Avatar f tn One of the nurses at my allergist and a few friends have experienced the same thing. Their thoughts are that is it a pollen allergy. My symptoms were when pollen counts were soaring in the high catgory, especially oak pollen where I live. Also, I would be fine if I stayed indoors for the whole day, but if I went outside for anything even for just a few seconds... Feel better.
Avatar m tn For the past few years I have noticed res spots on my back that over time grow together and now cover a majority of my back and just recently I have been getting similar red spots in my inner arm between my forearm and bicep also on my neck and chest. Sometimes they can become itchy usally when it's warm or hot.
7639611 tn?1392877261 ve been experiencing itchy red patches of skin that look like a rash on my arms, hands, and legs. The skin on my forehead is red, irritated, dry and flaky, though not quite as itchy. The skin all around my eyes is also red, irritated, dry and flaky. Oh, and my nipples are cracking. I use a humidifier, and I've tried applying Allegra cream, Vaseline, and Neosporin. I've also been taking Allegra orally. I wash my sheets, vacuum, and keep my living environment clean.
747266 tn?1401745317 I am suffering from burning, itchy and inflammed skin. It usually starts in my legs ( either my ankles, feet, mostly behind my thighs) and the burning/itchy sensation travels and intensifies towards my rear end. At this point, I am in near tears, and can barely breath and tempted to scratch. I have not let it get any worse. I spoke to my doctor about it and he told me to let it get to the boiling point and admit myself into the hospital for tests.
Avatar f tn I had open heart surgery for aortic valve replacement 7 months ago. I have been itchy since that time. It comes mostly in the evening, when I am tired and usually about 3 to 4 times per week. I am taking Atarax for it. What type of doctor should I contact for this condition. I have read that it could be caused by thyroid, is this true?
Avatar f tn I finished all the steroids with her, even though they made her miserable, and now the itching seems worse. She is so touchy that her skin spasms when I go to touch it and then she starts scratching. She is constantly biting at her front paws or rolling on the carpet when she isn't sleeping. I feed her Birkdale PetMix (holistic) which is mixed with ground turkey and she receives a joint supplement and 2 tsp of coconut oil per day.
Avatar n tn I recommend starting by taking your dog to your veterinarian for assessment of the itch and medication recommendations. The most common reasons for itchy skin in dogs include skin infections, microscopic skin parasites such as scabies mites, food allergy, or pollen/dust allergies. Since scabies mites are difficult to find, I trial treat dogs for scabies with Revolution every 2 weeks for 3 treatments.
Avatar f tn I have had seasonal allergies along with dust, cat and dog allergies too since 30 years ago. I finally had 5 years of allegy shot ending aroung 2005, This year has been so bad with all the pollen I feel like I'm right back to day one. My eyes are itchy, my nose runs and my palate is so itchy. I take Atrovent for post nasal drip, aerius for the allergies and I'm also on Advair 250 discuss. Why is this happening after all these years? Will it go away or am I supposed to get shots again.

975357 tn?1252704723 Problem is, I went to an allergist, and he tried to do the skin scratch test and stopped and told me my skin was dermatographic and that the test would generate false positives on everything. He did a east panel, but it was for mostly food allergies not pollen and outdoor allergens. So how do I go about finding out what I am allergic to in order to be able to get immunotherapy. Apparently, about 4% of people have this..
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, we have two dachshunds (Uncle and Nephew) who both suffer from contact grass allergies that results in itching irritated skin. The older dog is especially susceptible to skin infections. I'm hoping somebody may be able to recommend one of the veterinary diets which supports the skin. Has anybody found one better than another? Any other suggestions welcome. We don't have a lawn at home and walk them on the beach.
Avatar n tn its gotten alot worse over the last three..have been tested i am severely allergic to all tree pollens grass and ragweed pollen mold and dogs..i have tried everything ( including the drops under your tongue) nothing reaaly helps i am tired of feeling like this all time..
683609 tn?1226764977 I recommend starting by taking your dog to your veterinarian for assessment of the itch and medication recommendations. The most common reasons for itchy skin in dogs include skin infections, microscopic skin parasites such as scabies or demodex mites, food allergy, or pollen/dust allergies. The red spots and hairloss/swelling of the foot the you describe are suspicous for a bacterial skin infection.
Avatar f tn I have not taken any new medication, no new lotions, not been in contact with poison ivy. The only allergy I have is pollen and I have been outside a lot already this year, and sneezing/coughing a lot lately. I read online that these can happen when you are having an allergic reaction, but haven't seen anything about an allergic reaction to POLLEN. Today it started spreading down to my wrist (as seen in the picture) Anyone out there know what this could be?
603223 tn?1220007818 In this a small amount of allergen is introduced in the skin of the forearm and the response of the skin is observed. If there is any redness, then that person is allergic to that allergen. Treatment involves avoidance of the allergen.I am forwarding you a link which you will find useful: http://www.hk-doctor.com/health_article/html/Allergic%20Rhinitis_E.htm There is nothing mentioned about the ways of avoidance of pollens in this link.So I am describing them to you.
Avatar f tn Hi there, It is difficult to confirm the exact cause without a complete clinical examination. Red blotches on the skin may be caused by an allergic reaction to pollen, detergents, foods and medication. Another possibility is Erythema multiforme .In this condition there are patches of red skin that may be raised or itchy. It may be seen after viral infections; use of medications etc.Autoimmune disorders like lupus can also cause red blotches.
Avatar f tn I've used the same type of make-up and face-wash for three years. I went on a vacation to south america, and while i was there, I got sick. I continued wearing make-up and face-wash while I was sick, and ever since, my eyelids get swollen a lot. They swell whenever I use face-wash, make-up, shampoo, conditioners, or any lotions, even if not on the affected area! Even the "for sensitive skin" and hypoallergic products make my face swell.
679466 tn?1247006054 Dogs not only inhale these allergens, but they absorb them through the skin, and so the thinly haired skin of the groin and armpits is often where symptoms occur first (the thinner hair and the increased contact with the ground increase exposure to environmental allergens). Food allergy can also cause itchy skin, but symptoms are constant and usually don't improve with cortisone.
Avatar f tn t develop quite the rash that has been talked about here, but I do experience skin irritations from pine sap, which is also quite difficult to get off the skin, too. I no longer have to be in constant contact with wood meant for burning in a fireplace. I have had some good success with treating these more minor irritations by taking oral Benadryl and using Benadryl cream on the irritations and rashes themselves.
Avatar f tn For the past month or so, I have been getting random itchy patches on my legs and feet. They come very suddenly, usually at night, and last for about 10-30 minutes, and there is occasionally redness or small raised bumps but sometimes, other than the itching, nothing seems to be wrong. At first I thought that it might be some sort of bug bite, but it is so inconsistent that I don't think that is the case. Some days it doesn't happen at all, and some days my entire leg feels itchy.
Avatar m tn Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications. Take some antihistaminic like Benadryl or Claritin and apply some calamine lotion on the rash.
Avatar n tn I have been dealing with the itchy arms for the past 4 years. It starts in August and lasts a few months. Last night was by far the worst it has ever been! I live in the Cincinnati area. The itching is a deep prickly feeling with no visible signs on the skin. The more you scratch the worse it gets. It is so frustrating and No doctor seems to have a clue what it is!!! It is on my arms, from the wrist to my shoulders. but now it has been on my neck as well.
Avatar n tn Hi smiles, This sounds like it could be eczema or dermatitis.... this will show up as itchy red patches on the skin, and can look like ring worm sometimes. It is usually treated with a topical steroid cream. However, I am not able to tell you which strength you will need. Eczema is an immune response much like the response of the immune system in food allergies, or in hayfever to pollen.
Avatar n tn Hi, These itchy bumps that appear when you scratch your arms could be hives. Hives are raised, often itchy, red welts on the surface of the skin. They are usually an allergic reaction to food or medicine. When you have an allergic reaction to a substance, histamine and other chemicals are released into your bloodstream, causing itching, swelling, and other symptoms.
