Avatar n tn Diabetes type 3 is also known as diabetes type 1.5 or LADA [Latent Autoimmune Disease in Adults]. I will send you private message with information that will help you. The medication you're on helps type 2 patients and may not be suited for you. The best thing you can do to help your self is test, test, test your blood glucose. Test before a meal to get a reference range. Then test 2-3 hours after a meal to see how the foods you consumed affected your blood glucose levels.
Avatar m tn My Mom is having type-2 diabetes , her pre-lunch blood suger level is 178 & post-lunch 275. She is having join pain in legs due to which she feels trouble in walking & cannot stand for longer time. Her age is 63. Doctor has increase the medicine intake but that doesn't help to reduce join pain she is having in legs. Any suggestion would be appreciable. Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn I exercise every morning by walking 2 miles. I am a type 2 diabetic. I do not eat before exercise at five thirty every day. I am taking metformin glimperide januvia and atenolol for my high blood pressure. Before i exercise blood sugars are 156. After exercise they go to 226. Why? I take my meds about fifteen minutes before my exercise routine. Blood sugars continusously drop as the day goes on. before dinner time they can be 100. after eating they drop to 60 sometimes.
Avatar f tn What does this sound like, and what can I do about it? I am a Type 2 Diabetic, and take Metformin, Januvia, and Zoloft for anxiety.
Avatar n tn I take metformin 500mg twice a day & Januvia 100mg at bedtime. I was diagnosed type 2, about month & half ago. I take multivitiamins during day. At bedtime I take the min amount of magnesium & potassium (for night leg cramps) & aloe vera in a half glass of protien shake. For days now, I have had diarrehia. My morning fastings numbers are 95-110, now, for days, but now my day numbers have jumped to 135-138, just today, after having diarrehia for a few days.
Avatar n tn I am Type ll diabetic taking metformin & Januvia. My levels are climbing and the Dr. is considering insulin for me. I do not want to be insulin dependent. Trying to lower with diet changes but have other health issues that restrict what I can eat. I have high cholesterol (can't take any statin drugs to lower), diverticulosis, irritable bowel, fibromyalgia and now a mouth full of braces so am unable to eat many things because my teeth do not hit together to chew.
Avatar n tn I have pain in the very upper back of my legs and the inside of my legs where the thigh meets the body. It began a few weeks ago. I am 64 and have been a type 2 diabetic for 5 years. I also have been treated for hypertension and high cholesterol levels since the age of 50. I take daily Glucophage 500 x 2, Januvia 100, Actos 30 (newly prescribed), Lisinopril 40, Amlodopine 10 (newly prescribed), and HCTZ 25. What do you think is the cause of my pain? Thanks.
Avatar n tn I'm a type 2 diabetic, but am not, and never have been, overweight. It runs in my family, on both sides. My last A1C was 11. I take Invokana and Januvia. Since last month, I've changed my diet the best way I know how. I only have 1 starch a day, and that's a whole wheat starch, 1 serving of fruit, and the rest is veggies, nuts, and seeds. BUT, my readings are still high at times. What else can I do? I go back in another week for another A1C and I really want it to be better.
Avatar n tn Some people are able to control Type 2 diabetes with losing and maintaining healthy weight, lowering carb intake and regular exercise. Some are not, and need medication. It is impossible to answer your question because every diabetic is different and it would depend on how high your numbers were to begin with and what you ate and did. Serious consequences (complications) from diabetes don't occur in 24 hours, they occur over time spent at high numbers.
Avatar f tn ve had peripheral neuropathy and diabetes 2 for about 7 years now. I see a neurologist, endocrynologist, podiatrist and my primary doctor and so far no real answers.
Avatar f tn I have had this problem for the last 10 years. please help. I do have type 2 diabetes and b vitamin deficiencies. I also have hypothyroidism (hashimotos). I take synthroid 100mg since 1995, Victoza injection, januvia, and hazaar and b12 2000 mg sublingual, b9, and biotin for the last year. I went to a dentist and a salivary gland specialist and they don't think it's a big deal! The ent prescribed rubinol to dry up the saliva which I haven't taken yet.
488724 tn?1253551235 Do i gotta push myself even harder with the work outs. I recently lost 50lbs, was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes the same day as hypothyroidism and was told my cholesterol was slightly raised, and im only 21. Funny when i weighed 230lbs, i was healthy felt fine, lost the weight, and now i got all these problems. But now i gotta lose so that i can get healthier like when i was fat. jk.. i know being obese made me get these problems. So anyways.. Thyroid medicine..
Avatar f tn I agree with troytroy that you need to meet with a doctor or diabetic educater to learn the basics of diabetes care. First of all being continually over 130 for fasting blood sugar is too high. Your wife needs to have her doctor evaluate her medication regimen and see if something needs to be changed. Also I'm guessing you don't know much about diet and exercise to help control Type II diabetes and this is very important to learn.
194838 tn?1303428544 Hi, I recently posted about severe side effects I was experiencing with the drug Januvia , I had severe stomach pains and sore throat. My doctor has now prescribed Galvus and said they are from the same family as Januvia. Has anybody tried this drug? if so did you experience any side effects ,especially stomach pains? . It may sound stupid but I am a little scared to take Galvus after what happened before.
Avatar m tn i am losing my insurance so i cant take januvia. What should i take?
Avatar n tn I know I am insulin dependent because I cannot take my pump off except for the rare few minutes or so without my sugar sky rocketing. Now would u still call this Type 2 Diabetes or Type 1? Hearing the words Juvenile Diabetes associated with Type 1 throws me off obviously because I was not diagnosed as a juvenile. But also the words Insulin Dependent are associated with the Type 1. So I DO fit into that category.

Avatar n tn CLBear, You might enjoy a diabetes discussion board that's got topics for Type 2s and Type 1s and for the stuff we share. I highly recommend this site: http://chat.joslin.harvard.edu:8080/~diabetes You don't need to register to read the information there, but you may need to register to post (it's free, tho'). Folks who post can choose to be anonymous.
