Common Questions and Answers about Jaw pain by the ear

jaw-pain

Avatar f tn Any time I have tooth or jaw pain for any reason (like not wearing my night guard), the ear pain gets worse. Pain from the jaw / teeth tracks up to the head, behind the ears. Sinus infections definitely worsen the pain (which can spread to forehead, cheek, nasal area during infections).
Avatar n tn There is now a small bump located directly under my ear, behind my earlobe on my neck inbetween my jaw line and the large muscle on the right side of my neck, that little soft spot or pocket inbetween the skull and jaw.... The pain is moving into my ear and causing me to have headaches all through the day all on the right side of my head. Any ideas what this could be from? Is it worth going to the doctor for or should it go away? Thanks in advance for your help.
Avatar f tn What would cause my bite to shift to the right and pain at the joint of my jaw on the right? Could this change account for my having a constant eadache?
Avatar n tn I have had a similar symptom. First I would get get an occasional feeling of cool liquid in my year but nothing is there. About a month later, my jaw on the same side as the "cool" ear got real sore. It has been a month or so now, with the jaw still sore, and the ear getting those cool liquid feelings now on a regular almost constant basis. Hmm... TMJ? I have some rhumatoid arthritis in my family. Maybe I am disintegrating. Just my luck.
Avatar f tn I have had jaw pain for many days, only on one side, now i have ear and throat pain on the same side, and my jaw hurts so bad, like I had been punched (or so I assume) really har din the jaw. It hurts to eat, and I have pain in my ear and a sore throat.....can anyone give me advise? Bad sinuses? Time to go the Dr?
Avatar n tn m not sure if this is tooth or ear related. The pain is definately in my jaw, but I could not point to a specific tooth and the pain shoots up to my ear. I'll also try ibuprophen. Thanks for the comments!
387767 tn?1345872027 Is it possible to have arthritis in the jaw? I get pain in my jaw right near my ear, and I get pain in my ear, especially the left one. I also get a sharp pains in my head on that side. I am worried. Doctors are not really giving me an answer, and I visited several dentists to check my teeth and for TMJ. My jaw kind of clicks when I move it, but not really any pain in my mouth. Since I have arthritis in so many other joints, is it possible to have it here too?
Avatar n tn That could cause the pain in the jawbone along with the pain in the ear. I have had it radiate through my jawbone down into my ear and neck and ohhh it hurts...good luck.
Avatar n tn I also have noticed that my spit gland located under my ear and in the area of where the jaw hinges is either swollen or has some sort of soft movable lump on it. I am getting headaches too. Could all of this be caused by that impacted wisdom tooth?
Avatar n tn Has anyone else had the eye pain and the ear pain with TMJ? I just got back from my GP and he said he thinks it is TMJ and stress. It is so strange though. It feels like an ear infection in my right ear but its perfectly healthy! Has anyone else had this? I'm starting to feel like I'm the only one. Also the eye pain, not constant but annoying and intermittent. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Should I have another MRI/MRA done or the one on Oct 31st is enough?
Avatar n tn Someone please help I have had ear pain for nine years on and off always in the right ear never in the left. The pain is in the ear and all around it and down by the Jaw when it comes on it is really bad sometimes making me cry. painkillers do not help and it doesn’t go away till I’ve been to sleep. So it can last all day. Anything can bring it on the wind.yawning.scratching. touching the ear. Eating.
659608 tn?1318289366 It is however more than possible that you could have an infection in your jaw, say, from an impacted or infected wisdom tooth. Tooth pain can often make the ear and neck hurt as well (just as an ear infection can make the teeth hurt...). There is also the possibility that there is nothing wrong with you dentally either and you are suffering from neuralgic pain.
Avatar n tn IN ADDITION TO THE JAW PAIN, I WAS HAVING EAR PAIN, AND THE GUM AREA (WHERE THE TOOTH WAS) WAS VERY SORE. THE ORAL SURGEON REFERRED ME TO A GUM SPECIALIST WHO SAID MY GUM LOOKED OK, BUT I MIGHT NEED AN INPLANT. THE EAR PAIN CONTINUED, SO I WAS SENT TO AN ENT DOCTOR WHO SAID MY EAR LOOKED FINE. MY ORAL SURGEON SENT ME BACK TO THE INFECTIOUS DISEASE DOCTOR WHO DID BLOOD WORK TO MAKE SURE THE BONE INFECTION HAD NOT RETURNED (IT HAD NOT).
Avatar m tn it was really itchy inside but only the outside of the ear hurts not the inside at all. i can feel that my jaw joint has like a knot in it. its the headaches i cant stand. alot of morning i wake up with one and im guessing its due to this jaw pain. is only on left side. do i go to the dentist or dr for this? had my wisdoms out yrs ago and had a bad infection, could this have anything to do with that?
1446980 tn?1286838538 yes many of us have reported jaw pain as well as eye pains...ear fullness too. With the ears I also get ringing , buzzing, and even what feels like an ice pick jabbing pain..... I also asked my dentist to rule out TMJD....as many times we r told that is what the pain is from...mine was not.
Avatar n tn I dont feel any pain until i open my jaw more than half way. My ear feels like theres a lot of fluid in it. I was thinking it might be an ear infection. But why would my jaw really hurt to open more than half way? It doesnt hurt when I chew either. Does anyone know what I might have?
Avatar n tn You know I may also be TMJ, that's what I have, the worst case. I get pain in my jaw, headaches, sometimes throat pain, and ear pain, and back pain, you'll know if you have it by pressure on your side jaw(both sides) Just my oppinion.
Avatar f tn But since i stud and everything recently i am having a sharp pain behind my ears so any response over it? The pain is kinda similar to the pain i had when i got facial paralysis..
Avatar n tn Also, you might go to a dentist specializing in TMJ disorders or a maxillofacial specialist, because a problem with the jaw is strongly suspect with headache on the side with jaw pain. Do you clench or grind your teeth when you sleep? I'm a clencher myself and I have both joints with arthritis and joint disc dislocations, with one of them out of place even when I open my mouth (called without reduction, I believe).
Avatar f tn I have developed a blue spot on the chewing surface of the tooth. I am facial pain around by jaw and ear. I had jaw surgery 10 years ago with plates and screws. Could the jaw pain be from the plates and screws in by jaw.
Avatar f tn I was in a collision with another person in april 2010 i had a concussion and bruised jaw and have been going to the chiropractor ever since. my concern is that i still have jaw pain that extends from my temple through my ears and into my jaw. i get headaches occasionally and sometimes have pain when i open my mouth too far...what to do?
Avatar n tn the nose cleared slightly but i am still blowing my nose as its still slightly block. but the part below my left ear around the jaw joint area became more uncomfortable. what could be the problem?
645390 tn?1338555377 When I was having severe jaw pain radiating to the ear and whole side of my face, both of these worked for me.The pain was the same as TN, in fact, they were having trouble edeciding if it was TMJ, TMD, or TN. It turned out to be an internal derangment of the temporal-mandibular disc. Cause by arthritis, the disc has shifted out of place. I didn't even know the jaw had a disc, LOL. I hope this helps you some, I know how painful it can be. Maybe from too many loud fireworks?
Avatar f tn I have been having headaches and i think it is cause by my jaw pain and ear pain but i dont know what to do i have also taken tylenol and it gets rid of the pain for 20 min. before i have to take more what should i do now?
Avatar m tn Pain usually appears in the joint itself, in front of the ear, but it may move elsewhere in the skull, face, or jaw. TMJ syndrome may cause ear pain, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), and hearing loss. Sometimes people mistake TMJ pain for an ear problem or sinus problem, such as an infection, when the ear or sinus' is not the problem at all. Imaging: X-rays may be taken of the mouth and jaw. CT or MRI may also be used.
