659608 tn?1318289366 I have been reading that women may have that kind of symptom before a heart attack. I had Rheumatic fever as a young child, and have never been told I had any heart damage. I have heart attacks in my family, my brother has had several bypass surgeries, and has a difibullar in place, and his heart is working at 20%. Is there a possibility this could be heart related, or is there some other cause? I would appreciate comments from anyone who has had this or knows someone who has.

Avatar m tn Why was an angio ordered? Do they suspect the heart? I have recently been diagnosed with coronary artery spasms. These feel just like the chest pains I had with my heart attacks, but this last time it wasn't a heart attack. I do have a couple of blockages that do not require intervention at the mmoment, but I was told if the spasms continue that could change. Have they done other tests besides the angio? Give us a few more details.
Avatar n tn These symptoms could be a sign that you are having a heart attack or angina (a pre-heart attack). The pain from this is usually a heaviness in the chest, sometimes associated with shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, and /or sweating. It can spread to the shoulders, the jaw, or the left arm. Another cause of chest pain that radiates to the shoulder blades could be a tear in the aorta, which is a medical emergency. It would be most safe if you were evaluated as soon as possible.
Avatar n tn In my case it was more a burning sensation in the center of my chest. I could also feel it radiate up to my jaw and in my arms. I was never really short of breath, but I was nauseated and sweating. The last time I was also shaking. I knew someting was wrong. At times even now I have a strange tingling in my upper back between my shoulder blades. Have you had any discomfort of this type?
Avatar f tn It was constant but at points become real intense. When it was intense it felt like the pain was in my jaw on the right side also. I also felt neauseous but this started after awhile of having the pain. From what I have been reading online it sounds like a gallbladder attack to me. Yesterday and today I had diarrhea right after eating lunch. This has been happening to me at different points for almost a year now, anywhere from 5 - 30 minutes after eating.
Avatar n tn tightness in my chest (like indigestion, or like my bra was too tight); slight pain in my neck/jaw, on the right side; pain in my left bicep/arm. I was driving to work, so I didn't pull over. That was around 8am this morning. The pain in my neck/jaw and arm have gone away, but the tightness in my chest comes and goes. I just started this job, last week, which is why I continued driving to work, this morning, but now I'm concerned. Was I having a mini-heart attack?
Avatar n tn The symptoms you describe are typical for a heart attack in a woman. Woman will normally feel pain n the back rather the chest and mostly radiating to the jaw. The fact that it only lasted 15 mins is a good sign, but given the nature of your pain along with the timing, 4 am to 9 am is the most common time for a heart attack, I would be getting checked out.
Avatar f tn ve been experiencing stabbing and squeezing pains in my chest for a few weeks. I also have stabbing pain in left arm and left wrist, now I have a nagging pain in my jaw that won't go away. I am so worried. If I move a certain way or put pressure on my chest, it brings in the pain again. Can someone please help me?
Avatar n tn Yes I had last night in my sleep pain and pressure in my chest and my back and jaw hurt so bad that it woke me up, I no pain in my arm that I can remember?
Avatar n tn ve even had a mild heart attack, chest pain radiating from the chest to the lower jaw is a symptom of a heart attack, if you have any dizziness or feeling sick then see a doc straight away
Avatar f tn Sometimes I have body aches that make me feel like I have the flu. I also have a dull pain in my left jaw and sometimes pain radiating down my neck. My doctor has run several tests including thyroid function, glucose, and some neurological studies. Everything comes back perfect, but I still feel bad. Could this be a heart condition? Should I be more pro-active by seeking out a cardiologist on my own? There is a lot of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease in my family.
Avatar f tn What could cause chest pain that has the symptoms of a possible heart attack but isn't that? Ten years ago, when I was 38, I was teaching a class when I got excruciating, constricting chest pain. My left arm tingles, and my jaw had the same terrible pain and it felt "locked up." The "attack" lasted 5-10 minutes. My jaw hurt for days, and my chest and ribs felt sore, as well. When this happened, a coworker took my pulse and it wasn't even fast.
Avatar m tn You should get it checked out, I doubt if it's cardiac in nature as pain related to your heart don't usually persist over many days or weeks, but better to be safe. Ask your doctor about costochondritis, it is an inflammation of the joints where your ribs meet your sternum and can cause the symptoms you describe. It can come on with a virus or injury or just by laying or bending the wrong way. It's worth mentioning, but do get checked out to be safe.
Avatar n tn Since then I have had a lot of head aches and a dull aching pain in my jaw joints. The jaw/head pain comes and goes. The chest/back pain has mostly disappeared. However, the jaw pain and headaches are causing anxiety. I went to my dentist and he said I needed to get my wisdom teeth out. Perhaps this is the cause of the jaw pain... I tend to be a worrier, and believe this may be anxiety. But I'm just not sure.
370181 tn?1595629445 Thanks so much for your response, selma. I didn't think about the vagus nerve being a possibility and I'd never heard of the condition you called "silent reflux." I was just incredibly relieved you didn't immediately say "run to your cardiologst as it might be a heart attack!" That is what I was fearing someone would say.
1547952 tn?1293907781 It would really take a stress echo, where they speed your heart up with drugs. I had one of these a few years back, and they slowly increased the drugs, speeding up my heart. One Nurse watched the monitor while the technician did the scanning. They increased the drugs until I felt the symptoms and voila, the problem showed on the scan. As soon as the images were taken, the drug was stopped and within 2 mins my heart was back to normal rate again.
1127040 tn?1289718662 The pains or discomfort from Angina do not actually come from bones. However, when the heart is in distress it can make it seem like pains are eminating from anywhere in the chest, back, shoulders, arms, neck, jaw. All the local areas to the heart. A friend of mine had chest pains for several months and he swore blind it was a pulled chest muscle in the ribs. It wasn't until he had a heart attack/stenting that the pains finally went. His pains only occured during exertion, NEVER at rest.
15695260 tn?1549593113 Knowing the signs of having a heart attack can literally save your life. Avatar f tn I'm a 34 year old woman (and a smoker, I know it's bad and I am trying to quit) and there's a history of heart disease in my family (my maternal grandmother had her first heart attack at age 28). About 5 days ago I started getting alot of heartburn, 2 days after the heartburn I started experiencing a sudden severe throbbing pain in my left jaw. It wasn't tooth pain and it was deep, not surface pain.
