Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain in sinus infection

Avatar m tn I have had a nagging pain in the back of my mouth for almost 3 months now. The pain is located in the hard palate area above my molars on the right side. Dental X-rays have revealed that nothing is wrong. My wisdom teeth are still intact, but 3 dentists and 2 oral surgeons have assured me that they do not need to come out and would not be causing the pain. The pain is like a sharp pressure in that area of my mouth. Almost feels like a sinus infection in that palate/gum region.
659608 tn?1318289366 It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.
Avatar f tn I assumed I had an abscess but an xray revealed the sinus in my lower jaw was blocked due to infection. It is painful and theres a dull ache all the time.
Avatar m tn It sounds as if you may have TMJ.Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Syndrome is hard to diagnose and will cause excuriating pain. Here are just some of the symptoms... Pain in the facial muscles and jaw joints may radiate to the neck or shoulders. Joints may be overstretched. You may experience muscle spasms from TMJ syndrome. You may feel pain every time you talk, chew, or yawn. Pain usually appears in the joint itself, in front of the ear, but it may move elsewhere in the skull, face, or jaw.
Avatar f tn The dentist had basically destroyed my jaw and removed 90% of my jaw bone in the area of the extraction. Called the dentist and said this was normal and not to worry about it and to keep my appointment for the bridge a week later. I cancelled and went to another dentist that I trusted.
Avatar n tn They said it could be a sinus infection. I can believe the pain can possibly be that bad. It left. Now I have exactly the same thing on the other side of my mouth. It is in the lower jaw/ bone/tooth. They said it normally is in the upper teeth. Has anyone got any answers? I am 200 mile from a Dr This discussion is related to extreme tooth/jaw pain.
Avatar f tn Hi, combination of your ear pain and the jaw pain could be due to sinus congestion. There are many cases where individuals that suffering from sinus congestion also experience pressure in the ear, with earaches and even jaw pain. The earaches you are having may be an infection in the ear due to blocked sinuses. Other causes of aw pain can be due to infection of salivary gland like parotitis, infected foci, osteoporosis related jaw disarticulation or fracture.
Avatar f tn Have the Sam e thing.Got a sinus infection that infected my eye and caused upper jaw pain. And some in my ear.
Avatar n tn It could partially be stiff shoulders/neck, which could cause headaches (pain is in similar places to sinus infections) and constrict the tubes of the inner ear, blood vessels, etc in the neck (try massaging your neck/shoulders, face, jaw and stretching, and excedrin or advil works well). These last two don't explain the warmness or cold hands/feet.
Avatar f tn When he diolated my gland he noticed the pus was infact exuding from the top of my mouth precisely where the jaw plats and screws were and I had a severe infection in that are and in my cheek. This was clearly the root cause of everything, including the sinus infection.
587537 tn?1220104892 got that 5 day medican, a week later took extrays again and still tells me sinus infection. My nose fells clear, my ears do hurt and my jaw aches, along with swollen gums, only on right side. Started more medican and more pain pills. Now there is another "bone piece" coming thru gum and I can not get to it to pull out myself, this whole thing is driving me crazy. Please Help. Advise is welcome. I am running out of vacation and sick time from work, not to mention money.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had a sinus infection while pregnant? If so, were you able to take anything? Im 11 weeks pregnant and beginning to feel miserable.
Avatar f tn I was treated with 2 rounds of antibiotics after a sinus infection in Feb/March (maybe, or could have just been viral, I had a horrible virus in February). This has been unlike anything else I've experienced sinus wise, I've never had sinusitis other than a normal infection that goes away with antibiotics. My symptoms are primarily on my right side only and I had a lot of ear pain and neck pain too.
Avatar n tn AT THE END OF APRIL, THE PAIN RETURNED. MY ORAL SURGEON CHECKED ME AGAIN, AS DID MY REGULAR DENTIST. IN ADDITION TO THE JAW PAIN, I WAS HAVING EAR PAIN, AND THE GUM AREA (WHERE THE TOOTH WAS) WAS VERY SORE. THE ORAL SURGEON REFERRED ME TO A GUM SPECIALIST WHO SAID MY GUM LOOKED OK, BUT I MIGHT NEED AN INPLANT. THE EAR PAIN CONTINUED, SO I WAS SENT TO AN ENT DOCTOR WHO SAID MY EAR LOOKED FINE.
Avatar n tn A related discussion, chronic sinus pain and lower jaw pain was started.
3183999 tn?1344645418 I woke up in the middle of the night with so much pain in my right cheek (in that sinus) that breathing in the room temperature AIR was intolerable. Thank you, again - I will look into an orofacial pain specialist if the dentist and ENT are not able to figure out what is WRONG with me!
Avatar n tn It may be a dislocated jaw symptoms it cause you jaw to tightness with a lot a muscle spasm you may have pain in your head not the regular is like a pressure in the sideways.
494996 tn?1209551293 the dentist cleaned the tooth out from decay and filled it. every since then i had pain in the join of my jaw and pain in the lower jaw and pain right over my eye. Now i am having pain in my right eye ear. could this be a sign of an sinus infection or could my my gum got infected. I also have pain in my mouth but not in the place where he filled it.
1625948 tn?1299510189 I would first find out whether I possibly could be having sinus issues as alot of times it will present as teeth pain and the headaches are generally in the front of forehead right above eyebrows or right under eye sockets. With feeling of pressure there and around eyes themselves.
Avatar f tn With some antibiotics, it should be able to clear up your sinus. If not, then you could rule out a sinus infection and look at the teeth again.
Avatar n tn How do I know if this is a sinus infection - which I am prone to getting - or possibly a tooth abcess (the pain is mostly centered over one of the molars)? It does not hurt any more when I bite down. What does increase the pain is if I lay down on my left side any amount of time, whether it be to rest or sleep. Help???
Avatar f tn It could be a sinus infection, migraine, or even TMJ. My guess would be a sinus infection. TMJ might be the easiest to experiment with first under your conditions, and it wouldn't hurt anything. See if a chiro can adjust your jaw. I was amazed at how quickly my headache, neck and shoulder pain went away after one adjustment - less than 10 minutes. I am very serious. I only recommend chiros for musculo-skeletal isssues.
Avatar n tn who said this was a sinus infection. I searched online and did not find anything suggesting a sinus infection can be caused by a tooth extraction. I read Sinus Infection on Mayo Clinic 's website and it describe more serious immune system problems can cause it , now i am really freaking out. It has been about 7 days now , anyone got any opinions or advise ? I never had this before and if anyone has any opinions , please help.
Avatar n tn Have been having severe tooth pain for 6 days. Dr. says is sinus infection affecting teeth. Dentist says tooth has infection around roots, but says roots are in the sinus cavatity. Am taking antibiotics, pain killers (not helping at all!!)Pain has gotten extremely worse. The only thing that stops the excruciating pain is a sip of cold water washed over the teeth. The pain radiates to teeth around it on top and down in the bottom jaw bone.
