Avatar n tn You have to get yourself properly evaluated for the fatty liver changes. Fatty liver can be due to alcoholism when it is called Alcoholic fatty liver disease and the other one is Non alcoholic fatty liver disease, which is due to obesity, diabetes and high triglyceride levels. This can progress to cirrhosis of the liver and can be associated with hepatocellular carcinoma. So, prevention or cure is by avoiding alcohol and treating diabetes, obesity and high triglyceride levels.
Avatar m tn I recently had an ultrasond-7/2014- and the findings were - Mild increase in heoatic echotexture. Can be seen in early hepatic steatosis.(Fatty Liver) GI says he doesn't think I have fatty liver. He thoght it was just inflammation. I am 5'1" height, 120 lbs. Don't drink alcohol, soda, etc. However I did consume quite a bit of fruit - mostly apples, oranges, bananas. I have cut way back since - no bananas at all. Had CT scan 5/2012 liver appeared fine.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with a nonalcoholic fatty liver and had a biopsy and it is 50% fat. I could not take statins and my cholesterol, trig, etc. was sky high. I finally got a doctor who found a statin that I could take without all the side effects and my numbers are going down but it's only been two months that I have been on this.
Avatar f tn But other foods and sugary drinks can cause steatosis (fat) development in the liver. Fortunately though, fatty liver disease can be reversed and even eliminated relatively quickly, when compared to the other etiologies of liver disease. By focusing on fresh, unprocessed foods as the main portions of his new, healthy diet, he can start on making his liver as good as new. Lots of fresh vegetables and fruits with minimal amounts of vegetable or animal fats - olive oil is good.
Avatar m tn Keep in mind that fatty liver is very easy to improve, but it will take disipline. You need to work with your doctor and try to improve your diet and add exercise as well. In fact, fatty livers can be resolved in just several months, n some cases. But you do need to make changes. Your numbers aren't alarming but they are a warning. Take care.

Avatar m tn Triglycerides (TG) are actually the fats which get deposited in the liver causing fatty streaks within the organ. Any fatty liver condition is associated with impaired fat breakdown. TGs are broken down and stored within the liver. When circulating levels of TGs surpass the livers ability to break them down they are just enter storage instead. This makes it easy to understand how chronic high TG levels can lead to a fatty liver.
Avatar f tn Liver problems including hepatitis are easily detected by an ultrasound scan and liver enzymes (which are raised). Hepatitis can result in fatty liver, but usually fatty liver is associated with fat rich diet, drinking alcohol, diabetes, obesity and dyslipidemias (high cholesterol and triglycerides). The good thing is that it responds to diet control and exercise. Also, yes, inflammatory bowel disease (which also causes lot of gas and stool problems) can also cause fatty liver.
Avatar f tn From the report there is evidence of fatty liver changes in the liver. Also, it shows inflammation of the liver with some fibrosis. This is graded to determine the progression of liver disease. The report indicates an ongoing inflammatory change in the liver. The galls stone is unlikely to have produced these changes in the liver. It could be due to alcohol. And stopping alcohol would be the first step to prevent any further damage to the liver. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have fatty liver. My liver enzymes have been elevated. Since I am 55 and haven't had a colonoscopy yet ( they think that i have a death wish}. Doctor won't treat me if i don't get one. Why would it be necessary for me to have a colonoscopy if i have a fatty liver. Would just diet and excercise fix the problem? Doctor said that fat in the diet is not the problem but carbs is. But the procedures for getting ready for the colonoscopy is carbs.
Avatar n tn Just recently I did an ultrasound and was diagnosed with fatty liver. This past week or two I have been feeling nauseau and have some pain in the lowr right under my rib cage. Avatar m tn that claim to cure fatty liver. Weight management is key to remission of fatty liver even if your liver is able to repair itself some damage [scar tissue] may remain. Be careful with things like Tylenol and Motrinwhile having bouts of NASH, this can impair your liver's ability to cleanse your body of toxins. If you are on statin medications discuss lowering thedose with your doctor to see if the symptoms and problems lessen.
Avatar f tn When I was diagnosed with Hep C, the ultrasound I had showed moderate fatty liver. I am not overweight and did not drink a lot of alcohol before dx, so I assume the fatty liver has been caused by the Hep C. I am now SVR. Does anyone know if the fatty liver will now get better because I no longer have the virus? If not, what can you do to get rid of fatty liver if you're not overweight?
