hi i am presently living in the Philippines and i have run out of my janumet 50mg/500mg tablets and they are not available here in Philippines the only diabetic tablets available where i live are Metformin 500 tablets, can i substitute these for the janumet ?

Thankyou both so much for answering so fast, I will change the time I take the Januvia and will make sure I eat enough when taking the Metformin. I want to give the Januvia a chance but as I said the stomach pain is not a side effect I could tolerate for too long. Thanks again for explaining how these meds work, it helps to understand.

I take (2) 500mg of metformin at breakfast and supper. I also take powder welchol at supper. I would like to take my 1000mg of Januvia at bedtime to help lower my morning blood sugar readings that usually run in the 150's to 160, Any cons to taking the Januvia without food at bedtime?

But can find no source for it in the Philippines. Not in Cebu, not in Manila. I have a pharmacy in Canada that can provide it, but it has to be shipped in ice and can take 5 days to arrive. Fed Ex won't take it. Neither will UPS. Have to use Canada Post which "promises" 4 days. But if it gets stalled in customs, it will lose its potency. Can't find in Hong Kong or Singapore either. My Mom is having type-2 diabetes , her pre-lunch blood suger level is 178 & post-lunch 275. She is having join pain in legs due to which she feels trouble in walking & cannot stand for longer time.
