Avatar n tn I am 20 years old and my rheumatologist recently diagnosed me with undifferentiated seronegative arthritis. I have had joint pain for a long time (through childhood) and recently it has suddenly gotten a lot worse very quickly. My blood tests came back with negative rheumatoid factor. I had a bone scan and multiple joints lit up strongly. I also have joint damage to several joints that showed up on an x ray.
Avatar f tn Arthritis is a degenerative condition, and pain is usually long term requiring lifestyle adjustments or management. The use of the joint can be improved by strengthening surrounding muscle tissue and things like good quality shoes, etc.

Avatar m tn I had one doctor acuse me of faking to get pain killers because I have no joint swelling. But my regular doctor believes me because I rarely take pain killers despite the pain and don't refill my prescriptions as often as a I should. I have been told by two doctors I don't mange the pain correctly. I am working to change that but I am very frustrated with things at this point. I hear more and more about others going through the same issues.

Avatar n tn I am seventeen years old. Over the past several months (probably since late October or early November,) I've been having severe joint pain and swelling, accompanied by chronic fatigue, headaches, limited range in movement, and occasional fever and/or nausea. I also have a very hard time sleeping, and have experienced what feel like heart palpitations, or racing of the heart at completely sporadic times.
Avatar n tn Severe (external) swelling of the elbow joint (golf ball size)…no pain, but inflammation; thought it may be related to tennis elbow, but learn later that the condition is not tennis elbow related. Condition has existed for a couple of weeks now. Want to know the medical term for this condition and is there a cure?
Avatar m tn I too have migrating joint pain, but no swelling. I take Celebrex and it controls the pain nearly 100%. I was taking pain meds, Oxycodone, lowest dose. But that didn't work as well as Celebrex. So now it's just the Celebrex.
Avatar f tn My husband only is wearing the braces. For pain and swelling he just takes advil/motrin. His swelling is not bad when he wears his braces. He is concerned when he takes his braces off of a swelling/bump on the lower outside part of his knee cap. Coming down the stairs Saturday his knee gave way and he fell the last couple of steps down the stairs, this is worrying him. If I understand you correctly my husband knee could have arthritis in it and his x-ray and MRI would not show anything.
Avatar n tn I was hoping someone would have any potential explanation as to why I have been suffering from joint pain since I was about 13. I am 23 now, and the pain is more prevalent. Arthritis and lupus have been ruled out from testing. My only symptom is joint pain in my ankles, knees, hips, wrists, and elbows, that lasts anywhere from minutes to months. No rash, stiffness, or swelling.
659496 tn?1288885852 Saw the dr Monday. She said joint pain is normal and due to swelling. Also said there's not much to be done about it. But I've read watching your sodium intake helps. She also said it will be worse with warmer weather, so soon as the temperatures drop, swelling will go down. Just be sure to take your rings off before they get stuck on ;). Magda: I did read where excessive swelling is an issue and should be brought to dr's attention. Oh and the soles of my feet hurt everyday!
Avatar m tn I would suggest going back to the doctor and having futher test done to find out what is causing the swelling and joint pain. It could be any number of things but to make a correct Dx you really need additional test done. How are the medications your taking working? Keep us informed and let us know if we can help.

Avatar f tn I was reluctant to take ibuprofen as I was nursing and was being old school after a car accident and it was a physical therapist who made sure I knew that one of the functions of nsaids and ibuprofen was reducing swelling and if something is causing pain, it is often because of internal inflammation in that area. Controlling that will help healing. Worked for me! Sorry you are having this problem . . mom's need to be mobile and pain free. Let me know how it goes!

Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. Sudden onset multiple joint pain can be due MS, lupus, STD, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, viral fever, chronic fatigue syndrome, or rheumatism. It can also be reactive arthritis due to allergy to something or in reaction to an illness, fever or autoimmune disorder. In your case it is probably a reactive arthritis. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
