Avatar f tn I have felt pain on and off the entire time since but this weekend I got to where I could hardly open my mouth to eat without having a lot of pain. I know I need to go to the doctor but I do not have the money to go. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas to ease some of the pain.
Avatar n tn It was healing ok but 5 days ago while biting a sandwich my jaw made a loud popping sound and since then i am not able to open my mouth more than an inch. i also have alot of swelling. What coul this be?
Avatar n tn My mouth will not open and close evenly and when I lay down my jaw locks up and I can’t open my mouth. When I’m up it always pops on the right side opening and closing my mouth while talking and chewing. I would like to know why it does this and what is causing this and if it can be treated. I am in pain everyday with this problem and it is very frustrating. It started a few years ago and it is getting worse. Please help!! Thanks!!

Avatar m tn A week has gone by from all four impacted wisdom teeth were surgically removed. My jaw on the right side feels like it is locked. I can only open my jaw 1 inch. When I try to open it farther I get excruciating pain and it won't open. Left side is fine. I was very swollen the first three days after surgery. What should I do?
Avatar n tn There is NO PAIN except when I open my mouth....the jaw hurts, or the muscle in the jaw. Is this from the shots the dentist gave me before he extracted the tooth?
Avatar f tn I have this weird ear pain that goes away when I open my mouth, has anyone experienced this? I have been told it my be Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. Any thoughts on how to permanently stop the pain? I can't walk around with my mouth open, obviously.
2932946 tn?1344722012 She also goes to a chiropractor for them to adjust her jaw. When he does her jaw, he only manipulates her mandible, so it may be ok for Chiari patients to try.
Avatar f tn I noticed on Sunday afternoon when I was eating lunch that my jaw was hurting - hurt to open my mouth and hurt while chewing. I think I have TMJ, although no dentist has agreed with me, but my jaw clicks and I can see it shift when I open my mouth. So now I have this jaw pain that almost seems connected somehow to my neck -- just not sure if it's a possibility?? And how can I relieve it??!!?? Any input is appreciated!
Avatar m tn I have had a nagging pain in the back of my mouth for almost 3 months now. The pain is located in the hard palate area above my molars on the right side. Dental X-rays have revealed that nothing is wrong. My wisdom teeth are still intact, but 3 dentists and 2 oral surgeons have assured me that they do not need to come out and would not be causing the pain. The pain is like a sharp pressure in that area of my mouth. Almost feels like a sinus infection in that palate/gum region.
Avatar f tn t even yawn in peace anymore or even brush my teeth properly without feeling pain when I try to open my mouth more. This has gone on for three days. I feel a swelling-like bump when I touch the outside of my face. At first I thought it was because of my only grown wisdom tooth because that side of my mouth is where I feel my jaw is locked. That wisdom tooth hasn't bothered me ever since it first started growing, so I didn't think it's because of the tooth.
Avatar f tn I am getting a bridge made for my bottom left side and had my mouth open for a total of 5 hours in 1 day. The pain in my jaw was severe, and my ear feels like there is something in it. There is also a noise when I chew, or open my mouth. I can't open my mouth very big yet, but it is improving. There is no clicking sound when I open and close my mouth . It is more of a whooshing sound. I have a temporary bridge in and although it is not great the bite is OK. My Dr.
Avatar n tn t remember my first encounter with such pain, but I remember it being very painful. I remember very well that when I would open my mouth, my jaw would lock. I had to open my mouth at its fullest to unlock my jaw. It clicked very frequently. It would lock for one day the disappear for a few days then resume. Then in January of 2016, my jaw locked and I was unable to unlock it. I spent a good 15 minutes trying to get it back to normal. It finally did so later.
Avatar n tn Sometimes when I'm eating my jaw cracks really loudly in the side of my mouth. It's only happened a couple of times and not very often and it doesnt hurt too much just a little bit when I open my mouth wide. But now I'm okay, there's no pain and even when there was, there was very little. And sometimes when I move my jaw I think I can hear some sort of a grating sound from the side of my mouth. What does it mean?
Avatar n tn I had pain in my jaw too and could not open my mouth to eat more than 1/2 inch. The dentist opened my mouth too wide . This problem went away after 3 days. Next time the dentist did not open my mouth so wide. I have a very small mouth so the average person may be able to handle their jaws to be opened very wide. Next time make sure you tell your dentist not to open it so wide. I think your jaw will get better in time. I would suggest taking Advil due to inflammation. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn the dentist says that alot of people in the world have a bite that is off which throws off your jaw muscles so when you keep your mouth open for too long or fuss with the nerves they will act up. he also said that being tense would case it as well. i oput ice and heat on it and massage where they comment and eveeryday i try to push it a little futher. seems to be working. i am a singer and i need to be able to open my mouth to make money so... but it just a waiting game.
1217614 tn?1333510259 hi. i have had pain in my mouth for almost a week. i yawned and felt a pop below my right ear. now my bottom jaw really hurts and it feels like my mouth is tired. it feels like i have been chewing gum all day and i haven't. does amyone know what this might be? and anything to do about it?
Avatar f tn When I went back to the dentist to have the crown put on, I mentioned the jaw pain to her. She said that it happens and could have been from having my mouth open too wide or from the injection hitting a nerve. (I do remember an almost shock or jolt when she gave me one of the shots.) She prescribed a corticosteroid pack to be taken over a 6 day period. Today is the last day of the pack and the pain came back with a vengeance this morning.
Avatar n tn hey all im 15 and i was jus wondering if it was possible 4 me 2 have a wisdom tooth at my age and im having jaw pain and all my molars are loose, could this be causing the jaw pain(it hurts only when i yawn or open my mouth too fast) thx
Avatar f tn after a routine dental visit my jaw was just sore from the shot that I got in my lower and 5 weeks later I cant open my jaw/mouth more a quarter of an inch without horrific pain.it seems to be getting worse I have gone to the dentist and the doctor it is not TMJ and I am on naproxin and pain killers which dont even help. Nobody seems to know what is wrong does anybody have any answers.
1947337 tn?1331423890 You say you have good teeth, then does your jaw click when you bite or chew? You may have TMJ, which can cause nasty jaw pain. I have it. Muscle relaxers are usually the best treatment and massage of the jaw muscles outside of the jaw under your ears. Also, place your tongue at the bottom of your mouth flat. Try to pin the tip of your tongue to your bottom teeth. Then try to open your mouth straight without your jaw popping out of place.
Avatar f tn t clenched since and I have never had this issue before, I make sure to be aware during the day and at night i pillow myself in so I can only sleep on my back (when i sleep on my back my mouth falls open) . However in 2005 I had jaw surgery so I have plates in my jaw. I am concerned I may have done some real damage, Should I go to a Maxillofacial surgeon or is it normal for it to take this long to subside?
