5675963 tn?1372171187 I think you should get a second opinion from a new doctor. Bleeding for 7 months is unusual. Menorrhagia is the term used to describe menstrual bleeding characterized by heavy flow and/or prolonged duration. Heavy flow lasting more than seven days but occurring with regular monthly periods may be normal for some women. However, menorrhagia is a symptom, which is usually the result of an underlying condition.
Avatar f tn I also bleed when I have sex (these have been problems for over a year when they weren’t problems before) and I have been to an obgyn multiple times and no std’s, or pregnancy. Also I am only 20.
Avatar f tn There are a number of different conditions that might cause a woman to experience menorrhagia. For example, prolonged and heavy bleeding may be a symptom of abnormal blood clotting. It might also signify fibroids or cancer of the uterine lining. In some cases, menorrhagia may be caused by certain birth control methods, such as intrauterine devices (IUD). Untreated, menorrhagia may lead to a number of other health problems.
Avatar f tn I had a non stop period for a month. I went to my gynecologist who prescribed progesterone 5mg orally. I took it on the 12th day of my cycle and the bleeding stopped. Then I stopped taking it on the 25th day of my cycle and my period came. Then it wouldn't stop again. I started again to take the progesterone on the 12th day but this time I am still getting spotting and now I'm on the 18th day of my cycle. Can you help?
Avatar f tn I have been infected with the HPV virus for 5 years now, i have never noticed any symptoms ever except for my boyfriend, who recently got diagnosed with warts. I went to get answers, and they said i have warts too. Genital warts. Yet, to find out a week later after the lab results came back i was found positive for Genital Herpes!! I have suffered awful outbreaks constantly for almost 7 months straight. I now have cloudy deadly odors coming from my anus, my vagina, and my body.

Avatar f tn Hello, This condition is called menorrhagia. Normally the period stays for 3-7 days and comes in 21 to 35 days. However sometimes normal periods can be irregular. The causes of menorrhagia could be due to bleeding disorders, vitamin K deficiency, excess usage of aspirin, hormonal imbalance, stress, fibroids, recent intra uterine devices (like copper-T)etc. So I will like to advise for internal examination from a gynecologist and take opinion. I hope it helps.

Causes of menorrhagia are Hypothyroidism, Endometrial proliferation or hyperplasia like ovarian tumor and polycystic ovarian disease, endometrial polyps and neoplasia, endometriosis, fibroids and uterine sarcomas. Avatar m tn Hello, This can be due to metromenorrhagia or dysfunction uterine bleeding and hormonal imbalance can be one of the causes of menorrhagia. Sometimes it is associated with polymenorrhea(Frequent flow, cycles of ≤21 days)Causes of menorrhagia are Hypothyroidism, Endometrial proliferation or hyperplasia like ovarian tumor and polycystic ovarian disease, endometrial polyps and neoplasia, endometriosis, fibroids and uterine sarcomas.
Avatar n tn Yes, there are both oral and IV chemotherapies but the recommendation is not based on how a drug is delivered (by mouth or IV) but, rather, based upon the efficacy for the disease. Because a drug is oral does not mean it is less strong or easier to take. In contrast, you may be recommended to have endocrine therapy (hormone therapy). Most of these drugs are oral and would be given after chemotherapy (if chemotherapy is recommended) for a period of about 5 years.
Avatar m tn Hello, What you are having is menorrhagia. Causes of menorrhagia are hormonal imbalance, fibroids(benign (non-cancerous) tumors that often occur in the uterus of women during their thirties or forties), uterine cysts(ovarian cysts) and polyps(cervical or endometrial. They are small, fragile, non cancerous growths in the cervix or uterus), some forms of cancer and certain medications. Intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUD’s) and pelvic inflammatory disease may also lead to excessive bleeding.
Avatar n tn I have been on my period for 11 days now. I took Medroxyp Ac 10mg. I was prescribed 5 pills to take 5 days in a row. I took 2 of them 2 days in a row skipped a day and took 2 of them 2 days in a row and didn't take the 5th pill. Would this have something to do with why I am going on 12 days tomorrow being on my period?! I took the pills the prior months correctly like directed and my periods were normal (5-7days).

Avatar f tn So I have had a super heavy period for 2 months straight and it is still going! I started having my periods last year in September. I am not having any cramps whatsoever. I feel fine, but it is really troubling me. Last year I was in a ton of sports and I had my period in December and it didn't return until June/July this year. It has always lasted long but not this long. My periods are so heavy I have to change my super tampon every hour if not sooner.

Avatar f tn Hello and thank you for reaching out to us. We're very sorry to hear about your sister. Can you update us on what has happened since you posted this as I assume she has now met with her oncologist? Oral chemo medications are widely given these days. Oral chemo meds are very effective and have convenience of given at home when compared to IV chemo. They do also have side effects though but that will vary on which option she is placed on.
