januvia vs glyburide

Been on januvia for a week. Blood sugar is not going below 120 ...and as high as 250. Was on glyburide. Had trouble with BS dropping as low as 40. Doc thought I would do better with this drug. I have only one kidney so was prescribed a 50mg dose. Will it regulate after I have been on for awhile?

i am losing my insurance so i cant take januvia. What should i take?

Everyone is different so what works for me may not for you. I take glyburide,januvia and two insulins. My sugar is in much better control now and symptons(sweating,shakes tired)occure much lesss often.

I also take powder welchol at supper. I would like to take my 1000mg of Januvia at bedtime to help lower my morning blood sugar readings that usually run in the 150's to 160, Any cons to taking the Januvia without food at bedtime?

It may seem counterintuitive but hunger and glucose levels are two separate processes. Hunger is what your body craves vs excess sugar circulating in your blood stream. Make sense?

i m asking as haw the use of sitaglipin help in conlrolling the sugar levels.

Gradually the dosage increased to 1.2. Just recently I was taken off of Glyburide and increased my Victoza dosage to the larger dose. My doctor thought this would help me to lose weight since I've been gaining, not losing. About a week after the increase in Victoza I got really sick. I've had indigestion / intestional problems for years but it has gradually been getting worse. When I got sick I attributted it to the Victoza increase.

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and was on diet for a week. But the glucose level don't seem to fall in the normal range. So doctor put me on glyburide, that I have to start tonight. My concern is is that going cause any problem to my baby??? Has anyone used this medicine in pregnancy? Please advice.

They feel this is more dangerous than unknown possible risks from glyburide. I have read that glyburide is considered very safe in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters but there has never been any study of the drug in pg women that I could find. If it makes you feel better, go ahead and ask your surrogate if she would switch to insulin at least for a month or two. That will give the babies time to finish all of those early developments that can be so sensitive.

First thank you to everyone, ill get to the doctor very soon. now to 898, Januvia is good, it helped me lose a little weight even, i was on glyburide and the 1000mg of metformin and my numbers were always going down to 49 to 70 every day 2 hours after breakfast and and sometimes afternoon id have like 80 or 85. so my doctor put me on the januvia to help me keep my body from going to low... now the lowest ive been is 67, and high 70s.

All my results have been under 120 for the 1st week and now my Dr said I need to take 5mg of Glyburide daily. I read alot of negative things about Glyburide during pregnancy so I told my Dr I would not take it. Now she says I will need to be on Insulin. Does anyone know if Glyburide or Insulin are appropriate if your glucose results are all under 120? I thought medication for gestational diabetes should only be given if the results are very high but again I'm not sure.

my doctor wants me to change my medicine(from glyburide to methamorphin)is that mean that my diabetes is getting worst?I told them that I'm ok with glyburide because I'm using it for 8years now and I didn't see any bad effects on me.Can you please give me more helpful ideas?

then i saw the doctor and apparently my levels after a modified diet were still too high. he put me on glyburide 2x daily and i will go back on thursday to see if its working. of coarse i went and googled the medicine and i landed on all these websites where its a category C and not safe during pregnancy. my doctor explained that the baby is large on the outside but the insides (lungs) can be underdeveloped with diabetes.

I have been on Metformin, Januvia and Glimeperide for a few years. They are not controlling my diabetes. She wanted me to try Victoza and give up the Januvia. I got over fear of giving myself the shot, but on the 3rd day I began to get sick. On the 4th and 5th days I couldn't even go to work. Changed shot to before bed instead of morning and it made no difference. After a little over a week I stopped it. Lost 5 lbs cause I couldn't eat anything.

i have done blood test on last month and my dibetologist asked me to take glucophage 500 on morning and januvia-100mg on night.after taking the same for 3 weeks my fasting sugar was under control.i m an IT professional.when i came to my work place ,bcz of work pressure and tensions ,my blood sugar level(fasting ) is getting high. is it possible to take tahe same with glucophage 500 mg and januvia 100mg on night? will give any issues?

Is anybody here taking glyburide medicine while pregnant? I went to my appt this morning my OBGYN Dr is away for 2 weeks and she'll be back on dec 15.. The OBGYN that I saw this morning prescribe me medicine glyburide for gestation diabetes he said it's safe for pregnant woman to take it but my OBGYN told me the only safe medicine that I can take is insulin specially that I'm a high risk, I had 2 miscarriage in the past and I'm really scared and don't know what to do...

I failed my three hour and they had me on a diet and checking my blood sugar 4x a day. Plus I see a perinatalogist to checkon baby and make sure he's growing right. The diet didn't work for me like they wanted it to so I was put on glyburide twice a day. It's nothing to worry about really. It's just a pain to check your sugars all the time and not being able to give in to cravings is hard sometimes.
