Avatar n tn I'm not sure if this is under the right topic, but I have unilateral joint pain on one side of my body (left). My knee, my elbow and recently within the last couple of days, my wrist, are all painful. I have noticed that my knees and elbows started hurting intermittently a year ago, but it's gotten progressively worse in the past month or so. I have started taking Schiff Move Free, but it only helped somewhat, and only when I took double the dosage amount.

Avatar m tn Sorry to red your hands are useless. To try and get some relief, have you tried taking an over the counter pain reliever that is formulated for arthritis? What about topicals? Have you tried using the arthritis heat wraps? All of these things helped me until I could get a diagnosis. I see you had some lab work, did you also have x-rays? I see you are in the UK, I know the health system is different there, can you see another doctor?

Avatar f tn ve found that none of these narcotic pain meds help much with the joint pain, not like they do with the nerve pain from the spinal damage. The NSAIDs that I took before I knew I had HCV helped a lot more with joint pain than the narcotics do. But that may just be me.
Avatar n tn It can be due to sciatica, arthritis(osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis),trochanteric bursitis(Inflammation of the sacs or space around the joint), Tendinitis from repetitive or strenuous activity, strain or sprain of the muscles due to its overuse or infection of the hip joint leading to necrosis. Since it is sharp stabbing pain,so chances of sciatica are more. Without physical examination it is very difficult to make a diagnosis.
Avatar f tn If you are taking pain reliever and have taken antibiotics and you are having a reoccuring fever of 99.9 F or more, then this could indeed be a problem. The only way to know if it is viral or you need an antibiotic is for the doctor to run some blood tests to see if your body is fighting off any illnesses. But also if you are on osteoporosis medications currently, the medication you are taking could be causing your symptoms.
Avatar n tn Cracking sound in hip joint generally indicates arthritis (possible at your age too and can be managed by medications). Hip joint pain can also be due to old fractures, avascular necrosis of head of thigh bone (poor blood supply), muscle strain, inflammation of tendon and even due to sciatica. An X-ray of the joint, followed by MRI of the joint and lower spine, and nerve conduction studies may be required for confirmed diagnosis. Apart from these it can also be a pinched nerve.
Avatar f tn I had to go to a pain management doctor-the duragesic patch did nothing and I ended up on 60 mg of Morphine Sulfate CR which worked fine but I was afraid of becoming addicted so I kept complaining until the doctor dropped me. I went to another pain management doctor and was told I had Fibromyalgia and prescribed Lyrica which caused my feet and hands to swell but did nothing for the pain.
1187318 tn?1266384482 Hello. My name is Kate. I am 26 years old with a recent history of Ovarian Cancer, Stage IIC. I just finished up chemo in April. About 2 weeks ago, I woke up with severe lower back pain shooting down my leg/foot. After about 4 days, I went to see my regular MD where I was placed on 6 days of steroids, anti-inflammatories, and a mild pain reliever. Days 2 & 3 of steroids I had no pain. Then the pain came back. My MD had me do a MRI of my entire spine.
Avatar m tn This drug is commonly used for arthritis in dogs. It is a pain reliever plus anti-inflammatory. On NO ACCOUNT ever use human painkillers for dogs (with the exception of Junior aspirin, they can be dangerous) Have you tried Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplement? This is not a drug, as such, but a natural substance obtained from shellfish, and often has very good results with arthritis.
Avatar f tn There is a strong possibility it is costochondritis (inflammation of the joint between rib and sternum. The inflammation around the joint area gives sharp pain on taking a breath. This can also cause tenderness on pressing the area which pains. An orthopedic doctor can diagnose this for you. You can try OTC anti-inflammatory + pain killer like ibuprofen, heat compress and local analgesic spray or cream. If symptoms persist consult an ortho specialist.
Avatar n tn My boyfriend have been experiencing very severe muscle/joint pain all over the body 4 days ago and still is. He's 25 and his body is killing him because it is difficult for him to walk or even wake up in the morning. He is eating Tylenol (1000mg every 4-6 hours) to relieve some of his pain but once the effect of the Tylenol is gone, the pain comes back again. He also have arthritis so the pain is even worst.
Avatar f tn Yes Tylenol is the main approved pain reliever just be sure to follow the label.
Avatar f tn Have you tried any nsaids like ibuprofen or motrin for it? That would reduce any internal immflamation and acts as a pain reliever. Does it do anything for you? There are other meds they might use but this is where I'd go first for sure. Then if that doesn't work, they do have other things you can try . . . even physical therapy! An oral splint. Etc. Surgery is a last option in my opinion. Anyway, those are some ideas for you to start with. Tell me what you think and how you are.
Avatar f tn I have about a quarter size, maybe a little smaller lump under the skin in my right leg just above my ankle, that area only hurts if i run, jog, speed walking, it then goes numbing and tingling also. ice, heat, pain reliever doesn't work. the doctor is unsure if what it is and ordered an x-ray to make sure its not a bone but its not completely hard and is a little movable. anyone have a clue to what it is.
