Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain sinus disease

jaw-pain

Avatar f tn I recently had an MRI [Brain, for double vision and headaches] My face is swollen and I often have pain around the jaw area. The report says that I have Paranasal sinus disease, particularly sphenoid sinuses and to a lesser degree the maxilliary antra. My GP has given my an AB but it does not seem to have worked. The pain and head are still quite bad. What questions do I need to ask my GP, so that he will take this seriously? Is there anything I can do to help myself?
Avatar n tn AT THE END OF APRIL, THE PAIN RETURNED. MY ORAL SURGEON CHECKED ME AGAIN, AS DID MY REGULAR DENTIST. IN ADDITION TO THE JAW PAIN, I WAS HAVING EAR PAIN, AND THE GUM AREA (WHERE THE TOOTH WAS) WAS VERY SORE. THE ORAL SURGEON REFERRED ME TO A GUM SPECIALIST WHO SAID MY GUM LOOKED OK, BUT I MIGHT NEED AN INPLANT. THE EAR PAIN CONTINUED, SO I WAS SENT TO AN ENT DOCTOR WHO SAID MY EAR LOOKED FINE.
1625948 tn?1299510189 you should see your dentist who will sugest you have an x-ray on your jaw and teeth. you could have nerve damage or gum disease. your jaw could also be broken without you realising it. to relive the pain take paracetomol with codine three times a day and take a relaxing bath. hope you feel better soon. can you tell me what happened. thanks.
Avatar f tn I have been have episodes of left chest pain and jaw pain for about 2 months. I have had a stress echo which was normal. I had a cardiac ct with calcium scoring in which my calcium score was 0 and my arteries were clear ( they couldn't see my right coronary artery completely but they assured me it wasn't my heart). I have been on Nexium for my stomach and have been referred to a GI doctor but I continue to have this pain and jaw tightness.

Avatar f tn it could be something not as sinister, in a heart attack there is chest pain, lower jaw pain, dizziness, pain radiating down the armmainly left side, sometimes with heart disease there is a mucasey cough that lasts for months, are you healthy? have you checked your cholesterol? and bp?
659608 tn?1318289366 It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.
Avatar n tn Usually I also have a burning on my tongue and or a metalic taste in my mouth. I first thought it was a sinus infection but I now have no other sinus symtoms. Now I am having a some uncomforatability above my left uper back teeth. Is it possible to have these symtoms before the tooth ach? I also have TMG with clicking that can be heard by others while I eat.
Avatar m tn It sounds as if you may have TMJ.Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Syndrome is hard to diagnose and will cause excuriating pain. Here are just some of the symptoms... Pain in the facial muscles and jaw joints may radiate to the neck or shoulders. Joints may be overstretched. You may experience muscle spasms from TMJ syndrome. You may feel pain every time you talk, chew, or yawn. Pain usually appears in the joint itself, in front of the ear, but it may move elsewhere in the skull, face, or jaw.
Avatar n tn Sinus tooth ache almost always involves upper posterior teeth. Please keep in mind that tooth ache is not always odontogenic. If your dentist can not identify structural pathology of dentoalveolar structure, seeing an orofacial pain specialist is advised.
146298 tn?1258712247 They go from my eye to my jaw and specific points of pain are jaw, base of skull, top of skull, behind ear, where shoulder meets neck. When I have such a headache I am very dizzy, technically it's vertigo. After the ache has begun my nostril slowly closes itself and adds a bit to the pressure, but I've had sinus headaches and this is different. Something in my head seems to be swelling and blocking the nasal passage rather than the nasal passage being blocked and causing the pain.
Avatar n tn Third possibility can be sinusitis due to possible oro-antral fistula after extraction leading to sinus infection. This may lead to dull pain over the cheek area but inability to close eye and tongue involvement may not be explainable with this condition. You may consult an oral surgeon/physician/ neurologist to rule out above stated possibilities who may be able to help you in this regard. Take care.

Avatar n tn Since October, I have had inner ear pain, neck and jaw pain, and sometimes shoulders and facial pain as well. I also get headaches and sore spots on my head at times.
Avatar f tn sinus infection, TMJ headaches, concussion, eye-strain, a malformation or deformity in the head, neck or spine and meningitis. Primary headaches are treated with preventive treatment plans and acute treatment plans. Someone with a migraine might avoid migraine triggers and use an acute medication such as a Triptan. Someone with tension headaches might do exercises for their back, reduce stress and take an anti-inflammatory such as Advil.
Avatar n tn had a stabing pain behind left ear, it was between my ear and jaw bone, recently had two teeth pulled near the front. it hurt when i open my mouth and the ice cream made it hurt. I also have a sinus infection and sore throat.
Avatar f tn ) for four months in last spring. Now pain around the ear has returned. Sometimes the pain is below the ear or jaw angle, sometmes in or behind the ear canal. Sometimes it is in the upper temple area. On one day when I was working in our garden, I had headache in the temple, and it lasted for the whole day. I have never had migraine. I have read about exertional headache, could it be such? Nowadays the ear pain occurs most frequently early in the morning but can also occur during the daytime.
Avatar f tn Have the Sam e thing.Got a sinus infection that infected my eye and caused upper jaw pain. And some in my ear.
Avatar f tn This is day 3 of suffering really bad sinus pain in the left side of my face I've tried sudafed, panadol, saline nasal spray,Vicks inhaler, steam from hot showers, controlled breathing and now I'm at a loss as to what else to try,I'm flying in 3 days and don't want to be suffering the way I am and have cabin pressure too. The pain is so bad I'm struggling to eat (pressure affecting my jaw) and sleep (due to having to blow my nose so frequently) I'm 35 weeks today.
Avatar n tn In spite of these results, I still happen to get odd symptoms such as chest pain off and on, as well as pain in both arms (off and on) and jaw pain (off and on). I also constantly feel light-headed, and many times I also feel short of breath. After exercise, the light headedness is much worse, but I'm not sure if this is just me working too hard and being out of shape.
Avatar n tn Eating is so painful with any kind of chewing.I have tried Lyrica and am on pain medicine for chronic spinal disease which does little to help with this cranial facial seperation., Also fractured the ethmoid sinus along with orbitial floor fractures which included the upper jaw fracture and other area in the face. Most of the face is numb and more so on the left side which had most of the trauma. It feel like I would like to pull my upper teeth out at times.
Avatar f tn I had a Le Forte upper jaw surgery several years ago and am now having the plates and screws removed as a last resort to see if the screws are causing my severe and frequent sinus infections. I am wondering just how bad the recovery from this is, specifically how much pain, facial swelling, and facial numbness to expect.
