190673 tn?1259203266 I get headache that is mainlyon the back of my head and when I apply something cold to my jaw area the headache usually goes away. But I have read that TMJ can cause dizziness, anxiety etc while contrary to that, some people claim it cannot. Can someone with knowledge tell me the symptoms of TMJ and does it cause anxiety or vice versa?
146298 tn?1258712247 They go from my eye to my jaw and specific points of pain are jaw, base of skull, top of skull, behind ear, where shoulder meets neck. When I have such a headache I am very dizzy, technically it's vertigo. After the ache has begun my nostril slowly closes itself and adds a bit to the pressure, but I've had sinus headaches and this is different. Something in my head seems to be swelling and blocking the nasal passage rather than the nasal passage being blocked and causing the pain.
Avatar f tn What would cause my bite to shift to the right and pain at the joint of my jaw on the right? Could this change account for my having a constant eadache?
Avatar n tn sound on opening the jaw. This can also be caused by stress, malocclusion and jaw clenching. Continue your medications as prescribed. A headache journal may also help to identify possible triggers. However, if it persists, you could also benefit from further evaluation including imaging studies. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn It is very closely associated to the TMJ and completely responsible for your jaw and tooth functions. It feeds sensation and function to your jaws, face, tongue, sinus, palate, eyes, teeth, and lips. The trigeminal accounts for over 40% of the brain's processing. The trigeminal also has innervation and control over certain areas of the brain itself. The trigeminal nerve is also "married" to the facial, hypoglossal, and vagus nerves.
Avatar n tn I have noticed the pain go to as far as my jaw. I though it maybe something to do with my jaw because my jaw is set far back anyway (i have problems with my teeth) but I am getting no pain in my jaw. I have no vision problems. I was tested 2 months ago because doctor noticed I had large optic disks but the eye doctor said I was fine and it was physiologic disk cupping, meaning i was born with it and its not harmful.
389345 tn?1209322565 I went to my pcp and she told me to take ibproffen and hot and cold compresses for a week and if not better she wants to send me to another dr. to fit me for a jaw slint to were to bed at night. 1232362 tn?1333135406 I kept telling everyone it was my JAW. I had pain in my jaw and it would shoot up into my brain and then cause a serious migraine. All they wanted to do was put me on this awful medication that I hated and it did nothing to relieve pain in jaw and head. Finally I went on the internet and researched about Jaw and Migraines and found 2 Drs. in my area that treated that very problem. I called, made an appt. The Dr. was my hero.
Avatar f tn I also do stretching of my neck and shoulders, even my jaw area. (like opening and closing jaw and moving it from side to side, etc.). Drop head down on chest and move from side to side holding as you go. You should feel a stretch. Take your chin and jut it out and move it side to side, up and down, slowly stretching as you go. You can get an ice pack and put it where you currently feel pain for the head ache. Anyone who can give you a massage?
Avatar n tn Also, you might go to a dentist specializing in TMJ disorders or a maxillofacial specialist, because a problem with the jaw is strongly suspect with headache on the side with jaw pain. Do you clench or grind your teeth when you sleep? I'm a clencher myself and I have both joints with arthritis and joint disc dislocations, with one of them out of place even when I open my mouth (called without reduction, I believe).
Avatar f tn My oral surgeon suggested some exercises I could do and it did help a little. The instant headache pain i had went away because the regular jaw joint pain I was having suddenly didn't reach my right eye . I have had no improvement since and my o/s wants me to start therapy. Will this help ? Starting to think there will be no end to this , each meal is painful , getting really sick of this.
Avatar f tn I got this headache on the right side of my head and it was a really bad sharp pain and I was chewing gum and the whole side of my jaw are face hurt really bad and got really tense pain effected my whole half side of my head and I got a nose bleed what could cause this??
Avatar n tn See if a night guard or flat planed stabilization splint (or whatever) would be of benefit to you. I wear the latter for TMJ problems, jaw arthritis, and night clenching. It helps my headache situation considerably. I once was told with little tingly feelings on my head that that was muscle spasms (a neurologist told me).
Avatar m tn It's been about a month now since this whole thing started, and there are many factors that I think may be relevant. First off, the pain starts on my right side just where the head meets the neck, and radiates forward. I had a sinus infection that I was on antibiotics for - it was focused behind my eyes. I missed a day but finished the last three pills after that - I woke up out of nowhere with a headache radiating from that area, but all the way across the back (not on only one side).
504930 tn?1210512101 I have been reading about my symptoms and it sounds a lot like this, since the jaw and ear started hurting. (plugged feeling in the ear) Also right side neck pain for a few days a couple of weeks ago. (I just assumed I slept on it wrong or something).

Avatar f tn Hi lily0078, Have you seen a doctor about this headache yet? If a headache does not go away with home treatment after that much time has passed, it is important to see a doctor in order to get a proper diagnosis. There are two types of headaches: primary headaches and secondary headaches. A primary headaches is not caused by a separate disease, illness or an injury. Examples of primary headaches include: migraines and tension headaches.
Avatar m tn Over the past few months it has affected my jaw and ears. I now in addition to the headaches and tightness in my head have a fatigued jaw and pressure in my ears as well. My jaw feels as if I have been gnawing on beef jerky for hours, and my ears feel like I am driving through mountains (sensation of popping) as well. I have been to a neurologist and had a brain scan (negative), physical therapy, chiropractor, massage therapy, dentist and orthodontist.
Avatar f tn I have been having headaches and i think it is cause by my jaw pain and ear pain but i dont know what to do i have also taken tylenol and it gets rid of the pain for 20 min. before i have to take more what should i do now?
Avatar m tn It got to a point where I would get fevers and headaches and some jaw pain. After the root canal I noticed those symptoms still. It went away after about 1.5 months. I guess maybe your husband's brain is still creating those symptoms and it could be his sub-conscious mind. It could also be something else but this is definitely a possibility. Hope he gets well soon.
Avatar n tn pain ,usually a dull ache in and around the ear, cheek bone or neck; headache especially in the morning, jaw joint clicking or jaw locking; Symptoms may be worse during certain everyday activities such as chewing or yawning, and you may find they are worse if you are stressed. I hope this helps. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn See if a chiro can adjust your jaw. I was amazed at how quickly my headache, neck and shoulder pain went away after one adjustment - less than 10 minutes. I am very serious. I only recommend chiros for musculo-skeletal isssues. I highly recommend them as somethinge to try for TMJ and sciatic nerve issues. Other that, I pretty much stay away from them. It might be both TMJ and a sinus infection though. Feel better.
387767 tn?1345872027 Ear pain, Jaw pain and Headaches can be due to TMJ ( Tempromandibular Joint Dysfunction). TMJ is common in patients with Fibromyalgia. Do you grind /clench your teeth at night? Do you mostly get this pain after waking up from sleep? Then most likely it's TMJ. Also, If your dentist mentions that you have some teeth-wear ( Attrition), then you are most likely grinding/clenching your teeth at night. Though I don't know what the reason could be for your throat closing up...
