been on metformin 500 mg 2x a day...over last 2 wks suagrs have been in upper 200...so my Dr. increased my metformin to 850 mg 2x a day... i just took i pill today but my numbers sre still over 200 ..Is there an adjustment of how many days till new mg. starts to work...
My husband was recently diagnosed with type II diabetes. His doctor has prescibed janumet. In reading about the drug I've found info stating that "one should not consume excessive alcohol" and also "one should avoid alcohol". My husband drinks at least one glass of wine/beer a day with more on weekends. I'm confused as to what excesive means or if he is suppose to avoid alcohol totally.
Any information would be appreciated.
i used janumet for my sugar it make me gain weight but it lower my sugar why isnt suppose to make u loose weight
I went on metformin 1g, no change after three months. went up to two grams and was so nauseus for weeks, changed to janumet 1g. My sugars are still up around 15 every day, and my hand still hasnt stopped twitching. I get it all over my body randomly, but always in my hand. It doesn't hurt but is irritating and my hand is sore from overworking.
My dr said this was a diabetes issue but I have never heard of it before among other sufferers, and he just brushes it away when I mention it.
hi i am presently living in the Philippines and i have run out of my janumet 50mg/500mg tablets and they are not available here in Philippines the only diabetic tablets available where i live are Metformin 500 tablets, can i substitute these for the janumet ?
I take my bolld sugars of a morning fasting and they are like 167-191, I take 1000 mg of janumet and 18 units of lantus before bed, of a morning I take 20 Units of lantus, 45 mg actos why am I having problems regulating my blood sugars, I also take 7 units of novalog after every meal??? Do you have any other sugustions??
Thanks for your response. I have type 2. My last HA1c was 8.1 and I am now using Janumet. I do suppose a dietitian is the right way to go. Thanks again.
Plus you could discuss changing meds. BTW There is a combination pill Janumet that c ombines Metformin and Januvia. This may be helpful to you as well.
I thought I had to vomit, but when I intentionally tried to vomit, nothing happened. I have type 2 diabetes and currently take Janumet twice a day. Could this have been low blood sugar, or high blood sugar?
I changed my diet to oatmeal and 5 strawberries for breakfast, salad for lunch, dry bran cereal for snack, Healthy Choice Meal for dinner, and slice of bread n peanut butter for bedtime snack to take with my janumet. Because Janumet makes me feel nausea.
My blood sugars are running 308 this week and last night it drop to 219 and gave me a headache. My doctors can't really do much about my meds because my insurance won't pay for my diabetic meds. I am using sample packages.

i am on 1000 mg of Metformin. I know insulin seems a hard choice but I was on insulin usining a flex pen. I am actually wanting to go back to that. It's really not as bad as it sounds.
My diabetese medicine was changed from Pioglar + Metformin 500 twice a day to Janumet 50+1000 twice a day in around March 2011. I have since lost about 15 KG and it is still going down @ 1 kg per month. I was happy to reach my ideal weight. However, I do not know how to stop further loss. I am Diabetic, so can not discontinue Metformin. Any suggestion ?
overweight and have type 2 diabetes. I take metformin, janumet, caduet and until yesterday diovan. During a stress test yesterday my systolic bp rose to 260 in a very short time (diastolic was elevated but not so greatly). When my BP has been taken several times throughout the year at rest it has been 120/80 (ish). I am not very active but do walk 1-1/2 miles a day at a moderate rate. The cardiologist took me off of diovan and told me to begin 100 mg toprolol (sp?) immediately.
Is there any medcation as mentioned above can cause this as side effect? Any other suggestion? Please reply.
Long story short, I was not tested for type one or two diabetes before I was started on insulin. I went from Janumet 50/500 to adding Lantus 2 weeks later. When I hit 22 units, my fasting number went to 81 from a starting number of 324. My concern is that even with the fasting level in normal range, my two hour BG level still spikes to the high 200's. I have followed the recommended diet and watch my carb count very carefully.
It's unbelievable that I made so many mistakes just writing down my problems, the worst is I forgot I entered this and entered again tonight. I've been having problems for 7 years until diagnosed. I'm not sure how this site works. This cognitive problems is not good. Questions is this a problem of MG, drugs, alzheimer's, a stroke or depression. I haven't called the my nerulogist yet. He said to call if I saw double. Concerning county mental health, why county?
