Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain sinus disease treatment

jaw-pain

Avatar f tn I recently had an MRI [Brain, for double vision and headaches] My face is swollen and I often have pain around the jaw area. The report says that I have Paranasal sinus disease, particularly sphenoid sinuses and to a lesser degree the maxilliary antra. My GP has given my an AB but it does not seem to have worked. The pain and head are still quite bad. What questions do I need to ask my GP, so that he will take this seriously? Is there anything I can do to help myself?
Avatar f tn sinus infection, TMJ headaches, concussion, eye-strain, a malformation or deformity in the head, neck or spine and meningitis. Primary headaches are treated with preventive treatment plans and acute treatment plans. Someone with a migraine might avoid migraine triggers and use an acute medication such as a Triptan. Someone with tension headaches might do exercises for their back, reduce stress and take an anti-inflammatory such as Advil.
Avatar n tn For about a month I have had a numbness and or tingeling in my left cheeck and side of tongue. Usually I also have a burning on my tongue and or a metalic taste in my mouth. I first thought it was a sinus infection but I now have no other sinus symtoms. Now I am having a some uncomforatability above my left uper back teeth. Is it possible to have these symtoms before the tooth ach? I also have TMG with clicking that can be heard by others while I eat.
1408179 tn?1281376905 I started with my PCP for what I thought were sinus headaches/pain, the ENT specialist did a CT of my sinus, which is all messed up - but stated thats not the cause of my headaches/sinus pressure/jaw and ear and facial pain. Sent me to a TMJ specialist who did a CT of my jaw, made me appliances, did nerve testing on my neck for the neck pain and started me on pain meds for headaches.
Avatar m tn It sounds as if you may have TMJ.Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Syndrome is hard to diagnose and will cause excuriating pain. Here are just some of the symptoms... Pain in the facial muscles and jaw joints may radiate to the neck or shoulders. Joints may be overstretched. You may experience muscle spasms from TMJ syndrome. You may feel pain every time you talk, chew, or yawn. Pain usually appears in the joint itself, in front of the ear, but it may move elsewhere in the skull, face, or jaw.
Avatar n tn AT THE END OF APRIL, THE PAIN RETURNED. MY ORAL SURGEON CHECKED ME AGAIN, AS DID MY REGULAR DENTIST. IN ADDITION TO THE JAW PAIN, I WAS HAVING EAR PAIN, AND THE GUM AREA (WHERE THE TOOTH WAS) WAS VERY SORE. THE ORAL SURGEON REFERRED ME TO A GUM SPECIALIST WHO SAID MY GUM LOOKED OK, BUT I MIGHT NEED AN INPLANT. THE EAR PAIN CONTINUED, SO I WAS SENT TO AN ENT DOCTOR WHO SAID MY EAR LOOKED FINE.
Avatar f tn I have had severe sinus congestion for over a year now and have had a headache everyday as a result. About 2 weeks ago the pressure seemed to get worse along with painful swelling in all my glands from the shoulders up, and worsening post nasal drip. Now it hurts to even open my jaw and the antibiotics they gave me I can't take due to complecations with my UC. Any Suggestions???
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you everyone for your posts of orbital myositis. It started in March 2014 with right eye pain and pain when moving the eye. The ophthalmologist diagnosed me with scleritis and put me on Naproxen. A couple of days lated the pain had been radiated to the right orbit and then to the left orbit and gritty feeling in the right eye. In May the same doctor diagnosed me with dry eye and put me on Restasis.
1280306 tn?1271267786 t really helped much - that was an attempt to address the weird pressure/jaw/facial bone pain that the dentist thought was due to TMJ - but the mouth guard doesn't appear to help - the situation has actually become worse. So - still trying to mitigate damages - using anti-inflammatory diet, herbs, turmeric, steam, daily soaks in hot tub with Epsom salts does help a lot at night.
1625948 tn?1299510189 you should see your dentist who will sugest you have an x-ray on your jaw and teeth. you could have nerve damage or gum disease. your jaw could also be broken without you realising it. to relive the pain take paracetomol with codine three times a day and take a relaxing bath. hope you feel better soon. can you tell me what happened. thanks.
Avatar m tn s gone on several months and I cannot get an answer as to why. I can hardly even eat because of the pain. My jaw is really weak as well. I'm not sure if this is from tmj or something else. I also have terrible headaches so maybe it is neurological?
Avatar f tn I have been have episodes of left chest pain and jaw pain for about 2 months. I have had a stress echo which was normal. I had a cardiac ct with calcium scoring in which my calcium score was 0 and my arteries were clear ( they couldn't see my right coronary artery completely but they assured me it wasn't my heart). I have been on Nexium for my stomach and have been referred to a GI doctor but I continue to have this pain and jaw tightness.
Avatar n tn good day i am 27 years old and have developed sinus over the years, with the change of seasons i sometimes experience discomfort in my face like the nose area and eye area when the wind blows my eyes get teary and i seem to cough, and about a few months ago i went to a doctor and he explained that there is swelling in my jaw appearently i have some sort of an overbite which is causing some skewness in my mouth, he gave my muscle relaxers to ease the pain, but the sinus pain aswell as the jaw
Avatar f tn it could be something not as sinister, in a heart attack there is chest pain, lower jaw pain, dizziness, pain radiating down the armmainly left side, sometimes with heart disease there is a mucasey cough that lasts for months, are you healthy? have you checked your cholesterol? and bp?
Avatar m tn Has anyone had sinus surgery here .
659608 tn?1318289366 It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.
Avatar n tn Have been having severe tooth pain for 6 days. Dr. says is sinus infection affecting teeth. Dentist says tooth has infection around roots, but says roots are in the sinus cavatity. Am taking antibiotics, pain killers (not helping at all!!)Pain has gotten extremely worse. The only thing that stops the excruciating pain is a sip of cold water washed over the teeth. The pain radiates to teeth around it on top and down in the bottom jaw bone.
Avatar n tn Sinus tooth ache almost always involves upper posterior teeth. Please keep in mind that tooth ache is not always odontogenic. If your dentist can not identify structural pathology of dentoalveolar structure, seeing an orofacial pain specialist is advised.
645800 tn?1466860955 Hi, Dennis, Ole Jelly for Brains here can't remember if you got your diagnosis. But, if some symptoms are improving and the rest are stable for a while this could be a remission. If the facial stuff is new and worsening or if the thigh numbness is new it doesn't really sound like a remissionif we are talking about MS. I agree that the facial pain extending down into your jaw doesn't sound like sinus pain. You might look at the fpa-support.
Avatar f tn Sinus arrhthmia is abnormal. does the pain occur while resting or just with exertion? Have you had your inner ears checked by an ENT for your off balance & dizzy feelings?
146298 tn?1258712247 They go from my eye to my jaw and specific points of pain are jaw, base of skull, top of skull, behind ear, where shoulder meets neck. When I have such a headache I am very dizzy, technically it's vertigo. After the ache has begun my nostril slowly closes itself and adds a bit to the pressure, but I've had sinus headaches and this is different. Something in my head seems to be swelling and blocking the nasal passage rather than the nasal passage being blocked and causing the pain.
Avatar m tn At the same time I would suggest you to consult a cardiovascular specialist and get a complete exam done since you have symptoms of neck and jaw pain, palpitations and difficulty in breathing. Also make sure you get treated for sinus infection. Sinusitis can cause headaches, lightheadedness on bending and head movements. Steam inhalation and OTC decongestants will help you. Take care!
Avatar n tn Sometime that morning, I think I yawned and pulled the muscles in my neck and jaw on my right side. Not thinking too much of it, I waited for the pain to stop. This was last week and it has not subsided. It is sore in my neck to the touch, and the pain radiates into my ear and lower jaw. Neither the jaw or the ear are sore to the touch. My primary care dr. gave me Ceclor for a sinus infection after a few days because it sounded sinus related to her. Has not helped.
