Avatar f tn I'm a 60-year-old female whoI had a dental implant done three weeks ago, after my tooth broke. I think it's tooth #29. Since then, I haven't been able to feel my jaw, lower right teeth, or lip. Making things worse is the pain I feel when I try to smile or if I move my mouth wrong. The pain is in my right ear, jaw, and inside my cheek. I find it difficult not chewing on my the inside of mouth when eating. At night, I have a throbbing pain to the tooth next to the implant.
Avatar m tn Two days passed and the pain only increased. It reached the stage where I could not tell which jaw was sore let alone which tooth was hurting. After two days I went back to the dentist who prescribed me antibiotics and tolod me to pick up some over the counter pain killers and that I should see him the next day. I have been going back to him everyday for a week and the pain is not going away although it has changed.
Avatar n tn I had a root canal done almost a month back and at that time there was pain but not too bad and within a week the pain was gone. But now after almost a month the entire jaw where the root canal was done is hurting and it seems to be accompanied with some pain in the temple on that side of the head and pain in the ear too. So I was wondering is this is normal? Another question that I had was how long can I go before I I absolutely need to cap the tooth with a crown?
Avatar n tn 3 weeks ago I had a tooth implant (bottom wisdom tooth plus adjacent tooth). The swelling of the gum next to the implant extended to the next 2 bottom teeth. IV antibiotics were given plus antibiotic tablets with little effect to reduce the swelling. The pain was mainly at the ear, the joining teeth and the back of my head. Then I started having swelling of the lymph node near the jaw with pain/discomfort spreading to the lower part of the neck (the side of the implant) and shoulder bone.
Avatar n tn I had a root canal #19, 22 years ago, the jaw below that area has been deteriorating noticeably over the last 5 years. I had the tooth removed yesterday, and used bone from a cadaver added to keep the gum from collapsing, which I am calling a graft below (sorry if the terminology is incorrect) The jaw xray under 19 appeared very open it appeared to be an oblong shape (gray not speckled) the lack of bone density 1.75" to approximately .
1058622 tn?1254346187 The tooth began to fall out, piece by piece, and was painful at times, but I ignored it. Now, after it happened to another tooth almost directly across my bottom jaw, the first tooth has begun to hurt to the point that I can not eat on that side. Today, I noticed a small swollen lump directly under the first rotten tooth. I haven't had dental insurance, and just applied when the pain began. It hurts badly, but hasn't pussed or anything like that.
Avatar n tn m not sure if this is tooth or ear related. The pain is definately in my jaw, but I could not point to a specific tooth and the pain shoots up to my ear. I'll also try ibuprophen. Thanks for the comments!
Avatar f tn I have just had my third tooth in from the bottom removed. On one side I have a crowned tooth (gold crown) and on the other I have a tooth that is full of filings. I need to decide between an implant and a bridge. The dentist suggests a bridge - as one of the side teeth will likely need a crown in the future. The oral surgeon suggests an implant, as I have a gold crown and it is a shame to lose that expense.
Avatar f tn Can I get a response from those of you that have had a Dental (tooth) implant done in the last few years. Did anyone have any problems with it, etc. I need a 3 unit crown and bridge but my dentist is pushing Implants. Having been in dentistry as an assistant several years ago. I'm not too up to date on them anymore. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Hello, It t is normal to experience jaw pain and other effects after a filling. However this pain usually does not last long and you can take some over-the-counter pain killers. Other causes could be either the restoration is too high causing excessive pressure on that tooth. It is possible to have some sensitivity from the white composite filling chemicals used .If the symptoms are severe and persistent see your dentist and get evaluated. I hope you find this information useful.
1806721 tn?1554333407 m still feeling very weak and sweaty with horrible headaches and constant tooth/jaw pain. Is it possible to get a fever/headache from a tooth infection? Or is the fever just an isolated viral infection? Do I need to be checked by my doctor or dentist?
Avatar f tn It took a loooong time to heal after the root canal treatment and retreatment, and has since not caused any pain. Recently, it was found to be (still painlessly) reinfected along with the surrounding jaw, and the endo can't save it. I have horrible teeth and have had a lot of procedures done with no drama, but I'm terrified of getting this tooth extracted! I'm in excellent hands with my oral surgeon, but I'm really worried about the recovery.
Avatar f tn s, neurologists, mri etc, they decided to pull the canine tooth (real tooth)... the tooth was fine.. still having pain, finally decided to take out number 9... end of pain .. they put an implant in #8.. and all was good for 2-3yrs, now pain in #8... the perio. said losing bone, and added bone... no help...
Avatar n tn t have it retreated, and asked them to pull it the next day. I have loads of pain radiating into the tooth, and my lip and jaw, and side of my face. They gave me the number of an oral surgeon. The oral surgeon refused to pull it without a referral from the dentist. He said it was like cutting off a finger. What? I continuted to do research. My upper left lip felt a little weak and with a numb heavy feeling.
Avatar n tn The decision on undergoing an apicoectomy versus extraction/dental implant should be made after consulting with your dentist and endodontist or oral surgeon. Good luck. 460185 tn?1326077772 ve had more of a reaction to the antibiotics than any jaw problems. In the end, it will add up to over $3,000.00 for the implant and tooth.
317787 tn?1473358451 Hi I had a dental implant with a healing cap placed 2 weeks ago on a lower back tooth. I have been eating on the other side, lots of soft food I have read that if the implant is in the jaw under the gum, you can begin to eat more than soft food after 10 to 12 days. If there is a healing cap you need to wait 6 weeks or longer. I also read one should stay away from sonic toothbrushes. I asked the surgeons office they told me not to worry, stope reading the internet, eat whatever I am able to.
1809287 tn?1316744936 afterwards, i felt somewhat okay, but about two to three days after i started to feel this uncomfortable pain in my lower jaw bone. the pain is felt in my jaw, my throat, my temple, my neck and my ear. i am having constant headaches. the painkillers do help to ease the pain and discomfort throughout the day, but at night it becomes intolerable and extremely uncomfortable, making sleeping quite the chore. i have been in pain for a few days now, and am worried as to what it may be.
Avatar m tn I had my teeth cleaned 3 weeks ago and the dental hygenist used metal instruments on the tooth. For 2 - weeks had a warm feeling in the jaw and soreness which I immediately reported to the dentist. I faithfully rinsed with salt and warm water and floss daily. The warm feeling has passed however I still have a soreness which almost feels like an air bubble is under the tooth. I returned to the dentist last week who said it looked fine and took an x-ray and saw no change from 3 weeks ago.
Avatar n tn As I have written, I have a molar with a large temporary filling that has been showing signs of irriversible pulpitis. I went to a 2d dentist to get an opinion on treatment v. extraction & implant. He said it will need crown lengthening but he still thinks it's better to try to save the tooth (he thinks in this case CL won't interfere with future placement of implant if/when needed).
