The biggest problem I face everyday is hardly being able to swallow. I can hardly swallow my own spit and it takes a lot more effort to swallow food, and even liquids. My jaw has on and off pain, and my sinuses are always clogged. Feels like I have to just pick my nose to finally clear the airway but never fully does, comes with a pulsing pain too. I get headaches quite often, maybe 4 days a week as well. Any ideas as to what's going on?
My neck feels achy and slightly stiff, I get a sharp pain that shoots through my ear when I swallow food and drink. I do have some slight swelling on my jaw. The pain is constant with no relief. I just moved and are without insurance right now. Just wondering if this is something I can wait out or if I should be seen for it and also would like some idea of what this is?
I have had a sore throat for almost 14 days now, accompanied by infrequent stabbing pain in my jaw. I know that it's not normal to have a sore throat for this long (it's on my right side, same side as jaw pain) and I'm starting to become concerned. I saw a dentist, thinkin that it was tooth related, but the dentist said he could not attribute it to any tooth problems. He took my temp, felt glands, applied pressure to gums. Nothing, but the pain still persists. What could it be ?
The jaw settled, but I continued having problems with tongue and neck, and throat when I swallow and under jaw when I swallow, where glands are ( on one side only). Cold weather seems to affect all this, mainly throat and neck. Tongue remains continually sore and I have tried the thrush medication prescribed by doctor but it hasn't worked; also tried rinsing with salt water + bi-carb soda.
Any help/comments would be appreciated.
I am not sneezing, or blocked up as bad as I usually am with flu. My throat is very painful but not when I swallow. I get hayfever and have been itching my throat recently with my throat. Where you make it scratch inside. I have been getting so much phlegm, usually white and sticky but sometimes yellow and only very ocassionally light brown. My left ear sometimes beats and thumps painfully. My wisdom teeth need to come out so not sure whether this could be the cause of the ear and jaw pain.
m not siting there pounding myself in the jaw and head i just merely tap it and i feel the pain. I have also noticed that sometimes the pain is also triggered when i swallow..or even if im laying down trying to sleep and i move a part of my body slightly like my fingers or arms i feel the quick shock of pain in my head. I have had an MRI of the brain and it didn't show anything alarming. Were do i turn to now?!
this is the second week i have had pain in my chest kinda like in my left breast around to the center of my back sometimes under my shoulder blade. when i swallow i feel pain in my chest and my back, went to the doctor on last week basically they couldnt tell me anything cause its kinda hard to describe this feeling.
Swallowing becomes a problem sometimes where it feels like someone is sticking a knife in my ear and I cannot swallow at all. I just drool out like a baby. And then the pain is intense. I also have a heart condition that requires medication so I have to go to the ER or I can't take my heart meds. I have spent so much money trying to solve this TMD problem and nothing seems to work. I just started going to a neuromuscular dentist. I am hoping sooooo much that he will be able to help.
I am a 43 year old female, with a negative colonoscopy done last March. For the past two weeks, I have been experiencing very frequent belching, not just after meals, along with a pain to the right of my sternum occasionally when I swallow. This pain also is present when I'm not swallowing. Two Sundays ago, I vomited several hours after eating lunch, and have had recurrent nausea since that time. I take Prevacid 30 mg. once daily, but it does not seem to be helping. My gastro.
The pain is moderate for the most part and the headaches are dull and throbbing and have not gone away or felt better with rest and medication. My main concern is the stabbing pain in the back of my head when I swallow anything. It is very sudden but very painful and I would say it is a moderate to severe pain. One that makes me cringe and drop what I am doing at the time to grab the spot that hurts.
well, at first i just had a very mild soreness in my throat area, but like 2 days ago its gettin a little worse, the actual pain is in the area under my jaw, i dont feel like talkin like i used to and when i swallow, the area under my jaw seems to balloon more than before. my mother has hyperthyroidism. just recently ive been feeling with slight elevated pulse and fatigue during the night.
Well that was about 3 years ago, lately in the past 6 months i been having jaw pain and sevre discomfort.was told it was inflamation but within weeks i can no longer open my jaw wide. Before i was able to open up about four fingers high now i can only open it less than two fingers. The pain is most severe on my right side, its affecting my right ear. I have strong discomfort in my ear everytime i open my mouth.
I know this post is almost a year old, but could you please add the solution if there is one. I recently hurt my neck in our pool and now can barely swallow food it hurts so bad. I know it's nerve related because when I do traction the pain goes away and I can swallow with no problems. Thank you.

Ive been having pain at the front right side of my neck, just on the side of the adams apple! It seems to hurt slightly when i swallow, yawn, sneeze, and also when i push on it!
I can seem to feel a very heavy pulse in the place where the pain is!
I can lift my head up fine, but while its up if i slightly tilt it to the left, i get a really painful pulling pain there, and also pain in my jaw!
Could anyone give me any advice?
it’s pretty red and the pain is in the back of my throat and also a bit further down too like down to the middle of my throat maybe. it’s super tight and i hear a loud gurgle through my mouth every time after i swallow. my glands like near my jaw are super sensitive too. it’s not infection because its no pus or anything and the pain goes below my tonsils too leading me to believe it’s acid rebound. it’s like
knives are cutting me as i swallow.
Your problems sound exactly similar to mine, I have been diagnosed with a larngeal abnormality after an injury in which the superior cornu of the thyroid cartilage is rubbing against the hyoid bone, I had occipital headache, jaw and ear pain and crepitus when I rotate or press in on my throat, clicking with swallowing is a treatable condition if you search the medical literature, I am actually getting surgery at UCLA for this condition.
