keppra for headaches

I am, and have been on Keppra for almost 5 years. Started at age 23 and I am now 28. At the beginning they made me very sluggish, but after about 2 months I felt wonderful (since it was the first time in my life I wasn't having seizures!!) I have noticed the following: quick to get angry, short tempered, excessive crying, like to focus on negative conversations rather than the positive, I complain a lot, and I take it out on the ones I love most.

dizziness, nausea, headaches and drowsiness. i never got over the headaches and drowsiness but the others went away when my body got used to it.

Starting around two years ago, I noticed that alcohol doesn't get me drunk, or even tipsy -- it just gives me body aches, headaches and fatigue. There's no lowered inhibitions or warm, fuzzy sense of well-being or any of the other things people want from drinking. No matter how small or large the amount.

I was prescribed Keppra for my chronic headaches. I also suffer from generalized anxiety disorder and depression, secondarily. While taking Keppra, my mood was very erratic, irritable, depressed (very), and a lot of other unpleasant psychological side effects. I'm wondering how often this happens with Keppra. I have since stopped taking it. Thank you.

I have tonic-clonic seizures, and absence seizures generally. I have headaches that cause blurry vision. I see these color blobs that move in my vision that shouldn’t be there, they don’t show any connection to stimuli so I don’t have synesthesia. I’m on levetiracetam aka keppra and clobazam aka onfi.

Once you have the grand mal seizure, you want to do everything possible NOT to experience that feeling again. I was very weak feeling on Keppra for 4-5 months, then it got a lot better. I do experience slight headaches, but nothing like i was before I was on it. And I have problems walking through aisle's at stores (I get kinda dizzy too). But again, Ill take that over having seizures.

The only times the seizures would happen was when I woke up suddenly, in the morning. The medication I was given is levitiractam (keppra) 500mg twice a day, which i have been taking for about two years, My questions are: how does keppra help against seizures? What does it mean to suddenly be diagnosed with seizures?(even though the MRI and EGG and other tests show normal) Sometimes when i am walking to school i feel dizzy even though i take my medication. Why is that?

It is GREAT for migraines but not for the Chiari headaches. I have very few breakthrough migraines, but I still get the Chiari headaches everyday. I don't see any side effects with the topamax...I really like it!!! As far as the disability question...from what I understand, getting on disability for Chiari is very difficult and can take a long time. I have not tried and I still work every day. I have no choice but to work. It's a struggle but I have to do it.

I then weaned off the Depakote and went on to 1500 mg of Keppra and 100 Mg of Seraquel and went off of the Trazadone as Dr. Aurora said Trazadone causes headaches. She also said try EMDR therapy. We did 2 Keppra infusions and it brought my headache twice down from a 10 to a 6. Then I still went back up to a 10 and I was told to go to the ER by the Swedish clinic. I went to the Swedish ER. They gave me a Keppra infusion, Benadryl, and Toradol.

I have no health insurance. I was finally got a really basic coverage, but it doesn't cover keppra. i've been taking keppra for a 2 months. I was switched to phenobarbitol for when I run out. since keppra is not on the charity's formulary. I hope to God that I cant find some source of keppra before I run out. The phenobarb is scary. I have been treated for tension headaches and migraines since 2009. I was diagnosed with JME when I was 13. I'm currently on 150 topamax and 500 lamictal for seizures. I have tried antimigraines, analgesics, muscle relaxants, nonsteroidal-anti-inflammatory and steroids, ssnri antidepressants and obviously acetaminophen and aspirin for headaches . I have one every single day but the severity of it varies. Within the past few days I have noticed slight shaking and weakness in my hands.

t do my job any more now when I concentrate I get a bad headache it hurts all the time I am seeing a nuroigist at OHSU she thinks that my pain resistors are screwed up from surgery and meningitis I had Botox injections a month ago and I feel that they are not helping a few days ago we took a vacation I live at 4000 feet we went to the beach we got there I was a little light headed but felt good we stayed for 6 days I had some headaches but I was much better we headed home and at about 2000 feet

Continued with Keppra and Di Tan Tang 2X/day each for another 8 days. Then took her Keppra down to 1/day for 2 weeks. Then she went one day with no Keppra and the next day she had a seizure. This seizure was longer, but her disorientation was shorter. Vet then said to go back to giving her Keppra for 30 days and we will re-evaluate. So for the next 30 days she was taking Keppra 1/day and Di Tan Tang 2/day.

L and he took me off all pain meds and put me on Keppra, I have to say that so far it does help with the headaches. I am now starting to notice at night when I have been in bed for about 15 min my ENTIRE body starts to ache, from head to toe. It is so bad that I can't sleep and want to cry. Does anyone else have this happen to them? It also does it at my desk if I sit to long. I asked my new Neuro about the pain and he said that I need to see my PCP becauce he only deals with headaches.

I have had my pup in Keppra for one year. Given he is only 18lbs, the dose was prescribed in liquid form which was impossible to manage, especially for the dose required In The middle of the night. I called everyone I could think of and found an accredited pharmacy (Wellness pharmacy) who was able to purchase the powder from the manufacturer for me. They made capsules with the dose I needed for my pup and life got better! I don't know what I would have done otherwise.

I took Keppra for 3 weeks & it made me very sick. I should have told my Dr. that I was sick immediately. It has been 3 weeks 3 days since I stopped & I'm still nauseated & having chest pains. My Dr. said I should have stopped immediately. Now I am suppose to take Oxcarbazepine. I'm scared. Good luck with keppra. I hope yur son tolerates it better than I did.

I'm on keppra. So far so good. I used to be quite irritable but once I understand that it was the side effects of keppra, I got hold on myself and tried my beat to be aware of my reactions to others. Reading Dale Carnegie's " How to stop worrying..." helps a lot in my recovery process. I've been on keppra for about two months. Anyone been on keppra for a longer period?

I have had these problems for 20 some years due to brain damage and keppra has not made it worse or changed anything for me though. I am on a high dose and on other seizure meds. You may want to see about a mood stabilizer for her I know she is young it may or may not work. If it is the med maybe switch meds no one needs to feel that way and I know from experience it's not fun not being yourself and putting others through it.

Also, I wanted to know if anyone has tried Keppra for seizure activity in dogs and if so, how did that work? Our 6 year old French Mastiff had a seizure on Thursday night - first one ever. He walked across our bedroom floor, stood in front of our open door and acted like he saw someone in the hallway. I sat up and said "Archie, there is no-one there. Go back to bed." Then he looked like he was rubbing his shoulder on the clothes hamper and I thought it looked really weird.

My son is on keppra (has been on it for only 3months), he also takes B6 for the aggression and it seems to help. However, I have also noticed more instances of learning delays and mood swings where he hits his head on the wall or throws himself down. I know my dr said that he would get better the longer he is on it, but sometimes it seems to get worse. You should ask your dr about vitamin B6.

no not on wellbutrin any longer, i started it long before I started Keppra. I've been on keppra for almost 2 months now. You would have to speak to your doc regarding any other AEDs that would work without effecting your daughters mood. so far havent recieved any benefit from lamictal as far as mood stabilizer goes but its only been 2 wks and I'm slowly increasing my dose. side effects of Keppra seem to contradict what our goals for mom are....memory loss, mood changes, mental changes and vision changes among others. Is Keppra safe to use for this (it is not being used with any other seizure medication....just by itself)? We want to wean her off, but the doctor is wanting to keep her on it.
