I am on Januvia 50 mg and Amaryl 1mg. My doctor told me to eat 3 meals a day plus a snack at bed time. I have lived by the Atkins diet and don't eat carbs and don't care for sweets. I cry all the time and feel life is no longer worth living.

You can take Januvia with or without food. Constant morning fasting levels of 150-160 mg/dl may direct your doctor to start you on insulin, or up your oral meds.

Some meds that can cause nausea and other GI complaints are best taken with food. Eating some food usually helps with these side effects. You can ask your doctor to be certain if this could help your side effects. Plus you could discuss changing meds. BTW There is a combination pill Janumet that c ombines Metformin and Januvia. I have been on Metformin, Januvia and Glimeperide for a few years. They are not controlling my diabetes. She wanted me to try Victoza and give up the Januvia. I got over fear of giving myself the shot, but on the 3rd day I began to get sick. On the 4th and 5th days I couldn't even go to work. Changed shot to before bed instead of morning and it made no difference. After a little over a week I stopped it. Lost 5 lbs cause I couldn't eat anything.

I'm a type II diabetic diagnosed this year with food allergies: corn, peanuts, soybeans, eggs and lettuce and various things in those families. That puts a great many "health" and low fat foods off my list and diabetic staples like eggs are a fond memory. it helped in the beginning but now im starting to feel nauseaous again, and slowly getting worse everytime. I am a 21 yr old Type 2 Diabetic, could it have something to do with that? We have decrmy Lantus to 10eased units in the even. and 1/2 Amaryl in the a.m. and p.m. I also take Januvia 100mg, and 2000 mg Metformin a day. My A1c has been 6.6 for a few years now, but have moved and have a new Dr. who wanted me to try the Victoza. My BS are running 154 (No lower) to as high as 272. OCCASIONALLY I might have a reading as high as 272 (My B'day celebration had to many sweets) :(. but not this high On a regular basis.

But my doctor is not in that school, he is happy for readings under 7.00.

I want to know if it will do harm to take both menications can i take januvia for diabetic and phentermine at the same time or will i get a reaction to the medication

i have to workout like crazy and eat very little to get close to those and thats also with taking another med with the metformin. I would say something is very wrong with what they are trying to do.

I know januvia can cause joint pains. Did she have these pains bedore she started taking her meds? It can also be totally unrelated.

i am losing my insurance so i cant take januvia. What should i take?

Hi Driven, you need to go through them and see for your self about the side effects, but there a lot of drugs out that cause ED as side effects, if yoiu dont now have your drug data sheets anymore just google them.

81 year old Mom on Glip/Metform 5-500 1 1/2 pills breakfast-lunch-dinner and 50mg Januvia breakfast and dinner. Can these be increased or is insulin next?

Hi, I recently posted about severe side effects I was experiencing with the drug Januvia , I had severe stomach pains and sore throat. My doctor has now prescribed Galvus and said they are from the same family as Januvia. Has anybody tried this drug? if so did you experience any side effects ,especially stomach pains? . It may sound stupid but I am a little scared to take Galvus after what happened before.
