Avatar f tn No, no one can tell you if you have liver disease or renal failure from what you have mentioned. I'm not sure the motives of that users scare tactics. However, you've been drinking ALOT and have pain in the liver area, that's not a good sign. I have been in your shoes and when I questioned the doctor about the normal tests...even though I had pain, he said I very well could have irritated/bruised my liver and it would not show up on tests.
Avatar f tn I have a 14 year old cocker spaniel who was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. She originally got sick a few weeks ago with pacreatitis, and when she recovered her lab work showed the kidney problems. We have been giving her fluids every other night as well as the epakitin powder with her food. Her blood report was better this last time. However she seems pretty good, has a good appetite ect and I'm wondering if there is anything else that could be causing this disease?
Avatar n tn Been on januvia for a week. Blood sugar is not going below 120 ...and as high as 250. Was on glyburide. Had trouble with BS dropping as low as 40. Doc thought I would do better with this drug. I have only one kidney so was prescribed a 50mg dose. Will it regulate after I have been on for awhile?

Kidneys with CRF are usually smaller (< 9 cm) than normal kidneys with notable exceptions such as in diabetic nephropathy and polycystic kidney disease.

Avatar f tn My 4 year old Rotty mix, Volk, was just diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease last week. I know his chances are slim, but he is a little warrior. I've been looking into different diets and supplements that can help. He has always been a special needs dog because of the abuse caused by his previous owners. I know he will always need extra care, but my little man wants to run and play with everyone else. He is currently on antibiotics, anti-nausea, prilosec, sub q fluids, and a renal diet.
Avatar n tn I have pain in the very upper back of my legs and the inside of my legs where the thigh meets the body. It began a few weeks ago. I am 64 and have been a type 2 diabetic for 5 years. I also have been treated for hypertension and high cholesterol levels since the age of 50. I take daily Glucophage 500 x 2, Januvia 100, Actos 30 (newly prescribed), Lisinopril 40, Amlodopine 10 (newly prescribed), and HCTZ 25. What do you think is the cause of my pain? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Do you know of any incidents of renal disease caused by cardiolite given in a cardiac stress test?
Avatar f tn s a good food for dogs in this condition. Or it is possible -with some good research- to home-cook a Renal diet. In addition to diet, IV fluids can be administered to correct disturbances created by the retention of uremic toxins. Epogen can be prescribed to treat the anemia of chronic renal failure. Although I have no experience in Juvenile Kidney disease, I do have a dog who was diagnosed with early-stage kidney failure last October.

Avatar n tn His kidney function test have been ok except for his latest BUN/CREAT ratio result of 29(the lab using 6-25 for norm). Should we be worrying, contacting a renal specialist and is there anything else other than tighter BS control and sodium intake that we can do?
