jaw pain left neck pain

What I have is actually in the neck and jaw. the left side of my neck hurts toward the side (main muscle/tendon going down from the jaw to the shoulder, and under my jaw, from what I can tell is inside my jaw. there are ridges on my jaw towards my chin that hurt, and also the space in between my jaw hurts. Don't know if it is glandular or tmj related. odd stuff. Cannot see my doc until next Thursday. anything that I can do?

Hi For about 3 months my neck hurts, especially when i try to tilt my head back or down to the left. The pain radiates to my ear and up the left side of my head. I cant sleep on my right side , the pain is so intense. Should i see someone for this?

I have been wearing bite guard for last year and it got better but started hurting again this week really bad and having spasms in jaw and now my neck is killing me on the left side. Pain is going up the left side of neck and down left shoulder into arm. Have not had chance to go to doctor yet but am wondering if anyone with cervical disc problems has ever had it to affect temple and jaw area of face??? Am thinking maybe this isn't TMJ at all....

If you are having any other cardiac symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea, pain radiating down the left arm or anything like that go to the Emergancy department. It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...).

Like a really bad toothache but the pain is on the whole left side of my jaw, top and bottom. This has happened 2 or 3 times in the past week and will last several hours along with pain going down my neck and behind my ear.

I have had pain in the left joint of my jaw for years now. As far as I can remember I have not been knocked in that area. The area of pain can stretch from the lower jaw area right up to my ear and can even give me neck pain. It causes pain when I open my mouth wide and always feels like the bones are 'clicking' and 'clunking' out of place. I have had phisio on the joint but that is only a stretch of the muscle and the pan is always present.

I am a 39-year-old female, and I have been having terrible left anterior neck pain for about 1 month. The pain seems to be close to my carotid artery and runs along the trachea. My left jaw and ear also hurt. I have been to an internal medicine and ENT doctor, and I have had an MRI and CT scan of my neck, and I was told that everything appears normal. The ENT doctor said my lymph nodes are swollen, but the MRI was normal. My thyroid is not swollen and TSH and free T4 levels are fine.

it could. the vice versa could also be true-- neck problems can cause jaw pain. I'd see a TMJ specialist, ot a PT knowledgable abut the head and neck. This type of pain is usually muscular, but sometimes can be helped with certain types of dental intervention.

Over the course of a few weeks the pain started to subside and my jaw began to relax... Heat packs on my jaw to soothe the pain... He also suggested certain exercises to strengthen my neck and back muscles because they were weak from all the tension... I also did acupuncture... It also helped to calm and relax my muscles... Hi Huma, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum of MedHelp. I am glad you found us. Mollyrae is correct. This pain should be addressed immediately. Left shoulder pain and chest can be cardiac related. Heart or "Cardiac" pain does not have to come in the commonly know "crushing left-sided chest pain." Cardiac pain can be shoulder, neck, jaw, arm, hand (EITHER RIGHT OR LEFT) or just show itself as extreme fatigue. You need to be evaluated asap.

A lot of cutting was done on my face and neck. Now at the age of 50 I am experiencing severe jaw pain in that jaw, neck pain on that same side, tongue cramping and severe tongue pain. I cannot turn my head to the left and the pain is excruciating. I know I have a lot of nerve damage on that left side where the ijury occured. But everyone I have seen, from oral surgoens to dentists to doctors' are stumped at what is causing this and no one will treat me.

I had the worst toothache on my left side which became jaw pain on the left side. After taking antibiotics the tooth and jaw pain slowly slightly faded with just a small toothache 1 or 2 times per week. However the eye and head pain and waking up with headaches and the horrible constant pain on my left side started maybe a few weeks after ky toothache went away. So its probably unrelated but just throwing that out there. Please help me.

Back pain won't cause neck/jaw pain, but neck/jaw pain can cause back pain. The effects of gravity apply forces downward. Regarding the jaw pain; clenching jaw muscles can affect your neck and jaw, it is actually a common symptom for many people who suffer from anxiety. If it is extreme, you can ask your dentist for a mouth guard, which can help reduce the pain and also save your teeth from any future damage ( use it at night while you sleep, or if you nap anytime)...

I am a 17 years old girl. four months ago i started experiencing neck pain that wouldnt go away. A g.p prescribed antibiotics for it, then muscle relaxants and then calcium and vitamin supplements but to no avail. note: ialso have tmj.My tmj only causes me to not be able to open my mouth completely. A jaw specialist recommended that i undergo orthodontic treatment for it. Now i've had braces for almost a year.

i get a sharp pain behind my left ear it can last days in spasms comes lasts a few seconds then goes i get a few mins rest then it happens again today nothing so far but i would like to know what is causing it

Now last wednesday evening after having a bad few days with the pain, which was also radiating in the left hand side of my neck and jaw/teeth i got scared and went to the A+E. The doctor there ran an ECG, chest x ray and blood tests. Im not sure what all the tests were but i know he did d dimer test and he said there was no infection in my body and they also took blood from my wrist i think he said to check oxygen or gas levels?

I think I have TMJ, although no dentist has agreed with me, but my jaw clicks and I can see it shift when I open my mouth. So now I have this jaw pain that almost seems connected somehow to my neck -- just not sure if it's a possibility?? And how can I relieve it??!!?? Any input is appreciated!

A few days ago I yawned, and had this extreme pain in my upper neck, right below my chin. I have experienced this pain before, but not like this. After the yawn occurred, I experienced massive head pain. The pain did not stop, and has continued threw the week. And I also have experienced the neck pain every so often. But now, after over talking/volunteering, I'm experiencing the pain non stop, And my head hurts quite a lot. Also when I lay my head down I can feel a very hard beat in my head.

My mom just began to get really bad pain behind her left ear (she's in her 40's). It started when she woke up and doesn't seem to get any better. Nothing is swollen. She said that it hurts to open her jaw all the way as well. And that it almost feels like she has a kink in her neck. What would you diagnose this as? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPREACIATED!!!

I have severe throat pain on left side mainly underneath jaw and at bottom of throat. Seems to be set off by acidic foods, or swallowing bulky rough items. I have never had a sore throat like this before -- I have no other symptoms no cold, no runny nose, no cough etc. It has not gotten any better after a kind of 2 day onset 6 days ago. The pain is always at its worse on the side of my neck at the corner of my jaw. The pain is more on the side of my neck, not down the middle on the spine. I thought it was that wisdom tooth for the longest time. And like i said dentist thinks its TMJ.

You could try a chiropactor. If your neck is misaligned (can also affect your jaw - it causes horrible pain for me when my neck is misaligned) it may cause wrong nerve impluses to your lungs and cause asthma symptoms (not all people and not all symptoms either). A rib may also be out of place causing problems with nerve signals as well.

Honestly I dont feel any pain around my jaw, But when I open/close my jaw I can feel a cracking sound in the left jaw (yes around my left ear) but still no pain. The pressure I feel is comes very quickly either when I rest the back of my head on the chair or when I lay the back of my head on bed. Also this discomfort is very noticable when I close my eyes! Sometimes the valsava manuveur makes me feel better only for a few seconds.

Started last week with discomfort in my neck when moving pain progressed across my shoulder now has gone up to my ear and across my jaw just on my left side.Any suggestions?Could it be caused by window open in car on that side.

I consult ENT 3 more times,they are preferred antibiotics,I used antibiotics at the time it is cured few days then again repeated.present I fell pain in left ear inside and outer side of the ear down part and I fell neck pain and left chest pain ,left hand pain also...my age is 29years old. .I feel very bad..please give me good suggestion.
