jaw pain ear down

For the past 3 weeks, I have had pain when chewing or biting down in my right ear and in that part of my jaw just below the temple. My dentist and orthodontist have said my jaw is disaligned in the past (I look normal though), but I have never had pain. My back molars do not touch when I bite, and my front teeth bite right together with no overbite at all. However, the pain has just now come and seems worse when I sleep on my face funny. Sometimes it is so bad that it is difficult to eat.

It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.

Someone please help I have had ear pain for nine years on and off always in the right ear never in the left. The pain is in the ear and all around it and down by the Jaw when it comes on it is really bad sometimes making me cry. painkillers do not help and it doesn’t go away till I’ve been to sleep. So it can last all day. Anything can bring it on the wind.yawning.scratching. touching the ear. Eating.

That could cause the pain in the jawbone along with the pain in the ear. I have had it radiate through my jawbone down into my ear and neck and ohhh it hurts...good luck.

I am 40 years old and have been living with knifing sharp ear pain in my ear for many, many years. I have managed (somehow) to block it out, although sometimes it is not easy. I apply pressure to my left ear when the shooting pain starts and hold it there for a few seconds until the pain subsides. I always had ear infections growing up. A few years back, I went to the worst ENT I think on the planet.

omg my jaw clicks and it hurts alot when I yawn or take a bite of something like a burger or whatever ...sometimes I can't even bite down all the way. It does it all the time, worse this past 6 months or so. It's been happening for about 2 years. it's horrible. what is that??

If so, use a massage vibrator from behind the ear, to down under the jaw, working your way to where the clavicle meets the base of the neck next to the esophagus. I tend to see this in people that have high stress/anxiety or too much caffeine in their diet 2. And/or a possible misalignment or injury to the cervical structure of the neck causing referred pain and numbness. If you know a reputable chiropractor, pay them a visit to rule this out (or have it corrected).

I dont feel any pain until i open my jaw more than half way. My ear feels like theres a lot of fluid in it. I was thinking it might be an ear infection. But why would my jaw really hurt to open more than half way? It doesnt hurt when I chew either. Does anyone know what I might have?

The "sternocleidomastoid muscles" are most likely those which are giving you radiating pain from ear down to neck/shoulder/arm(Google for picture of this muscle if unfamiliar with its location). There are two of these muscles in the superficial layers of the anterior (front) portion of the neck that make the shape of a “V”, and they are primarily helpful in rotation, flexing and extension of the head.

What would cause my bite to shift to the right and pain at the joint of my jaw on the right? Could this change account for my having a constant eadache?

Hi For about 3 months my neck hurts, especially when i try to tilt my head back or down to the left. The pain radiates to my ear and up the left side of my head. I cant sleep on my right side , the pain is so intense. Should i see someone for this?

I am on amoxicillin for a sinuse infection and am experiencing jaw pain and can hardly open my mouth. It' hurts to eat and the pain is also in my ear and runs down my neck. What does this mean?

I have had jaw pain for many days, only on one side, now i have ear and throat pain on the same side, and my jaw hurts so bad, like I had been punched (or so I assume) really har din the jaw. That helped for a short time. There are days that I still wake up with pain radiating from my right jaw all the way up the side of my head. It can last for days. I take naprosen for pain. That usually helps a little but I would like to find a more permanent treatment. I was punched in the face in the jaw area several years ago, this has contributed to the pain.

The first root canal on #30 tooth was done on May 21 and then about five days later I started getting pain in the tooth area and thoughout my jaw area and into my ear. I went back to my endodonist who said it was not the tooth and then referred me to an oral surgeon/Maxillofacial dentist who said I was having jaw spasms due to the fact that I had two root canals done just a few days apart and my mouth was open for so long.

Now I am home and I just had two hours of numbness in my neck, jaw and ear. Burning in my upper chest area. The only thing that settled down was ativan 1 mg . I had taken laxis 20mg prior to the symtoms. My question is can this be related to the barrett's or a possible blood clot. It is the scariest feeling ever.

I consult ENT 3 more times,they are preferred antibiotics,I used antibiotics at the time it is cured few days then again repeated.present I fell pain in left ear inside and outer side of the ear down part and I fell neck pain and left chest pain ,left hand pain also...my age is 29years old. .I feel very bad..please give me good suggestion.

m not sure if this is tooth or ear related. The pain is definately in my jaw, but I could not point to a specific tooth and the pain shoots up to my ear. I'll also try ibuprophen. Thanks for the comments!

I just had a small filling done about an hour ago in the lower back molar. I am now having severe Jaw pain radiating up into the ear and around the lower jaw down into the gland area. The assistant who did the shots did something really wrong I think. I have never felt pain like that. I thought she had electrocuted me! There was a horrible nerve pain all the way up my jaw to my lip and into my ear. Then it really hurt as she was putting the rest into the jaw.

What is the cause for sudden pain and numbness in the ear and jaw joint? I am a 22 year old female and I have been experiencing these symptoms since yesterday. I was fine until the evening when I touched my right ear (towards the inside) and minced in pain. This has happened 2 or 3 times in the past week and will last several hours along with pain going down my neck and behind my ear. If it is a bad tooth im really scared to go to dentist because I had to have 2 jaw teeth pulled about 6 months ago because they were so bad granted, I have never had bad teeth before, anyway, getting those pulled were excrutiating and I was in pain for 3 months in my neck and jaw. I did not know at the time that I had chiari or I might have not had them pulled.
