721243 tn?1230573586 We have research that shows even small amounts of weight loss(5-10 pounds) will decrease glucose levels, as well as help high blood pressure. Your current glucose ranges are too high and definitely need treatment to avoid complications from diabetes. Januvia is a good medication, although it may not be enough to bring your glucose levels under good control given that your A1C is so high. Insulin is one of the options and it is a good one because it works.
Avatar f tn For 3 months now I have been dealing with extreme high blood pressure. Avg. 220/123, accompanied by chest pain in my upper left size of my chest. This pain does not move. I have been put in the hospital 3 times within these 3 months. I get stress tests, ultrasounds, X-rays and blood work. All tests says I am not having a heart attack, but with my blood pressure being high it is making my left side of my heart to struggle and causing my heart walls to thicken..
Avatar f tn The pain is in both feet and ankles. I take five neurontin and a januvia every day because of postprandial high glucose numbers. I've had peripheral neuropathy and diabetes 2 for about 7 years now. I see a neurologist, endocrynologist, podiatrist and my primary doctor and so far no real answers.
Avatar f tn She drinks plenty of water during the day and I dont beleave her diet has anything to do with it she does not have UTI and she just had a test done on her Kidneys and they were ok. She does not have any burning or pain when she urinates. She takes two different blood pressure meds, Synthroid, Januvia oral and vitamins. What can be causing this?
Avatar m tn I am taking metformin glimperide januvia and atenolol for my high blood pressure. Before i exercise blood sugars are 156. After exercise they go to 226. Why? I take my meds about fifteen minutes before my exercise routine. Blood sugars continusously drop as the day goes on. before dinner time they can be 100. after eating they drop to 60 sometimes.
Avatar n tn Been on januvia for a week. Blood sugar is not going below 120 ...and as high as 250. Was on glyburide. Had trouble with BS dropping as low as 40. Doc thought I would do better with this drug. I have only one kidney so was prescribed a 50mg dose. Will it regulate after I have been on for awhile?
Avatar n tn I also take powder welchol at supper. I would like to take my 1000mg of Januvia at bedtime to help lower my morning blood sugar readings that usually run in the 150's to 160, Any cons to taking the Januvia without food at bedtime?
Avatar n tn Metformin is used to treat high blood sugar, and it can cause low blood sugar especially if not enough food was eaten. Yes unless I missed something I would say something is goofed. What was his blood sugar normally?
Avatar f tn I agree with troytroy that you need to meet with a doctor or diabetic educater to learn the basics of diabetes care. First of all being continually over 130 for fasting blood sugar is too high. Your wife needs to have her doctor evaluate her medication regimen and see if something needs to be changed. Also I'm guessing you don't know much about diet and exercise to help control Type II diabetes and this is very important to learn.
Avatar f tn But if she has been Type 2 for many years, been tried on different meds and still has high blood sugars there is a possibility she is no longer producing enough of her own insulin and may have to be put on insulin. A test called a c-peptide could determine how much insulin she is still making, but her doctor would know her history as I described above and have a good idea if insulin is now called for.
Avatar m tn It is important that you manage your blood pressure, maintain blood glucose, lipids, weight and ensure intake of vitamins, hormones and minerals. It is advised to visit doctors every 3-6 months, and regularly keep your condition at check. Keep me posted. Kind regards!
Icecream It is also important to know what to do when you recognize signs of low blood sugar. I suggest you have your blood sugar meter near so you can check things out if you feel this way. Low blood sugar is typically defined as a reading below 70mg/dL so have something handy (orange juice) or other quick sugar sources to quickly raise your blood sugar and follow that sugar burst by having a meal or at least a piece of toast. Good Luck!
Avatar m tn My question, is realy two questions, yesterday i got very ill profound sweating, sick close to passing out, i ate mint when i firts fely ill, then when realy sick a cough drop and abite of acokie, my wife bought me home, and my blood sugar was 91, i felt fab rst of night, blood sygar was ok late last night, i ddid skip one of my meds, because i ahdnt ate much/I am on Glipzide 5 mg twice a day and metformun100mg twice a day.
Avatar n tn Found it: 6.2 A1C is an average blood sugar of 131. Your typical blood sugars sound a bit higher than that, so I'm wondering if they have gone up recently and that A1C is older. Again, A1Cs are just an average and lows could skew it. Your daily numbers tell the story and if those are consistent then you want them lower. Doctors, unfortunately, have higher goals because the ADA is behind on what blood sugars should be and that is their guidelines.
Avatar n tn Hi, a1c of 11 is really high, and gives you an average blood sugar of over 300. This is dangerously high. Consider that normal is typically < 5.0, and even with diabetes people are recommended to be < 7.0. You may need to talk to your doctor about changing medications or even taking insulin. Reducing carbs is great and should help a lot, however, given how high your sugar levels are you probably would need insulin. Do you have a home meter?
1833444 tn?1325557062 If you have no prior history of high blood pressure i would think theres a very good chance as these meds do crazy stuff....... I have read here where those with high BP before tx saw it go down while on treatment...... Good luck going forward.
