Avatar n tn I would assume at this stage the facial pain clinic will have some type of diagnosis for you. Assuming it isn't a "dental" problem with the crown or root canal, it seems like there's an issue with the nervous system. Unusually, the pain isn't gone when you are numbed. That implies that the nerve isn't causing the pain but something further up the nerves away from that area. When they numb, is the pain still there or is it just a feeling of pressure?
Avatar n tn There was a cavity that the dentist was going to try to just fill but he said it would be better to go with a crown because I would probably need one in a couple of years anyway. The temporary crown was perfect. No pain whatsoever. The perm. crown was ok for about a week. Then it started to hurt when I would chew on that side. There was pain in the tooth and in the jaw area. I went back to the dentist and he said my bite was off and filed it down. It still hurt.
Avatar n tn THe pain continued so the dentist removed the crown and gave me root canal treatment and fitted the permanent crown. The pain has continued. It is a dull continual ache that extends into my ear and jaw. Reading blogs online it seem that the nerve in my jaw may have been damaged. Anyone gone through similar experience? Do I need to go back to my dentist or to a neuro doctor?
Avatar n tn I have posted previously about pain over my front teeth after after having a porcelain crown over the second to the rear back tooth. I have recently examined my mouth and gum areas and am fairly certain that my right front tooth is now sticking up and has shifted slightly. They are tight together and when I tilt my head up I can see easily where they are no longer aligned. I clearly remember my teeth being straight before. Is this at all possible?
Avatar n tn The area was so sensitive that I had to be numbed to place the bridge. It really hurt after the bridge was placed. Now, 24 hours later, my jaw hurts, I have some ear pain, and I about died when I drank coffee this morning! Cold drinks also really hurt. Coffee was the worst. Is it possible that I have dry socket, especially after several weeks? Is it possible that there might be a little piece of old tooth left, and it's flaring up? This pain reminds me of how it felt before it was pulled.
Avatar n tn I came back a week because I was having really sharp pain in the same tooth. My dentist did a pain test and numbed just the never of that tooth, and sure enough I needed a root canal, now I had to fork out $900 for the root canal procedure. After the root canal was preformed I had the usual pain, but I took my antibiotic and pain meds and I was able to deal with it. I was schedule to come back in two weeks for the final filling and fitting of my permanent crown.
Avatar n tn I had a huge filling taken out of my tooth and never felt any pain. Core crown build up around the tooth and a temp put on, never had any pain. A month later he puts the permanent crown on, I feel drastic pain. If the dentist puts the crown on, make sure he does you occlusal right. I never knew if an occlusal was not done right, it could cause alot of things in your facial area to go wrong. Including TMJ. good luck. ps make sure you get a good dentist or expert to do any work.
Avatar n tn Remove the temporary crowns. Usually your pain will diasappear shortly after removal of temporary crown. If these teeth are vital, you may experience sensitivity to cold stimulus. However, it's generally tolorable. Then, go back to your dentist to adjust the bite until you feel perfectly comfortable with the temporary crowns. If temporary crown is not successful, the final crown is not likely to work well.
Avatar n tn The first month the crown was on it felt perfect. I get a quick pulsating pain, and itchy feeling around the crown. It feels like its on the inside of the crown. Near the gums. It feels like the crown just isn't a perfect fit. If I chew on the left side, my gums feel a burning sensation. Like the crown is digging into the gums. Could I be allergic to this crown? Resin? Could there be too much cement under the crown pushing on my gums?
Avatar m tn t have nerve damage that is causing this pain as I have had crown in previous years and experienced pain for only a brief period.
Avatar n tn i had my front upper tooth grinded for a new crown, first i had a root canat than the next day dentist grinded it and on 4th day he put on a new crown, but wen i went bacj=k home with a crown ,next mornning i wake up with sore crown tooth and pain i n my whole jaw,i thought its temoray but with two days passed it was still there,i went back to dentist and he told me bcoz the gum had not healed ,we shud take off the crown and put it back wen it will heal, while taking off the crown my grinded tee
Avatar f tn I have developed a blue spot on the chewing surface of the tooth. I am facial pain around by jaw and ear. I had jaw surgery 10 years ago with plates and screws. Could the jaw pain be from the plates and screws in by jaw.
Avatar n tn It may be related to the pain/pressure but I would imagine its more due to the crown being a little too high/big for your bite and it may be disturbing your natural bite. I would guess that an adjustment on the bite would be the first step to see how things go. It may also take some time for the jaw bone to calm down after a root canal because it is surgery and sometimes the jaw bone gets "poked" by the instruments used to clean the canals.
Avatar n tn Crafts a temp from some industrial smelling caulk and off I go numbed up. Later that evening my cheek, my jaw around that tooth, gums, all sore and painful. I iced it for 45 minutes or so. The tooth is throbbing like never before. I'm trying to figure out if this is normal and I should just expect to feel beaten and bruised like I was in a street fight, or is this dentist a butcher and I should get my money back and get as far away from this doc as I could.
Avatar f tn it always hurts.. its a throbbing pain.
