Januvia use with insulin

Common Questions and Answers about Januvia use with insulin

januvia

Avatar n tn You can take Januvia with or without food. Constant morning fasting levels of 150-160 mg/dl may direct your doctor to start you on insulin, or up your oral meds.
Avatar n tn I am Type ll diabetic taking metformin & Januvia. My levels are climbing and the Dr. is considering insulin for me. I do not want to be insulin dependent. Trying to lower with diet changes but have other health issues that restrict what I can eat. I have high cholesterol (can't take any statin drugs to lower), diverticulosis, irritable bowel, fibromyalgia and now a mouth full of braces so am unable to eat many things because my teeth do not hit together to chew.
Avatar f tn Thanks for info. Will follow up with Dr.

Avatar f tn //www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-20815/lantus-u-100-insulin-subcutaneous/details. With regards to taking your oral medications and Lantus together, please speak to your doctor. For many patients, as long as you are checking your blood sugar levels, this is fine. But your doctor should guide you in this. Please let us know what you think and how you are doing.
Avatar f tn If it has been many years, then, yes, it is probably time for her to go on insulin. But she should not continue on with her blood sugar out of control, but should see her doctor right away to talk about whether other meds would help or insulin is called for. Sustained high blood sugar can have seious complications.
Avatar m tn i am losing my insurance so i cant take januvia. What should i take?
Avatar n tn i m asking as haw the use of sitaglipin help in conlrolling the sugar levels.
1273125 tn?1365077526 I use insulin. I use Humalin-N as my basal (this is an older insulin), and Humalog as my bolus. Combined with low carb eating, insulin can be an excellent tool. And best of all, It always works. It does need to be used by an educated patient, so that you know it's effects, durations of action etc. And you need to test enough to make sure you avoid lows. Seeing you already eat low carb, I would recommend Dr. Richard Bernstein's book "Diabetes solutions".
Avatar n tn Some will say that you cannot use with Medicare.
1236243 tn?1277680851 Victoza isn't insulin. It's a new injectable medication for Type 2's and sorry, camaro, but I don't know anything else about it! Btw I use insulin pens and find them very convenient. I have no problem adjusting dosage for my I:C ratio, though I can't do less than one unit. Just a personal preference I guess.
Avatar m tn Insulin is your friend not your enemy. Using insulin will give you excellent control (with a bit of learning how to properly use it), along with diet and exercise. Everyone I have ever talked to with diabetes only say they wish they had started insulin earlier than they actually did. Don't be afraid. take the plunge and do it. With such high blood sugars, the alternative, of not treating properly, is a sure signing of a death warrant - and one that is probably painful and drawn out.
Avatar f tn We have decrmy Lantus to 10eased units in the even. and 1/2 Amaryl in the a.m. and p.m. I also take Januvia 100mg, and 2000 mg Metformin a day. My A1c has been 6.6 for a few years now, but have moved and have a new Dr. who wanted me to try the Victoza. My BS are running 154 (No lower) to as high as 272. OCCASIONALLY I might have a reading as high as 272 (My B'day celebration had to many sweets) :(. but not this high On a regular basis.
Avatar m tn You have to be very careful with what you have on. I agree with Nana about everyone being different. But I really would call your doctor and report the symptoms and see what they have to say.
Avatar m tn Sorry to be getting back to you after all these months. I am maintaining a stage 3 and was on a 3 month regiment of vitamin d and we also eliminated metformin. I take Amaryl now, instead.. My blood glucose was out of control but my PCP put me on Victoza. That seems to be helping with the exception of BS levels being very low in the morning. My PCP has suggested she might take me off the Amaryl and just have me take more insulin along with the Victoza and Januvia.
Avatar m tn I do not eat before exercise at five thirty every day. I am taking metformin glimperide januvia and atenolol for my high blood pressure. Before i exercise blood sugars are 156. After exercise they go to 226. Why? I take my meds about fifteen minutes before my exercise routine. Blood sugars continusously drop as the day goes on. before dinner time they can be 100. after eating they drop to 60 sometimes.
Avatar n tn But my doctor is not in that school, he is happy for readings under 7.00.
Avatar m tn Since 1995 she is battling with breast cancer, and in 2002 she had a cauda equina syndrome and she has limited mobility, therefore exercise is not an option. Her recent tests showed that her sugar is very high (277). Immediately she prescribed Metformin and Januvia. Her body did not react well on Metformin and we switched to Glupizide 5mg once a day in the morning. She continues to have out of control sugar.
Avatar n tn there to get you started on insulin? So many people with diabetes are undertreated here in Philippines and then end up with so many (preventable) complications. Are you overweight? if so, losing weight may help. Try to walk or do some exercise after eating. Let me know.
488724 tn?1253551235 it helped in the beginning but now im starting to feel nauseaous again, and slowly getting worse everytime. I am a 21 yr old Type 2 Diabetic, could it have something to do with that? Or is it unrelated? This discussion is related to Chronic nausea after eating.
194838 tn?1303428544 mandukasan - kneel down(with feet pointing inwards, and sit on the ankles/heels, Vajrasan position), breathe in and breathe out completely and hold your breath, pull the stomach in, press both your hands on stomach, bend forward as much as possible keeping the head straight, hold for 5 to 15 seconds and come back up while breathing in. Repeat this 3 times daily to stimulate the kidney and pancreas.
1546050 tn?1293688410 Did you do the glucose/insulin tolerance test. Maybe your glucose levels are fine, but your insulin is high, because your body is resistant to it??? and that is why the doctor put you on metformin?
Avatar n tn Hello, Phentermine can alter your blood sugar levels, if you are going to try using it please use it with caution and monitor your blood sugar levels more frequently... if you notice changes and if your blood sugars are becoming too low then stop taking phentermine, and seek further advice about what you could use instead of phentermine. Remember that diabetes should be your priority.
