Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain ear pain neck pain

jaw-pain

I woke up in excruciating pain all along my jaw, in my ear, and down my neck. It felt like I had been choked. It was painful to the touch and along my throat had a strange soft swelling. The pain also radiated up under my eye to my nose on that side. I was going to call the doctor but decided to just go to bed. I stayed there all day. Just touching the skin on my neck hurt. By Sunday, the pain was much lessened and on Monday felt nearly gone. Yesterday was not bad either.
I am having a problem with my left ear/jaw area. The pain will start gradually but increase over time. It casuses my jaw to feel tight and I have terrific pain in my ear. It hurts to turn my head to the right (keep in mind it is my left ear that hurts) and touching my ear causes near vomit inducing pain. There is a spot just below my ear that if I massage it, the pain subsides for a minute or two and then starts back up.
is your jaw feeling very tender around your ears? it seems you have a bit of what i think i have which is anxiety induced jaw / ear pain. i'm trying to massage my jaw lightly as i think one of my biggest issues is sleeping, and clenching my jaw while I sleep (which also affects my ears). i'm also going to the chiropractor to help with my neck... and about to schedule a dentist appointment so they can maybe take an xray, and see whther my jaw is misaligned.
I fell like my left ear drum is clug and full, it hurts so bad and itchy too. Sometimes my other ear drum is the same too. My neck, jaw and my left muscle are in pain, my stomach is full of gas. I fell like my whole left body is dead. I am in pain everyday and i give up to see the doctors because they wont believe me that theres something giong on inside my eardrum. So please if you have this kind of problem could you email me at ***@****.
At the same time it shot up my neck on left side wrapped around the back on my neck and settled in my upper jaw joint in front of my right ear. That hurt! The spot by my ear in the jaw joint was horrible. I did have mild sweating. Odd thing was I was talking when it happened stopped mid sentence and my husband said I was pale I sat in chair with a thud. I looked stunned he said. I tried to get my husband to take me to ER or call 911.
I'm wondering if anyone else here has experienced terrible pain not only in the jaw area, but terrible nagging pain in the back of the neck? It also refers down into my shoulder blade and lower back, but the neck pain is really awful. Also, it is made much worse every time I'm sitting down. Even when I'm in front of the computer for short periods of time, like only 10 minutes. Is there anyone who has this also? This is really affecting my daily quality of life.
i have bad pain in my jaw that goes to my head and ear and my neck i have had a blood test what could the results be
For about 2 weeks I have been having a low grade pain in my right jaw, seems to go into my neck at times. Ibuprophen does help. The reason I am concerned is that my father passed away from throat cancer that had gone into his jaw. His was a very disfiguring, 3 years of more aggressive surgeries. I have not made a Drs appt yet, but intend to soon.
The area of pain can stretch from the lower jaw area right up to my ear and can even give me neck pain. It causes pain when I open my mouth wide and always feels like the bones are 'clicking' and 'clunking' out of place. I have had phisio on the joint but that is only a stretch of the muscle and the pan is always present. None of the doctors I have seen can give me a strtaight answer.
It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.
Anyway, the pain I'm experiencing is located inside the right side of my mouth below my ear. Everytime I bite or add just a little bit of pressure it really hurts. I could feel my right jaw swelling inside, but i can open my mouth wide or turn my neck without it hurting. It really only hurts when I bite down or add pressure to it. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I tend to crack the lower back part of my ears, probably around the jaw area.
This has happened 2 or 3 times in the past week and will last several hours along with pain going down my neck and behind my ear. If it is a bad tooth im really scared to go to dentist because I had to have 2 jaw teeth pulled about 6 months ago because they were so bad granted, I have never had bad teeth before, anyway, getting those pulled were excrutiating and I was in pain for 3 months in my neck and jaw. I did not know at the time that I had chiari or I might have not had them pulled.
I have had a consistant sore throat, bit of ear pain, swollen glands and jaw ache, plus sharp pain in jaw when trying to eat, for over a month now. Dr gave me antibiotics but it hasn't helped. Has anyone else experienced this please?
After 7 months of symptoms similar to yours - I am still not sure if neck problems cause the jaw pain (and facial pain and ear pain lower back pain) or if TMJ disorder causes it all. What is helping: -Wearing a neck brace (inexpensive - get it at the pharmacy) seems to help. Espcially at the end of the day when my neck is tired. -Sleeping on my back. I used to sleep on my stomach - arms and lega akimbo. I think this put a lot of pressure on my neck and jaw.
I have been reading about my symptoms and it sounds a lot like this, since the jaw and ear started hurting. (plugged feeling in the ear) Also right side neck pain for a few days a couple of weeks ago. (I just assumed I slept on it wrong or something).
As I hit a high note (poorly) I immediately felt pain radiate from the same spot in my neck up to my ear. The pain this time wasn't as strong. I don't feel any pain if I hit a low tone in my voice. I'm lost as to what it could be and I think it's something as well as TMJD. Have I strained something in my neck that could cause that pain to radiate to the ear? Any help would be greatly appreciated. P.S.
I get congested, cough up yellow yuk neck is sore, shoulders get very painful, can't lay down or sit for long time, this pain starts a cycle when it gets bad I then have to go to bed with horrible pain in all shoulder on one side up the neck, head and into my right ear drum which feels like it's going to burst, with dizzyness and vertigo, nausa, ringing in ears & loss of hearing, it then goes back over my head and into the other ear and neck, it will subside after a few days but never goes
I know many people with this and it can cause headaches, neck pain, ear pain, all kinds of pain in your head/face area. First I would talk with your regular doctor then maybe a referral, if your doctor agrees, to someone who specializes in TMJ disorders. Please remember this is just a guess, so see your family doctor first OK. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Take care.

My question is about the right side of my mouth. I get severe pain in my jaw, ear, and neck when I lay down. Can this be related to the tooth problem on the other side of my mouth? Any advice would be helpful.
My father is 54 years old (non smoker) and for the past 3 years he's been having a reoccurring pain/swelling around the neck/jaw area (right hand side - around wisdom tooth but its not that). Sharp kind of pain that suddenly appears and is similar to nerves being trapped more or less. We have seen dentist, doctors and done x-rays, ultra sounds and so on but everything appears to be fine. It calms down with antibiotics but its no cure... Do you have any advice what could be causing this?
I just got back from a jog that I had to end abruptly because of the horrible neck and ear pain. I have had this problem since about middle school- exercising in cold weather then keeling over in head pain. What the heck is going on?
Ear pain may be from the ear itself (ear infection behind or outside the eardrum), jaw joint pain, referred pain from the throat. Tenderness on the earlobe or back part of the ear suggests an outer ear infection. Likewise the ipod earbud problem suggests an outer ear infection. These can occur from local trauma along with bacterial superinfection. See your physician for a proper diagnosis and treatment. Hope this helps. Good luck!
I am in the night shift and i also had a swollen lymph node in my left-lower-jaw-inbetween-the-ear portion and it's also giving me a piercing pain. the lymph is swollen because according to the doctor's diagnosis i have an allergic rhinities and my "maximus", (i don't really know what is the name) ---- it's on the inside-left-nose is inflamed because of allergy.
