Hi, I recently posted about severe side effects I was experiencing with the drug Januvia , I had severe stomach pains and sore throat. My doctor has now prescribed Galvus and said they are from the same family as Januvia. Has anybody tried this drug? if so did you experience any side effects ,especially stomach pains? . It may sound stupid but I am a little scared to take Galvus after what happened before.

I just started on Januvia this week. I take many meds and vitamins, but the terrible odor of my urine just started the day after my first dose of 50mg Januvia. My urine smells worse than my cat's and very similar, ammonia perhaps? I'm going to mention it to my Diabetic educator and doctor and see what they say.

If it continues past a week, I suggest speaking to your doctor about possible side effects form the medication, or work-up of GI illnesses that are sometimes more common in people with diabetes. In the meantime try to stay hydrated and stay with bland foods. Take care.

Like... they said at 10mg there are very few side-effects and at 20mg there are noticeable side-effects. But, you obviously don't want to change the dose on your own, as this can be extremely dangerous! But, it would be worth talking to your doctor about if the side-effects don't go away fast enough. I just found out that my 12 week quantatative viral load is LESS THAN 615 IU/ML ,meaning lower than the level of detection in their lab. However, the qualitative HCV RNA is positive, meaning some very small number of virus is still detectable. Originally I had misunderstood the results as 615 IU/ML. I assume this is better news, but I thought that ANY number could be detected. Until I speak to my doctor tomorrow, can anyone explain this?

I also take powder welchol at supper. I would like to take my 1000mg of Januvia at bedtime to help lower my morning blood sugar readings that usually run in the 150's to 160, Any cons to taking the Januvia without food at bedtime?

As lagoya mentioned, you may or may not experience side effects. If so, they range from annoying side effects to serious side effects. If it's helpful, when I took flecainide, I had weird dreams, shakiness, tremors and gastointestinal problems. It wasn't horrible, but it was bothersome enough that the doctor switched me to rhythmol. That sounds more like an allergic reaction than side effects!!! Generally people that have issues with suboxone do much better on subutex, but what you went thru doesn't sound like typical side effects. Hopefully you'll have a better reaction to the subutex!

I am a week into the same routine...no sides to report here. From what I understand it can take a few weeks or maybe you won't have any sides at all. The side effects from this regimen, if you even have any, are generally mild, headache and fatigue are the most common.

Been on januvia for a week. Blood sugar is not going below 120 ...and as high as 250. Was on glyburide. Had trouble with BS dropping as low as 40. Doc thought I would do better with this drug. I have only one kidney so was prescribed a 50mg dose. Will it regulate after I have been on for awhile?

The first day I started the Z. (about 5 days ago) I got less pain relief and much more pain than I had with 5/375 Vicodin! That's seems totally wrong but it happened. Hi there! Well, I've been on Effexor for over ten years. Started at a very low dose and I am at 150 mg for a long time now. So, I can't say if I remember all the side effects I had. But I will say that I definitely got sick to my stomach if I didn't eat immediately before taking it. This went away after a week or so as my body adjusted to the medication.
