'11 TEENAGE GIRL.

I am also currently in the same page. Taking keppra xr 3,000mg which helped but has not fully controlled my partial siezures so recently I just got added to vimpat as well. And want to get pregnant. Also on giving your child epilepsy I've been informed that it is not inherited. Hope to hear more about your story.

My dr gave me samples of generic effexor xr the other day to try, over the weekend i took them and had the most awful headaches...Im so afraid to take them now..Ayone heard anything about these?

25mg 3-4 times a day (purepac from Walgreens) I have switched to Xanax XR .5mg 2 a day (greenstone, from Walgreens) The XR version of Xanax doesn’t kick in as fast as the regular Xanax but it does last a lot longer with less ups and downs. Just a thought for you to discuss with your doctor P.S. Greenstone is a subsidiary of Pfizer so I hear they are highly recommended.

I was prescribed Keppra for my chronic headaches. I also suffer from generalized anxiety disorder and depression, secondarily. While taking Keppra, my mood was very erratic, irritable, depressed (very), and a lot of other unpleasant psychological side effects. I'm wondering how often this happens with Keppra. Were you taking the XR Venaflaxine or the standard? My insurance only want to cover the non extended release generic but I tried it for 6 months. I was annoyed at having to take it twice a day but for $37.50 for 90 days vs $90 for 90 days I was willing to do it. Problem was it gives me mild nausea when I took it with a big meal and severe nausea if I took it on an empty stomach or even with with a smaller meal. I just couldn't tolerate it so I went back to the generic XR capsules.

My son was dx with Seizures in October they started him on Keppra 3 tablets 750mg XR at 7pm. My son was the most cheerful lovable respectful great student, all around the best child you would want to be around. My son has turned into a ranging machine, he went from straight A's in school to failing, he has zero interest in getting out of bed, showering, eating all of the above.

Why not Generic Effexor XR? It comes in a generic now.

Viepax is simply a new generic version of Effexor XR (Extended Release) The active ingredient is Venlafaxine. (Same as in Effexor XR) The patent on Effexor XR ran out about 8 months ago and now other pharm companies can make generic extended release Effexor. In the last 7 years Effexor XR has made Weith Pharm company 3.5 Billion dollars per year. That Billion not Million. Now you can see why other pharm companies are so eager to get their generic version to market.

True, there is no generic for XR (extended rlease), however, there is a generic for just Effexor and it is called Venlafaxine in tablet form. You may have to take more than one tablet per day to get the same extended effects, I don't know. Also, have you thought about getting your doctor to write you a 90 day prescription and purchasing mail order from Canada? It is so much cheaper. You can pull up Canadian Pharmacy on the web and get prices for generic and name brand.

What Hensley says sounds great. Weren't you on Effexor XR before. Maybe you won't be able to take the generic. I took Wellbutrin for awhile, tried it again years later and thought I was losing it.

He was put on keppra and had about 3 seizures the first year and then I fought for name brand instead of generic. When he started name brand he was seizure free for 15 months. I was so thankful then out of nowhere he had 2 grand mals in less than a week. His dr.increased his keppra to the max of 3000 mg. A day. He also gave me the choice of adding depakote we but said the increase in the keppra would take about 2 wks. To reach max .

I am sorry but I can not give you any insight into keppra or depakote, both of them did not work for me. I believe that I maxed out on keppra. Dilantin worked for about 8 or 9 years before it started to not control mine anymore. I am afraid the only way to see if depakote or any other drug is is just give it a shot. There is no other way to know if it will work for you or not.

My son is 19 years old and has Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, he's on Keppra XR, Clonazepam, and Banzel. There's a chance lamital will be added. Is this too many meds. I have heard 2 or 3 meds at one time, no more. What affect does the drugs have on LGS?

put on Keppra- felt awful for 2 weeks, then started taking the fioricet again. I am still on the Keppra as well as Wellbutrin XR. I would suggest talking to your doctor about trying keppra xr. Lamictal is a great drug, but it also exacerbates myoclonic jerks, which are a warning a big seizure is coming. Don’t give up hope. I suggest a descriptive headache diary. The answer will be in there somewhere!

Yes, I agree w/ the generic thing. They offered me generic, but I refused. I hope you feel better. I know exactly how your are 'feeling'... I have to say that I feel better on Effexor XR and my family also sees a big difference. I can tolerate things much better, and will ask to go to 75 in a couple weeks. I was told my my pharmacist that Effexor XR and the generic is made my the same manufacture. The price is the same to me under my medicare plan except less money is applied toward the medicare "gap" so I choose the generic. Insurance is such a scam. If it were you or me we would be up on racketeering charges. Pharmaceuticals have big bank accounts and politicians have deep pockets.

Barbara- I tapered Effexor with a lot of difficulty. When I went off for two days, I was nuts, crying all the time and having the brain zaps. So, my psych put me on prozac for a few weeks. So far, it has helped a lot. I plan to go off all anti-depressants to get pregnant, but if you need something just to bridge the gap with Effexor, which is an SNRI, then prozac helps, even though it's an SSRI.
