In additional to all of my other issues post baby, I am hav developed random shooting pain in my jaw. no chest or arm pain.....i went to my dentiist who thinks I am clenching...and apparently on the same side there is nerve damage to one of my teeth. could this be all it is?!? i am also getting panic attacks with post partum anxiety so am nervous this could all be my heart. i am a 29 year old healthy female, 2 babies....
I have been wearing bite guard for last year and it got better but started hurting again this week really bad and having spasms in jaw and now my neck is killing me on the left side. Pain is going up the left side of neck and down left shoulder into arm. Have not had chance to go to doctor yet but am wondering if anyone with cervical disc problems has ever had it to affect temple and jaw area of face??? Am thinking maybe this isn't TMJ at all....
Since July 2013 I have noticed swelling on the left side of my face. It is there every day but sometimes it is far worse. It is always swollen just along the top of my jaw/bottom of my cheek. I had thyroid cancer 5 years ago and had a complete thyroidectomy. 14 lymph nodes were removed and 3 had cancer. I was on levoxyl but was switched to synthroid when levoxyl was no longer available. I noticed the swelling around the time of the med change. My thyroid Dr. says there is no relation.

Recently I have been having pain on both sides of my jaw and up the back of my head. It started off on the right side making my face feel numb and then gave me shooting pain in the side of my head and down my neck. I have also been feeling like my ears are clogged or there is a lot of pressure in my head. I constantly feel as if I have been given a numbing medication because my teeth feel numb. I know that sounds weird but it feels like my mouth and teeth have been numbed.
I know my TMJ disorder causes problems with migraines, ear problems, as well as neck pain. This is also central to the left side of my head. I know my jaw is slightly uneven and my left side hangs a bit lower than the right, this probably causes strain and pain. I would see a dentist to check it out for you.
As long as i can remember i have had pain in the left side of my chest and get a cramp in the left side of my jaw. What is this and what type of doctor should i see, is it serious? Lately it has been more intense lasting all day usely, I exercise regularly. Im confused please help 31 year old male, 6'1 195 lbs and i smoke. I also recently was laid off and don't have insurance at the time is this something i can put off for a few months until my new inssurance kicks in?
Hi and thank you in advance for this incredible service. A few years ago several of my molars in my bottom teeth fell out or crumbled out. These were teeth that had had some work, some with unfinished work too, some root canals that didn't end up getting crown-finishes. The gum/cheek swelled up on the left side then went away. Then the right side swelled up and a tooth's remaining root there was hurting pretty badly, and it kept getting worse, very painful.
I have been experience constant pain for six months. It started with heart palpitations. After three days in the hospital with an echo, EKGs, and heart enzyme studies, it was determined that the issue is not related to my heart. The palpitations eventually subsided but that pain that presented with them has not. In fact, it's gotten much worse. Sometimes it's all of the way down my arm into my finger tips. It feels like it's in my muscle.
My jaw pain is on left side only - same side as tooth. My crown was placed on tooth with temporary cement and left like that for months - but the off and on discomfort remained. It is NOT same pain I experienced when it was cracked - - it is on the sides only and almost feels like it is loose - yet dentists have examined it and say it is not loose. Also - most of the time when the tooth hurts, my jaw (on left only) hurts - the pain goes back to from of ear area.
About a week ago I had such a terrible "toothache" I could hardly stand it. I took two rapid release tylenol, the pain went away and I thought may be it had been caused by clenching my jaw during the day (without realizing it). Anyway, the pain came back again yeasterday with a vengence! My lower jaw on my left side has severe pain that lasts several minutes then subsides for a while. The upper jaw on the left side is also effected but isn't as severe.
For the first day, the pain radiated to the left jaw, and for a while seemed to originate from the jaw. Today the pain and pressure is better, but is now radiating to a slight soreness in the left collarbone area. I've also noticed that the pressure sometimes moves up toward the sinuses. I can also feel the pressure slightly in my throat. I have been experiencing some sinus pressure, along with a slightly stuffy nose and post-nasal drip.
For the last year or so I have been experiencing random episodes of pain on the left side of my jaw and face. It starts as a sort of a dull throbbing in my tooth and soon the entire left jaw feels that way. I notice that the pain comes soon after I chew gum or eat something sugary, or at night after laying on my left side with my face on the pillow. Sometimes I can even be doing nothing and the pain will begin. Unless I take a Tylenol, it takes about 15-20 minutes for the pain to subside.
Here is my story in a nutshell. In 2005 I began have nerve pain and muscle spasms in my mid back. One time the muscle spasm was so intense that it literally traveled up my back, thru my left neck side and pulled the left side of my face down. After that it developed into neck pain, front and back, and excrutiating arm pain frequently. I felt and now feel all the time that something is pulling my mouth down. It feels like my neck muscles and then my mid back pulling everything down.
So I went in for another adjustment. Now the pain in the top left side of my mouth (side of the filling) is gone but I still have continuous pain in my jaw. I've received my night guard and the dentist says that the guard will solve my jaw pain.
It's been a few days and I'm still having jaw pain. I wake up with pain and I have to take advil or tylenol several times a day. I also have sensitivity to cold.
What I have is actually in the neck and jaw. the left side of my neck hurts toward the side (main muscle/tendon going down from the jaw to the shoulder, and under my jaw, from what I can tell is inside my jaw. there are ridges on my jaw towards my chin that hurt, and also the space in between my jaw hurts. Don't know if it is glandular or tmj related. odd stuff. Cannot see my doc until next Thursday. anything that I can do?

i have this terrible pain in my left side of face... right now its just all my left teeth adn one of my bottom teeth is really sore that when i bite down i just want to rip my face off... when i lay down it feels like my face is coming off .... its terrible. my doctor thinks it might have to do with ,my TMJ and my dentist is not even looking at it... the whole side of my face swelled up and i have this hard ball like thing in my bottom jaw...
