jaw-pain

Avatar n tn I dont feel any pain until i open my jaw more than half way. My ear feels like theres a lot of fluid in it. I was thinking it might be an ear infection. But why would my jaw really hurt to open more than half way? It doesnt hurt when I chew either. Does anyone know what I might have?
659608 tn?1318289366 It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.
Avatar f tn Hi, combination of your ear pain and the jaw pain could be due to sinus congestion. There are many cases where individuals that suffering from sinus congestion also experience pressure in the ear, with earaches and even jaw pain. The earaches you are having may be an infection in the ear due to blocked sinuses. Other causes of aw pain can be due to infection of salivary gland like parotitis, infected foci, osteoporosis related jaw disarticulation or fracture.
Avatar m tn It sounds as if you may have TMJ.Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Syndrome is hard to diagnose and will cause excuriating pain. Here are just some of the symptoms... Pain in the facial muscles and jaw joints may radiate to the neck or shoulders. Joints may be overstretched. You may experience muscle spasms from TMJ syndrome. You may feel pain every time you talk, chew, or yawn. Pain usually appears in the joint itself, in front of the ear, but it may move elsewhere in the skull, face, or jaw.
Avatar n tn Itching, and a feeling of fullness inside the ear - usually the first sign of infection * Swelling of the ear canal * Watery discharge from the ear * Severe pain and tenderness in the ear - especially when moving the head and jaw, or gently pulling the earlobe. Unlike a middle ear infection (otitis media), the pain of an ear canal inflammation or infection is worse when you chew, when you press on the "tag" in front of the ear, or when you wiggle your earlobe.
Avatar n tn I am taking way too much ibuprofen. Had 2 crowns on bottom back 2 teeth in Feb. Continue to have pain in jaw/ear. Teeth don't hurt - I don't think they are terribly sensitive to cold. I have appt. Monday with dentist. What can he do - what can I tell him? Will xrays see if there is infection? What if I need root canal - what will happen to my crowns?
Avatar n tn That definitely sounds like a fungal infection. I've had a sinus infection and ear infection for well over a month now. It was so bad that I was going to the doctor daily for IV antibiotics. I was sent to the ENT who suctioned my ear and found I had a fungal infection. My ear drum also had a small perforation which affected my hearing some. He had me continue with the antibiotics and gave me eardrops. The eardrops smelled like vinegar and burned.
Avatar m tn m thinking it could be TMJ - which is a disorder of the jaw joint. It can cause many symptoms, including ear or jaw pain, as well as headaches, etc. Do you ever catch yourself clenching your jaw? Does your jaw crack or catch when you try to open it wide, such as with yawning? I would suggest starting with your family doctor - just to rule out any infection in the ear, however, if it is TMJ, the best person to treat it would be yoru dentist or oral surgeon. Best of luck!
1527510 tn?1392301344 I don't often post in here, and I am usually more confident in what's wrong when I'm feeling certain symptoms but this I'm not sure about. Just wanted to see if anyone else has an idea since it's the Easter weekend so only urgent out of hours or ER is open. My right ear has been giving me bother for about a week now. Always kind of 'annoying' and full of wax in the morning. I would randomly get itchy/shooting pains through it.
Avatar n tn Since October, I have had inner ear pain, neck and jaw pain, and sometimes shoulders and facial pain as well. I also get headaches and sore spots on my head at times.
Avatar n tn About a week ago it felt like a lymphnode under my chin was swollen and kind of sore. That worried me. Yesterday I started having ear pain on that same side. Today the ear pain is worse and my ear feels full, it's hard to describe. It hurts from my lymph node and into my jaw and ear. I am the type of person that always jumps to the worst conclusion. Could it be that I just have an ear infection and that the swollen lymph node was trying to fight it and lost?
Avatar n tn Over the course of a few weeks the pain started to subside and my jaw began to relax... Heat packs on my jaw to soothe the pain... He also suggested certain exercises to strengthen my neck and back muscles because they were weak from all the tension... I also did acupuncture... It also helped to calm and relax my muscles... Good luck!
Avatar f tn Honestly I dont feel any pain around my jaw, But when I open/close my jaw I can feel a cracking sound in the left jaw (yes around my left ear) but still no pain. The pressure I feel is comes very quickly either when I rest the back of my head on the chair or when I lay the back of my head on bed. Also this discomfort is very noticable when I close my eyes! Sometimes the valsava manuveur makes me feel better only for a few seconds.
Avatar n tn It sounds like an ear infection to me. Your ears are connected to your nose and throat, so it's likely your jaw pain can be radiated pain from those areas. But I would definitely go and speak with a doctor about it, because letting an ear infection run without antibiotics, if it's not clearing up on its own, can be detrimental to your hearing.
Avatar f tn The feeling of locked jay can be due to dental infection, internal ear problems and tetanus infection. Since you have pain in the ears, either you have an internal ear problem or an exposed root canal of a tooth due to pus or caries. This can cause pain in whole of head and neck region. Glands in neck and temporal bone pain can be due to this. I would suggest you consult a dentist and an ENT specialist soon. Maybe your PVP can arrange it.
Avatar f tn Any time I have tooth or jaw pain for any reason (like not wearing my night guard), the ear pain gets worse. Pain from the jaw / teeth tracks up to the head, behind the ears. Sinus infections definitely worsen the pain (which can spread to forehead, cheek, nasal area during infections).
Avatar f tn Have the Sam e thing.Got a sinus infection that infected my eye and caused upper jaw pain. And some in my ear.
Avatar n tn You have partially recovered from the upper respiratory tract infection. Also, it appears that you are having infection of the external ear (Otitis externa) or left TMJ problems. Try taking muclolytics (such as bromhexine/ambroxyl), pain relievers (such as Ibuprofen/diclofenac), saline nasal drops, steam inhalation, drink plenty of warm water and avoid chewing on the left side. Consult your doctor for the detailed examination and further management.
387767 tn?1345872027 Ear pain, Jaw pain and Headaches can be due to TMJ ( Tempromandibular Joint Dysfunction). TMJ is common in patients with Fibromyalgia. Do you grind /clench your teeth at night? Do you mostly get this pain after waking up from sleep? Then most likely it's TMJ. Also, If your dentist mentions that you have some teeth-wear ( Attrition), then you are most likely grinding/clenching your teeth at night. Though I don't know what the reason could be for your throat closing up...
Avatar n tn AT THE END OF APRIL, THE PAIN RETURNED. MY ORAL SURGEON CHECKED ME AGAIN, AS DID MY REGULAR DENTIST. IN ADDITION TO THE JAW PAIN, I WAS HAVING EAR PAIN, AND THE GUM AREA (WHERE THE TOOTH WAS) WAS VERY SORE. THE ORAL SURGEON REFERRED ME TO A GUM SPECIALIST WHO SAID MY GUM LOOKED OK, BUT I MIGHT NEED AN INPLANT. THE EAR PAIN CONTINUED, SO I WAS SENT TO AN ENT DOCTOR WHO SAID MY EAR LOOKED FINE.
Avatar f tn hello, you could have tmj-temporomandibular joint disease-it does cause dizziness, headaches, pain in and around the ear, pain in the jaw and jaw clicking and popping. there are some good articles on the internet they give you more symptoms and info about it. i am not a dr-- i do not know about fever-chills and throwing up. with that it could be something else. sounds like you may need to see a dr and let him or her decide what is going on. good luck and hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn For about 3 weeks now I have had severe pain in my right ear, my right side of my jaw, bad headaches, and chest pains. Nothing seems to ease the pain. I am just getting scared that it is leading to a serious issue. I am currently without medical too. Can this be something serious?
Avatar m tn The swelling and pain could also be due to mastoiditis, which is infection of the bone behind the ear. This happens when there is a middle ear infection, which spreads to involve the mastoid bone. You may need to consult your primary care physician who will examine you and initiate appropriate therapy. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
