Common Questions and Answers about Januvia and upper respiratory infections

Avatar n tn Infections usually start out as upper respiratory infections, such as from a cold and then travel down into your lungs (lower respiratory infection). Other times it's from getting the flu and a secondary infection sets in, such as pneumonia or acute bronchitis. Other times you could get acute bronchitis from being exposed to a lot of irritants in the air (such as wood dust, heavy pollution etc).
Avatar m tn Hi, I battle lot's of infections, mainly sinus/upper respiratory, almost monthly, my wbc is not high but always elevated. Was sent to hematology, but clinic only deals with blood cancers, which I do not have. Antibiotics work, Amoxicillin, Bactrim, etc.... but infections always returns. What physician or specialty clinic, deals with chronic infections ? So, I can discuss with my primary doctor for referral, thanks.
Avatar f tn Well, I too get upper respiratory infections alot.I take Z pac each time and sometimes I have to take them right after each other. (waiting 5 days in-between of course) My doc finally prescribed a stronger med. For me I know its due to have asthma~ I know when Im stressed or over loaded it weakens my Immune system and makes me more vulnerable to getting the upper respiratory infection. I still haven't had anyone tell me more than what I have learned from getting it every year.

Avatar n tn My seven-and-a-half year old son has always had a high number of upper respiratory infections since toddler. Asthmatic symptoms include cough and sometimes wheezing when coming down with viral infection, and when exercising in cold weather. Infections resolve on own, but I'm concerned about high susceptibility to viral infection. Since school began in September, he has been ill with URI seven times, as well as with H1N1. Pediatrician did CBC and seems unconcerned, should I be?
Avatar n tn t tell without seeing your dogs but thinks they could have upper respiratory - viral and/or bacterial - infections. Vaccinations do not necessarily mean your dogs or anyone's cats or dogs - will not get distemper or bordatella (kennel cough) but it does mean it is easier to treat and less likely to result in their deaths. This was new to me too. It doesn't mean that you should not continue with vaccinations.
Avatar n tn Many parasitic infestations and worms increase the eosinophil counts in the blood and thus cause an increased risk of upper respiratory infections. Conditions like tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, asbestosis and silicosis along with pulmonary fibrosis should be ruled out. If there is no fever then chances of allergic reaction, acidity and reflux and high eosinophil count are more. Common allergens causing these symptoms are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander.
Avatar f tn I realize how worry you are about your constant upper respiratory infections. Surely there is a need to have a complete evaluation done by a physician and also lab work. It also depend that where you work if you work in a closed place, depending on how your immune system is at the moment you can easily have been re infected with viruses or bacteria that may have caused your upper respiratory infections.

Avatar f tn Called my doctor and she advise me to go to the er. Since I am 32 weeks pregnant they sent me up to labor and delivery. The rn said I had an upper respiratory infection. They had me on IV fluids to dehydrate me and my doctor ordered me a z pack which is a 5 days dose to help fight off the bacteria. I feel a lot better now. I'd go to the er and tell them your symptoms so you can feel better soon. Being sick ***** but being sick while pregnant is even worse. Good luck.
Avatar n tn My cat has had a sinus problem since earlier in the fall -- lots of sneezing, runny nose, etc. I took him to the vet who prescribed antibiotics. They were effective but about two weeks after completing the antibiotics, the sneezing started again. Since then we have gone throught two additional rounds of antibiotics, the latest was horrid pink stuff (Novolexin) that I could barely get down his throat!
Avatar m tn Yes the pharyngitis, low grade fever and sore throat could be referred to as an upper respiratory infection. But nebulization is to relieve bronchospasm, which occurs in the lower respiratory tract. An infection which is upper respiratory could progress to become a lower respiratory infection. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Waited 14 days did another sputum and they told me pseudonomas has colonized but I have 2 new infections STENOTROPHOMONAS MALTOPHILIA and SERRATIA MARCESCENS.... The infectious disease doctor did not want to treat them , in fear of me getting c-diff. Since 9/15 i have been on ceftin, bactrim, doxycycline, amoxycillin augmentin , zosyn, cetamadine, gentamyacin, zithromyacin and cypro. I just seen my pulmanologist due to a cough she gave me ceftin i finished that on 4/18/2016.
Avatar n tn I have pain in the very upper back of my legs and the inside of my legs where the thigh meets the body. It began a few weeks ago. I am 64 and have been a type 2 diabetic for 5 years. I also have been treated for hypertension and high cholesterol levels since the age of 50. I take daily Glucophage 500 x 2, Januvia 100, Actos 30 (newly prescribed), Lisinopril 40, Amlodopine 10 (newly prescribed), and HCTZ 25. What do you think is the cause of my pain? Thanks.
