5555569 tn?1369800168 Last Morning , when i waked up , suddenly got a jaw pain, when iam trying to chew pain comes a lot...it may be ear infection???
Avatar n tn It sounds like an ear infection to me. Your ears are connected to your nose and throat, so it's likely your jaw pain can be radiated pain from those areas. But I would definitely go and speak with a doctor about it, because letting an ear infection run without antibiotics, if it's not clearing up on its own, can be detrimental to your hearing.
1446980 tn?1286838538 Yup, I get ear and jaw pain too. My jaw feels tight, my ears feel full, kinda like I'm 20 ft underwater. I get stabbing pains along my jawline and behind my ears. My mom is a dental hygienist. Her theory is that compression or inflammation is putting pressure on the 4th trigeminal nerve. I think it was 4th. Those stabbing, sharp, shooting pains are nerve pain. Pain meds won't touch them. Neurontin could help.
1759659 tn?1312975493 Two days ago I started to get this pain in my inner ear I have read up about the possibilities of which it could be ; Ear Infection, Swimmers Ear A Non-Burst Ear drum of a flight and a Burst Ear Drum since of these things I think that may have to go into way more detail. Firstly I was swimming in my pool under water when I heard water suction which went into my ear when I got out I tried to dispurse of this water.
387767 tn?1345872027 Is it possible to have arthritis in the jaw? I get pain in my jaw right near my ear, and I get pain in my ear, especially the left one. I also get a sharp pains in my head on that side. I am worried. Doctors are not really giving me an answer, and I visited several dentists to check my teeth and for TMJ. My jaw kind of clicks when I move it, but not really any pain in my mouth. Since I have arthritis in so many other joints, is it possible to have it here too?
Avatar f tn My dentist explained to me that I had TMJ syndrome. It causes discomfort in the jaw and the pain is right infront of the ear.
Avatar n tn For the past 3 weeks, I have had pain when chewing or biting down in my right ear and in that part of my jaw just below the temple. My dentist and orthodontist have said my jaw is disaligned in the past (I look normal though), but I have never had pain. My back molars do not touch when I bite, and my front teeth bite right together with no overbite at all. However, the pain has just now come and seems worse when I sleep on my face funny. Sometimes it is so bad that it is difficult to eat.
Avatar n tn My ear feels like theres a lot of fluid in it. I was thinking it might be an ear infection. But why would my jaw really hurt to open more than half way? It doesnt hurt when I chew either. Does anyone know what I might have?
Avatar f tn It hurts to move my jaw, to laugh, to chew, to talk, to smile and definitely to touch the area surrounding my inner ear and to lay down on that side. It seems like any pressure on or around is painful as well. To pull or push the skin on my cheek or on the side of my jaw is too painful. I have been hoping that it would just go away as the time goes on but the pain just gets worse as I'm sitting here typing. I don't have to be doing anything to feel the pain.
Avatar n tn I have severe pain in my jaw and it is difficult to close my mouth without tension/pain. It sends stabbing pain both in my jaw and ear at night. I also have a lump on the jaw joint near my ear!!! I has been going on since begining of september.I wake up screaming. It is like some stabbed me with a long knitting needle after held over a flame!!!!!! This discussion is related to Lump on jaw?.
Avatar f tn It feels tender and sore and it is only on my right ear. The pain seems to be concentrated around my ear. I am currently in Europe for six months, without health insurance. What should I do? For years and years, I would chew on hard items, like tops of water bottles ( I know gross habit )...and I have always been known to chew gum! So I think my TMD is a direct result to me not taking care of my jaw. I also have hypothyroid and take medication every day. Please help...
Avatar n tn Hi everyone can anyone help, for the last 2 months i've had pain in top of my jaw by my ear lobe, the jaw is sometimes stiff and cracks , there is pain also in the gums around the back teeth on the same side of the jaw , the teeth feel tender the pain travels down to the troat and ear. Have no lumps or bumps around these areas. Booked to see my denist.
Avatar f tn What would cause my bite to shift to the right and pain at the joint of my jaw on the right? Could this change account for my having a constant eadache?
1426391 tn?1282856586 I have a severe pain in my left ear. It is a burning pain. I went to the doctor 5 times in 8 days. First they took our a blockage of wax, which was black and hard. Then they let me go home, but then the pain was still there. I went back the next day, they looked in my ear again saying I had and infection. I got antibiotics, which I drank for 2 days without any help. I went to a new hospital where they looked at my ear and gave me stronger antibiotics and pain killers.
Avatar n tn That could cause the pain in the jawbone along with the pain in the ear. I have had it radiate through my jawbone down into my ear and neck and ohhh it hurts...good luck.
659608 tn?1318289366 It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.
Avatar n tn m not sure if this is tooth or ear related. The pain is definately in my jaw, but I could not point to a specific tooth and the pain shoots up to my ear. I'll also try ibuprophen. Thanks for the comments!
Avatar n tn I am having chronic pain in left side of head, ear, jaw, teeth, and hard palate. This has happened before in past years but only short time and not as bad as this time. I am in a tremendous amount of pain. Nsaids help on a tiny bit. Dentist found nothing, but made a 3 hundred dollar mouth guard. Any help will be appreciated. Pain is both constant and shooting.
Avatar m tn Pain usually appears in the joint itself, in front of the ear, but it may move elsewhere in the skull, face, or jaw. TMJ syndrome may cause ear pain, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), and hearing loss. Sometimes people mistake TMJ pain for an ear problem or sinus problem, such as an infection, when the ear or sinus' is not the problem at all. Imaging: X-rays may be taken of the mouth and jaw. CT or MRI may also be used.
Avatar n tn Over the course of a few weeks the pain started to subside and my jaw began to relax... Heat packs on my jaw to soothe the pain... He also suggested certain exercises to strengthen my neck and back muscles because they were weak from all the tension... I also did acupuncture... It also helped to calm and relax my muscles... Good luck!
Avatar n tn The root canal was not easy - I felt some of treatment due to inflammation from crack and afterwards I had pain for a few days both in the tooth and jaw. My jaw pain is on left side only - same side as tooth. My crown was placed on tooth with temporary cement and left like that for months - but the off and on discomfort remained.
Avatar m tn alot of morning i wake up with one and im guessing its due to this jaw pain. is only on left side. do i go to the dentist or dr for this? had my wisdoms out yrs ago and had a bad infection, could this have anything to do with that?
Avatar n tn AT THE END OF APRIL, THE PAIN RETURNED. MY ORAL SURGEON CHECKED ME AGAIN, AS DID MY REGULAR DENTIST. IN ADDITION TO THE JAW PAIN, I WAS HAVING EAR PAIN, AND THE GUM AREA (WHERE THE TOOTH WAS) WAS VERY SORE. THE ORAL SURGEON REFERRED ME TO A GUM SPECIALIST WHO SAID MY GUM LOOKED OK, BUT I MIGHT NEED AN INPLANT. THE EAR PAIN CONTINUED, SO I WAS SENT TO AN ENT DOCTOR WHO SAID MY EAR LOOKED FINE.
Avatar f tn My point being, she was awful with her recommendations. There has to be some explanation as to why I suffer in pain with my ear. What can these sharp pains be attributed too? I wish I could have some kind of head scan to see what is in my ear drum, and/or head that is causing these pains. Would that be silly of me to think? Can someone please guide me? Thanks!
