Januvia with type 1

Common Questions and Answers about Januvia with type 1

januvia

Avatar n tn It is taken orally along with diet and exercise, sometimes with other medications to help lower your glucose levels. How much and when is up to your doctor, not for anyone else to say, including yourself. Use Google search to educate yourself about Januvia [Sitagliptin].
Avatar f tn I have been on Metformin, Januvia and Glimeperide for a few years. They are not controlling my diabetes. She wanted me to try Victoza and give up the Januvia. I got over fear of giving myself the shot, but on the 3rd day I began to get sick. On the 4th and 5th days I couldn't even go to work. Changed shot to before bed instead of morning and it made no difference. After a little over a week I stopped it. Lost 5 lbs cause I couldn't eat anything.

Avatar f tn 81 year old Mom on Glip/Metform 5-500 1 1/2 pills breakfast-lunch-dinner and 50mg Januvia breakfast and dinner. Can these be increased or is insulin next?
Avatar f tn Some of these medications should be uptitrated by his cardiologist to allow for the maximum dose as he tolerates them (namely, Ramipril and Metoprolol). His Plavix should continue for either several months up to 1-2 years depending on the type of stent he received at the time of his percutaneous coronary intervention (bare metal stent vs. drug-eluting). As with most medications, daily compliance with all of these is imperative for maintaining healthy cardiovascular fitness.
Avatar n tn I'm a type II diabetic diagnosed this year with food allergies: corn, peanuts, soybeans, eggs and lettuce and various things in those families. That puts a great many "health" and low fat foods off my list and diabetic staples like eggs are a fond memory. I can't find any information out there to help me balance these evils (diabetes and allergies) against each other.
Avatar f tn my defibrilator fired 8 times in 40 minutes as my heart was out of control) Normally I am a happy person, look on the bright side type of person and have met my heart problems head on with no pity parties and a very positive outlook. But the D word is totally embarressing and I am so very ashamed of having this disgusting disease. Does anyone have any words of advice and could someone let me know if I am eating enough food.
Avatar f tn What does this sound like, and what can I do about it? I am a Type 2 Diabetic, and take Metformin, Januvia, and Zoloft for anxiety.
Avatar n tn You can take Januvia with or without food. Constant morning fasting levels of 150-160 mg/dl may direct your doctor to start you on insulin, or up your oral meds.

Avatar n tn I ask because it is difficult to determine how long it may take Januvia to take affect with your personal medical history. After one week, I suggest you notify your doctor and let him/her know that your levels remain higher than normal.
Avatar n tn I have pain in the very upper back of my legs and the inside of my legs where the thigh meets the body. It began a few weeks ago. I am 64 and have been a type 2 diabetic for 5 years. I also have been treated for hypertension and high cholesterol levels since the age of 50. I take daily Glucophage 500 x 2, Januvia 100, Actos 30 (newly prescribed), Lisinopril 40, Amlodopine 10 (newly prescribed), and HCTZ 25. What do you think is the cause of my pain? Thanks.
Avatar f tn 81 yr. old Mom taking Glip/metform 5-500 1 1/2 pills breakfast/lunch/dinner and Januvia 5omg breakfast and dinner. Blood sugar still not under control. Can these be increased or is insulin next step?
Avatar n tn Some meds that can cause nausea and other GI complaints are best taken with food. Eating some food usually helps with these side effects. You can ask your doctor to be certain if this could help your side effects. Plus you could discuss changing meds. BTW There is a combination pill Janumet that c ombines Metformin and Januvia. This may be helpful to you as well.
Avatar n tn I take metformin 500mg twice a day & Januvia 100mg at bedtime. I was diagnosed type 2, about month & half ago. I take multivitiamins during day. At bedtime I take the min amount of magnesium & potassium (for night leg cramps) & aloe vera in a half glass of protien shake. For days now, I have had diarrehia. My morning fastings numbers are 95-110, now, for days, but now my day numbers have jumped to 135-138, just today, after having diarrehia for a few days.
1236243 tn?1277680851 Don't do air-shots. They are unnecessary with the pen type of delivery. The only time an air shot is necessary is when you open a new pen. 1 Time per pen only. If you are on the 1.2mg dosage a pen should last you 2 weeks.
488724 tn?1253551235 it helped in the beginning but now im starting to feel nauseaous again, and slowly getting worse everytime. I am a 21 yr old Type 2 Diabetic, could it have something to do with that? Or is it unrelated? This discussion is related to Chronic nausea after eating.
Avatar m tn I exercise every morning by walking 2 miles. I am a type 2 diabetic. I do not eat before exercise at five thirty every day. I am taking metformin glimperide januvia and atenolol for my high blood pressure. Before i exercise blood sugars are 156. After exercise they go to 226. Why? I take my meds about fifteen minutes before my exercise routine. Blood sugars continusously drop as the day goes on. before dinner time they can be 100. after eating they drop to 60 sometimes.
Avatar n tn I believe we can talk ourselves into one. I would recommend that you talk to your doctor again see if he knows anyone who deals with type 1 diabetes and anxiety or depression. My son found such success with this approach. I might also suggest that you go to www.jdrf.org and click on ODST (Online Diabetes Support Team) This is a one on one, where volunteers dealing with the same issues can give a more ongoing dialogue. Please watch for other comments on this thread. This is a great forum.
Avatar n tn I am a mom of a type 1 diabetic who is on the pump, not a physician.
Avatar n tn I have a 19 year old with type 1 who was diagnosed 3 years ago. He is now NOT taking care of himself, no blood glucose testing, not bolusing (on his pump), eating all the wrong foods. We tried taking his car away. but he has school and work to go to. We tried grounding him, but he sits around all day while we are at work. Now that he has a job with his own money and is mobile he lives on fast food, candy and regular pop that he can go out and buy on his own.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with genital herpes type 1 but i'm confused as to what this means. There isn't a very clear idea given on any of the health sites i'm tried and I was too distraught to ask the nurses at the clinic i first went to. How does type one differ from type two? Does this mean i'm more or less likely to pass it on? Will i be having more outbreaks?
