I'm having occasional trouble with pain on the left side of my neck, jaw and arm. It comes and goes. I've had a CT of my head done (clean) as well as an MRI of my brain area and neck (both clean). The doctor who ordered the MRI gave me another doctor's name if the problems continued. I don't know whether I've pinched a nerve somewhere or having some sort of circulatory problems.
It went overt shoulder down the back of my arm. At the same time it shot up my neck on left side wrapped around the back on my neck and settled in my upper jaw joint in front of my right ear. That hurt! The spot by my ear in the jaw joint was horrible. I did have mild sweating. Odd thing was I was talking when it happened stopped mid sentence and my husband said I was pale I sat in chair with a thud. I looked stunned he said. I tried to get my husband to take me to ER or call 911.

I've seen a cardiologist (well, several) and I still continue to have left arm pain, like a weakness and also a tightening in my neck and jaw. Sometimes it aches so bad I can't think straight. But, since I've had a number of cardiac tests that have come back normal, I try to tell myself it isn't heart related. If you haven't seen a doctor for it, it is probably wise (just in case) to do so. Good luck.
I have had pain in the left joint of my jaw for years now. As far as I can remember I have not been knocked in that area. The area of pain can stretch from the lower jaw area right up to my ear and can even give me neck pain. It causes pain when I open my mouth wide and always feels like the bones are 'clicking' and 'clunking' out of place. I have had phisio on the joint but that is only a stretch of the muscle and the pan is always present.
It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.
Like a really bad toothache but the pain is on the whole left side of my jaw, top and bottom. This has happened 2 or 3 times in the past week and will last several hours along with pain going down my neck and behind my ear.
Question #1:If angina presents as jaw pain with no chest pain, what, typically, is the nature of the pain? Diffuse? One-sided? Squeezing? Including the neck too? I have a mild discomfort only in one particular quarter size area of my jaw, just to the left of my chin that comes and goes. It can last a few minutes or a couple hours. Exertion does seem to bring it on, but I also sometimes have it at rest with a heart rate about 75.
I am having a problem with my left ear/jaw area. The pain will start gradually but increase over time. It casuses my jaw to feel tight and I have terrific pain in my ear. It hurts to turn my head to the right (keep in mind it is my left ear that hurts) and touching my ear causes near vomit inducing pain. There is a spot just below my ear that if I massage it, the pain subsides for a minute or two and then starts back up.
I woke up in excruciating pain all along my jaw, in my ear, and down my neck. It felt like I had been choked. It was painful to the touch and along my throat had a strange soft swelling. The pain also radiated up under my eye to my nose on that side. I was going to call the doctor but decided to just go to bed. I stayed there all day. Just touching the skin on my neck hurt. By Sunday, the pain was much lessened and on Monday felt nearly gone. Yesterday was not bad either.
What I have is actually in the neck and jaw. the left side of my neck hurts toward the side (main muscle/tendon going down from the jaw to the shoulder, and under my jaw, from what I can tell is inside my jaw. there are ridges on my jaw towards my chin that hurt, and also the space in between my jaw hurts. Don't know if it is glandular or tmj related. odd stuff. Cannot see my doc until next Thursday. anything that I can do?
I am in the night shift and i also had a swollen lymph node in my left-lower-jaw-inbetween-the-ear portion and it's also giving me a piercing pain. the lymph is swollen because according to the doctor's diagnosis i have an allergic rhinities and my "maximus", (i don't really know what is the name) ---- it's on the inside-left-nose is inflamed because of allergy.
Hi For about 3 months my neck hurts, especially when i try to tilt my head back or down to the left. The pain radiates to my ear and up the left side of my head. I cant sleep on my right side , the pain is so intense. Should i see someone for this?
Had an MRI and they found a mass between my left ear and jaw......
I have chest, neck, jaw and head pain on the left side also the top side of left shoulder. I have 4 stents in my heart and I had two mini stokes in 2007. Right now my blood presure on the left side is 106/59 and pulse of 46 Could someone tell me what is going on?
I was in an accident 10/14/09. I have been suffering from right-sided neck pain, shoulder pain, headaches, and right arm pain/numbness. Family doctor diagnosed me with a sprain/strain. Pain continued and was sent for an MRI (12/09). MRI showed: early spur formation and disc protrusion C5-C6 on Left with mild stenosis of central canal. Left-sided protrusion at C6-C7 with narrowing of the left neuroforamen. Long story, short.. Given many medications to try and Physical therapy.
I have been wearing bite guard for last year and it got better but started hurting again this week really bad and having spasms in jaw and now my neck is killing me on the left side. Pain is going up the left side of neck and down left shoulder into arm. Have not had chance to go to doctor yet but am wondering if anyone with cervical disc problems has ever had it to affect temple and jaw area of face??? Am thinking maybe this isn't TMJ at all....
I am a 39-year-old female, and I have been having terrible left anterior neck pain for about 1 month. The pain seems to be close to my carotid artery and runs along the trachea. My left jaw and ear also hurt. I have been to an internal medicine and ENT doctor, and I have had an MRI and CT scan of my neck, and I was told that everything appears normal. The ENT doctor said my lymph nodes are swollen, but the MRI was normal. My thyroid is not swollen and TSH and free T4 levels are fine.
It's only on the left side. A few hours ago I started having severe, constant pain in my jaw/teeth. Also, on the left side. I don't know if it is related. Any ideas on what's going on? Should I see a doctor? I have tried heat and throat losangers, neither helped.
I am a LimboLander with an uncomfortable new symptom--or maybe not a symptom?? I have a stiff neck--and not the kind that you get after you sleep weird--and not like something is "out." It's just this line of pain from my neck dowm my right arm--and up to my jaw--I feel stupid asking because maybe it's just a stiff neck--but I've never had pain like this before and was just wondering if this sounds like something to add to my log of sx or if it seems unrelated.
I have extreme headaches on the left side of my head along with extreme discomfort and pain in the skull, jaw, neck, shoulders. The left side of my shoulder, neck, face, and even cranium is swollen and has been getting more and more swollen over the years. I do not know if it's a domino effect from the bottom (feet, lower back, or shoulder) to the top (jaw and skull) or from the top to the bottom, or a bunch of separate problems.
-every morning my jaw clicks when i open my mouth cause its been shut for so long (never had to do this before) -every time i eat i get a sharp, grating like feel in the top of my jaw bone (by the ear left side only) Also in my neck ive got a tender pain when ever its touched ever since, plus this is also on the left hand side Any idea whats up?
I woke up wth pain in my lower left gums/jaw. As the day went on the pain has worsened and spread to my neck (more internal than external muscle), chest (middle, upper chest-not so much by the heart) through to my back. I had chest, back and right jaw pain a few weeks ago (a sharper pin in he back than I'm feeling now) and had several EKG's, a stress test, and a echo. I have a histoy of acid reflux, but antacids are not helping. Cold water doesn't seem to be helping either. Any suggestions?
My right eye has developed double vision in low light (my optomitrist said this is because my pupil gets larger than previous lasor surgery flap at night) Three weeks ago I started getting constant pain in the upper back part of the right side of my neck and along the side of the right neck (by the bg arteries) and even under my right lower jaw. I have no swollen glands but constant fullness, pressure and discomfort.
Chest pain, pain in my ribs, neck and jaw pain, pain in my left elbow, pain in my left shoulder, pain in the center of my left chest and right chest, and constipation( now I always thought that once the gall bladder was gone that you did not have that problem). So another EKG (4 so far in total) has showed up perfect. Another round of blood work ( have not gotten results yet ). and a Stress test scheduled for Nov. 5th.
I seem to only feel neck pain in the right side and only when laying down on my right side and only when swallowing. Have seen a ENT and was told throat looked fine. I am thinking it could be an artery.
I have had excruciating head, neck, shoulder, eye, ear, jaw, and throat every day for almost a year. The pain started in my neck, but went to my head, jaw, eyes, ears, and throat within days. When it is extremely intense, I cannot have anything touch my shoulders, neck or back of the head, and I'm extremely sensitive to light and sound. When I lay down at night, I truthfully don't think I'll wake up because the pain just throbs. I feel like I will have a an aneurysm before morning.
But then after a few months I had extremely severe pain form between the tooth and my maxillary sinus on that side, and then pain back to my jaw, and below my jaw down my neck with swollen lymph nodes. Plus when I bite down that tooth and only that tooth hurts. Well, the dentist took new bite wing X-rays and didn't see an abscess or anything and gave me Amoxil which completely elminated the severe pain in 5 days...
