Janumet half dosage

Common Questions and Answers about Janumet half dosage

janumet

Avatar n tn My husband was recently diagnosed with type II diabetes. His doctor has prescibed janumet. In reading about the drug I've found info stating that "one should not consume excessive alcohol" and also "one should avoid alcohol". My husband drinks at least one glass of wine/beer a day with more on weekends. I'm confused as to what excesive means or if he is suppose to avoid alcohol totally. Any information would be appreciated.

Avatar m tn I went on metformin 1g, no change after three months. went up to two grams and was so nauseus for weeks, changed to janumet 1g. My sugars are still up around 15 every day, and my hand still hasnt stopped twitching. I get it all over my body randomly, but always in my hand. It doesn't hurt but is irritating and my hand is sore from overworking. My dr said this was a diabetes issue but I have never heard of it before among other sufferers, and he just brushes it away when I mention it.

Avatar n tn Thanks for your response. I have type 2. My last HA1c was 8.1 and I am now using Janumet. I do suppose a dietitian is the right way to go. Thanks again.

541196 tn?1293552936 My endocrinolgist ordered a MRI with Contrast on my brain for the possiblity of a prolactin secreeting pituitary tumor or something similar. I am type II diabetic and take Janumet. I think I remember reading in the side effects, warnings and uses pamphlet that there were some tests, proceedures and surgeries which you shouldn't have while on the medication. How long should I be off the medication before and after the MRI? Are there any other things I should consider before the test?
Avatar n tn 5 mg, and cough suppressant dextromethorphan 15 mg, each per 5 mL), then the guideline dose for a 4-year-old is one-quarter teaspoon (the one-half teaspoon dose is for age 6-11 years, while the full teaspoon dose is for ages 12 years and up).
Avatar n tn Plus you could discuss changing meds. BTW There is a combination pill Janumet that c ombines Metformin and Januvia. This may be helpful to you as well.

Avatar m tn I have since found out it is not a good idea to split a Somac tablet. I'm still interested to hear from anyone who has an opinion about whether a 20mg tab twice a day is any better than a 40mg once a day.
Avatar f tn I thought I had to vomit, but when I intentionally tried to vomit, nothing happened. I have type 2 diabetes and currently take Janumet twice a day. Could this have been low blood sugar, or high blood sugar?
Avatar n tn Hi There, I'm a recently turned 40year old male, living in Malaysia. I have a history of neck issues (cervical spondylitis)? Sometime later Sept - Oct 09, stiffness of the neck and head getting heavy had me run to my GP for advise. He checked my blood sugar and it was 22 Mmol. I also have had elevated blood sugar problems when I had a boil somewhere on the body or the neck getting stiff, after a while it went away.
Avatar f tn However, many folks do see a significant benefit from one-half of that dosage. 1/4 mg, twice daily. Klonopin is very potent, and to minimize the risk of untoward effects, the lowest effective dosage should be used. There would be no issue with splitting your 1/2 mg tablet in half, and taking 1/4 mg twice daily. This would be desirable. Do NOT abruptly cut the dose in half.
Avatar f tn Alright this is the low down on half life's on drugs. The half life is the time it take to omit half of the dosage of the drug from your system. The tricky thing is that you don't go through two of them and the drug is gone. It is actually five half lives. This is how it works. You take 10mg. In one half life you have 5 mg left. The next time the period of time passes that is the half life you have 2.5mg left. The next time 1.25 mg. The fourth half life leaves you 0.625mg.

Avatar n tn says metformin at both 500 x 2 and 1000 x 2 are both equally ineffeciant for treating diabetes. She highly recommends Janumet 5/500. Gus added this to his and has seen a decline in sugars. I did as well when I was switched.
Avatar m tn My diabetese medicine was changed from Pioglar + Metformin 500 twice a day to Janumet 50+1000 twice a day in around March 2011. I have since lost about 15 KG and it is still going down @ 1 kg per month. I was happy to reach my ideal weight. However, I do not know how to stop further loss. I am Diabetic, so can not discontinue Metformin. Any suggestion ?
Avatar n tn How long do I need to stay on that dosage before I step down to half of that. I want off completely but am scared. It's only been two days now that I have decreased the dosage. I want to do it safely without letting my family know that I have been taking these pills. I also don't want to have seizures...I need a tapering schedule without letting my doctor know as he might cut me off completely.
Avatar m tn Firstly, I must tell you that taking someone else's meds, even your husband's, even if it's the same thing, is a no-no. And we cannot tell you what to take or not take since we are not doctors. I will tell you that I, personally, have split my meds, and taken half now and half later with no bad effects. But that's just me.
