Common Questions and Answers about Itchy skin but no rash

Avatar_f_tn I am a guy, I just started having strong itch during night. I have tried 2-3 different kind of medicine from my doctor nothing works. I am going to use Soap loofah and try gluten free diet like other have mentioned in the forum. I had it last year and when I tried antihistamine it worked. this is it not working as the weather changed. I will share what I find.
Avatar_n_tn My skin all over my body has been very itchy, but there is no red or no hives on my skin. I have , in the past, had cold urticaria (sorry about the spelling)...which is when you get hives when the skin has been exposed to cold. I haven't had that in a year so I think it has gone away. I have tried to take reactine (to stop a physical allergy), but that did nothing. I don't think it's exema because both my kids have that and I know what it looks like. My skin doesn't feel dry.
Avatar_m_tn hello i got skin problem for over 10 years now when finish shower or bathing my skin itching but no long ego i find a solution or that i use no parfume shower cream simple is better now .
960440_tn?1246970466 Pityriasis rosea is a common human skin disease which presents as numerous patches of pink or red oval rash. The rash may be accompanied by low-grade headache, fever, nausea and fatigue and sometimes by itching. no treatment is usually required. In most patients, the condition lasts only a matter of weeks or months(upto six months) If the rash persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.Other possibilities have to be ruled out then. Hope it helps.
Avatar_n_tn Also about the same time i got this, there is another non itchy rash on my thigh. This rash aren't like little bumps but more like random shaped dry areas of skin. Each little area is about the size of a "pinky" nail and are kind of clustered into an area about the size of my fist. I was just hoping for some feedback. I'm waiting to verify my insurance an I am a little scared about the rash. My girlfriend said the one on my chest is spreading but I don't see it.
Avatar_m_tn Also I experienced what seemed lilke really dry skin in the buttocks and inner thigh area. I have also been itchy all over, my eyes, arms, but no visible sign of anything. I went to see a dermatologist who said it could be just irritation, and not to worry but he did say the hair folicules were little raised in the area. I have been feeling really fatigued lately and dizzy. what could this rash be?
Avatar_f_tn E as he was covered top to toe in itchy rash but at hospital with antihistamin it disappeared over a day and hasn't come back. We first thought he had an allergic reaction to some insect bites (mosquito or spider) he got when we were camping in Namibia. i had the same bites. neither of us had many. The specialist thought it was an allergic reaction to a cutaneous larva migrans infection that he had got from the damp sand where we were camping in Namibia.
Avatar_m_tn I also have very bad itching around my arm pits, neck, legs, feet, and arms. There is no rash, but I have noticed small skin colored bumps on my fingers and toes occasionally (I have seen about 5 bumps total). I have had my liver tested, but it is healthy. I have used various anti-itch creams including hydrocortisone based products and benadryl, but they have no effect.
Avatar_n_tn If that does not help too, consider stopping the medications you are now on and see if the rash and itching subsides. Doxycycline itself is known to cause unexplained skin rash and phsotosensitivity. So you should stop taking that. Do keep us posted about your progress. Hope this helps. Good luck.

1742167_tn?1436475320 (My stomach has been a little itchy from time to time for weeks - no change up or down on that due to the rash). The only thing I can find on-line is a PUPPS rash, but it's definitely not that, it isn't raised. It's more like my skin is just specled red - weird! I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, so I'll bring it up then, but I wasn't sure if any of you ladies have had this yourselves and what it was. Thanks in advance for your advise!
Avatar_m_tn Hello, itchy skin without any rash can be due to dry skin, contact dermatitis, dermatitis, scabies and hives, internal diseases like liver and kidney disorders, diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, irritation and allergic reactions to chemicals, wool, soaps, cosmetics etc. You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. You should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing.

Avatar_f_tn The spots become itchy at first with no rash but when I scratch the areas swell and become red. but this only happens at night after a shower. Don't know what it could be don't kow if it could be hives, scabies, or dermographism.
