omg my jaw clicks and it hurts alot when I yawn or take a bite of something like a burger or whatever ...sometimes I can't even bite down all the way. It does it all the time, worse this past 6 months or so. It's been happening for about 2 years. it's horrible. what is that??

You know I may also be TMJ, that's what I have,the worst case. I get pain in my jaw, headaches, sometimes throat pain, and ear pain, and back pain, you'll know if you have it by pressure on your side jaw(both sides) Just my oppinion.

hi i get jaw pain alot at night. i have a nite guard from the dentist but it doesnt always help. i get some bad headaches which is muscle pain as i get bothersome shoulders. and advil and tylenol dont help at all. the smornig i woke up and my left ear feels full. it was really itchy inside but only the outside of the ear hurts not the inside at all. i can feel that my jaw joint has like a knot in it. its the headaches i cant stand.

It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.

ve had pain in top of my jaw by my ear lobe, the jaw is sometimes stiff and cracks , there is pain also in the gums around the back teeth on the same side of the jaw , the teeth feel tender the pain travels down to the troat and ear. Have no lumps or bumps around these areas. Booked to see my denist.

My daughter has been experiencing head pain around her ear, above and behind and the pain radiats to her lower jaw ... she noticed this 2 days ago and the only thing she recalls that can have an effect on her was that she wore ear phones in music class and wears earrings..but I don't know if this contributes to the pain or caused it.. I gave her tylenol yesterday and it didn't help so today I tried Excedrin....What can be causing this pain?

You say you have good teeth, then does your jaw click when you bite or chew? You may have TMJ, which can cause nasty jaw pain. I have it. Muscle relaxers are usually the best treatment and massage of the jaw muscles outside of the jaw under your ears. Also, place your tongue at the bottom of your mouth flat. Try to pin the tip of your tongue to your bottom teeth. Then try to open your mouth straight without your jaw popping out of place.

Ear pain, Jaw pain and Headaches can be due to TMJ ( Tempromandibular Joint Dysfunction). TMJ is common in patients with Fibromyalgia. Do you grind /clench your teeth at night? Do you mostly get this pain after waking up from sleep? Then most likely it's TMJ. Also, If your dentist mentions that you have some teeth-wear ( Attrition), then you are most likely grinding/clenching your teeth at night. Though I don't know what the reason could be for your throat closing up...

Yup, I get ear and jaw pain too. My jaw feels tight, my ears feel full, kinda like I'm 20 ft underwater. I get stabbing pains along my jawline and behind my ears. My mom is a dental hygienist. Her theory is that compression or inflammation is putting pressure on the 4th trigeminal nerve. I think it was 4th. Those stabbing, sharp, shooting pains are nerve pain. Pain meds won't touch them. Neurontin could help.

I am 40 years old and have been living with knifing sharp ear pain in my ear for many, many years. I have managed (somehow) to block it out, although sometimes it is not easy. I apply pressure to my left ear when the shooting pain starts and hold it there for a few seconds until the pain subsides. I always had ear infections growing up. A few years back, I went to the worst ENT I think on the planet.

Its possible that tooth pain can trigger pain in the ear as well. But it sounds like your symptoms are isolated to the ear only, right?

Hello. About a month ago I had a dull aching in my jaw. I also had some ear pain and my jaw was clicking/popping. I also had some tooth sensitivity. This lasted two weeks and went away. It is now two weeks later and the dull ache is back. I went to the dentist and all my teeth looks great, he thinks I may be clenching my teeth. I have found my jaw feels better when I massage it. I have no triggers, it actually feels better when I’m chewing. There is also some slight swelling.

I just had a small filling done about an hour ago in the lower back molar. I am now having severe Jaw pain radiating up into the ear and around the lower jaw down into the gland area. The assistant who did the shots did something really wrong I think. I have never felt pain like that. I thought she had electrocuted me! There was a horrible nerve pain all the way up my jaw to my lip and into my ear. Then it really hurt as she was putting the rest into the jaw.

For 5 days now I have terrible pain in my jaw radiating to my ear(ear is fine teeth are fine)..I ve had it before but not for so long and not with it affecting my speech. Should I go back to the dentist even though my teeth only seem to hurt in conjunction with the jaw? Or should I see a doctor since the pain is in my ear, jaw, head and a little in my neck? Also, I looked up jaw pain and saw some exercises that can be done to alleviate jaw pain. I did the exercises and the pain in my jaw practically exploded. Also, my jaw feels really fatigued like I have been doing a LOT of chewing when I haven't been really eating any solids because of the pain.

For the past 3 weeks, I have had pain when chewing or biting down in my right ear and in that part of my jaw just below the temple. My dentist and orthodontist have said my jaw is disaligned in the past (I look normal though), but I have never had pain. My back molars do not touch when I bite, and my front teeth bite right together with no overbite at all. However, the pain has just now come and seems worse when I sleep on my face funny. The area of pain can stretch from the lower jaw area right up to my ear and can even give me neck pain. Someone please help I have had ear pain for nine years on and off always in the right ear never in the left. The pain is in the ear and all around it and down by the Jaw when it comes on it is really bad sometimes making me cry. painkillers do not help and it doesn’t go away till I’ve been to sleep. So it can last all day. Anything can bring it on the wind.yawning.scratching. touching the ear. Eating.

The pain now is thru neighboring teeth into my cheeks and it is sharp. Second the pain is thru the front of the jaw and teeth as well. The jaw area in the back in also a little tender still. Not sure what I should do next. I have seen my OS three times already and OS said that the area is healing nicely, doesn't look like any infections there. Can you help please...
