194838 tn?1303428544 Hi, I recently posted about severe side effects I was experiencing with the drug Januvia , I had severe stomach pains and sore throat. My doctor has now prescribed Galvus and said they are from the same family as Januvia. Has anybody tried this drug? if so did you experience any side effects ,especially stomach pains? . It may sound stupid but I am a little scared to take Galvus after what happened before.
Avatar n tn I also take powder welchol at supper. I would like to take my 1000mg of Januvia at bedtime to help lower my morning blood sugar readings that usually run in the 150's to 160, Any cons to taking the Januvia without food at bedtime?
Avatar n tn Eating some food usually helps with these side effects. You can ask your doctor to be certain if this could help your side effects. Plus you could discuss changing meds. BTW There is a combination pill Janumet that c ombines Metformin and Januvia. This may be helpful to you as well.
Avatar f tn I have been on Metformin, Januvia and Glimeperide for a few years. They are not controlling my diabetes. She wanted me to try Victoza and give up the Januvia. I got over fear of giving myself the shot, but on the 3rd day I began to get sick. On the 4th and 5th days I couldn't even go to work. Changed shot to before bed instead of morning and it made no difference. After a little over a week I stopped it. Lost 5 lbs cause I couldn't eat anything.
Avatar n tn If it continues past a week, I suggest speaking to your doctor about possible side effects form the medication, or work-up of GI illnesses that are sometimes more common in people with diabetes. In the meantime try to stay hydrated and stay with bland foods. Take care.

Avatar f tn Drooling or excess salivation happens in infancy and then we learn to overcome this as our swallowing reflex improves. Medications can dry out the secretions but you may have side effects, like dry throat. And as medications cannot be used indefinitely the best bet would be to voluntarily control this. Try to swallow the excessive saliva periodically, though initially it is a conscious effort, overtime it will become a habit which will control your symptoms effectively. Good Luck.

Avatar m tn m stuck on a long business trip at the moment but when I get back I intend to see an oral surgeon about it again. The last time I saw an oral surgeon she only looked at it and said it was geographic tongue, after asking me if I have had an HIV test(I am negative). This stuff must be like a red light for HIV or something, every time I show it to another doctor it's the first thing they ask.
Avatar f tn A foreign body in the oral cavity or a side effect of some medications can cause excess production of saliva .A muscle tone might be less than adequate. It is best to consult a doctor if the symptoms are severe or persistent. I hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!

Avatar m tn Facial rashes, night sweats and the closing of my throat. That is when I stopped using Bactrim. All other side effects are gone except for the closing of my throat that comes on and off, especially when I'm done eating. It's been going on for 2 weeks (since my last bactrim dose). It doesn't make my breathing or eating any difficult but is just very annoying. It stopped for 2 days and happened one late night, 2-3 hours after drinking alcohol.
