Avatar f tn I am currently in patient at Methodist - Jefferson Headache Unit for the pain I am having and my body has rejected the DHE! I got violently sick last night . . . . it was horrible. So today my headache is raging :( I cannot take Compozine and other medicines similar since I have been reacting to those as well. Fenergin seems to be tolerable at the moment. . the Lidocaine is on full flow but I am feeling no change since being admitted on Tuesday. PLEASE HELP ME!!
Avatar f tn Anyone tried this therapy? Does it work for you? I told my PA at the PM office yesterday that I was very concerned about my current flare up (Fibro) and our move this week/next weekend. She suggested I go in for this IV and that it could bring me relief for 1-3 weeks. It's expensive, but I NEED to function right now. It's scheduled for tomorrow morning.
Avatar n tn i had a lidocaine shot too for a different procedure and I have been having the same proble as well, over the sumer everyday I would get a palpitating feeling in my chest and wondered if it has something to do with that. I do remember when I had the procedure my heart was racing. If you found anything out please let me know- Thanks!
383138 tn?1314167773 wants to do a lidocaine IV infusion, he says IV infusion of lidocaine is different than the dental injection. My cardiologist says I can't have lidocaine at all, due to my past severe heart reaction to it, but my pain dr. thinks it will be OK and has scheduled me for infusion for pain relief for this Friday. I dont know what to do, so any info on the lidocaine and any contraidictions with heart arrhythmias would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar n tn t have a headache. I understand that there is a test or treatment involving lidocaine dripped directly on the sphenopalatine nerve. How do I get to the right specialist. More importantly, do my symptoms sound like this syndrome. I plan to explore this more with my doctor which is 12 days away.

All of these drugs were iv fusion. Also gave hime 50mg of Seroquel to sleep. *Friday (Day 6) Called neurologist, went in ER was given: Torodol & rofran: Nothing no help.
Avatar f tn Spinal tap last Wednesday and that night, again severe headache, nausea, and vomiting. We were admitted to the hospital and given IV decadron, depakote, compazine, toradol, and Benadryl. She started to feel a little better, but we decided with the neurologist to do a cranial nerve block. After our discharge, we have continued with nausea, vomiting all weekend. We did increase her topamax to 50 mg and this is a side effect of this drug. We are truly at a loss and feel helpless.
Avatar f tn Make them have Zofran AND Phenergan ready IV if you need it. Get OFF narcotics as soon as you can by trying Tylenol and Motrin IV. This worked for me, you will be much more alert and feel better sooner. Also, try the Lidocaine patches on your neck instead of the muscle relaxers. They work great and have no side effects. Lastly, realize that it is normal for your head to feel weird after surgery, you may feel pulsating when you change positions...etc. it's all normal and it does subside.
2112931 tn?1335098402 I, for one, did get the headache. It was the absolute worst pain I've ever felt in my life!!!! That being said, the probability of the headache is very small, I think I was told by my neuro <5%. The procedure itself is nothing at all! The worst part was the lidocaine injection and that just felt like a little bee sting. It is totally worth getting the LP, as that may be the nail that you need to drill your dx.
Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar n tn This is a question for your doctor or a pharmacist.
Avatar f tn Dr. Brown, They have already tried steroid/lidocaine injections a total of 5 times. They say the floaters that I am experiencing are not normal or typical floaters. I had already been seeing the Ryan Headache Center for migraines and the pain I'm experiencing with my eye is nothing even close to a migraine. We have tried various pain meds and meds for migraine relief, non of which have worked.
Avatar m tn Riding and bounceing in a car have made my neck pain and headache worse for several years and even nausea associated with this. Now walking seems to trigger the same increase in neck pain, headache and nausea.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your quick response! And thank you for your further investigation. To answer your question, this was her first filling with lidocaine. She had another cavity filled 4 days later that wasn't deep and it was drilled and filled without anesthetic.
Avatar f tn I have had a constant headache for three years now. I've had a C6-7 discectomy with fusion in October 2008. I had a C4-C6 discectomy with cages and fusion with the hardware removed from C6-C7. I've been to headache clinics in Chicago, sports medecine and rehab doctors, physical therapy, acupuncture, neurologists, rheumatologists, 2 spine centers, pain management, and biofeedback.
Avatar m tn My hand was very swollen even the fingers and very painful. I was admitted to the hospital and had surgery and IV antibiotics for a week! Now I say I am allergic to celebrex and don't suggest cortisone shots. Jus hearing or saying it makes me cringe! This was over 5 years ago! Good Luck!
Avatar n tn cfm It’s also important to visit your doctor if this seizure occurs again or if your headache doesn’t respond to medications or if it’s getting worse for proper evaluation and management. I hope this helps. Take care and please do update us.
Avatar f tn m currently on fantanyl, and have tried avinza, oxycontin, hydrocodone, percocet, opana, and a few others, but no riproaring success. I tried lidocaine, and did have some nerves frozen, but nothing has helped for this tightness (but I got some help regarding burning pain across my face from the craniotomy). I used to also have migraines, primarily the first 6-7 months after surgery, but this terrible pressure/squeezing has never resided.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know the success rate for a lidocaine injection in the ear to treat tinnitus. Are the effects short or long term. Are there side effects. Can this damage the eardrum or hearing?
Avatar f tn Can aspercreme with lidocaine be used on a burn caused by a flame if its not blistered
Avatar f tn I always have to be premedicated with steroids IV and IV Benadryl before receiving most IV meds. My nursing background has sure come in handy; however never wanted to have to use it on myself.
Avatar m tn I am terrified of needles too and I FELT NOTHING.. They used Buffered Lidocaine injection which I did not feel any of.. I must admit, I did put over the counter Lidocaine cream all over my breast about an hour before the procedure. I used this Lidocaine cream on my arm before a tetanus shot that I had to get and was so afraid of and I was screaming for the nurse to WAIT but.. IT WAS ALREADY DONE! Helps a lot so you don't feel pain. Nurse also gave me tips for next time I get an injection.
Avatar m tn Hi All. I am scheduled for a biopsy and learned that they offer an option not to use IV sedation. I have done many biopsies before, but they routinely use IV anesthetic. I wonder if anybody has experience of a biopsy where they use only local anesthesia around the area of needle stick. Was it too much discomfort? The advantage for me is to be able to drive home by myself and perhaps saving some $$.
Avatar m tn You need a lidocaine test wherein your nose and septum are treated with anesthesia- if your headaches resolve, you may be having contact headaches.
