For the past 5 years i have had this problem (ish). Whenever my body is wet; after a shower or being in the sea or sweating, i get raised red spots on my back and chest. The are itchy but then disappear after an hour. But it's consistent. Does anyone know what this is. It doesn't annoy me and i'm used to it now but was just curious to see what it is.
I've noticed that every time I get out of the shower I have lots of red spots on my upper left arm. It's usually after a warm shower and it goes away around 15 minutes after I get out of the shower. It's not particularly dry or itchy. I haven't noticed these spots anywhere else. I don't know if it is actually something to do with my skin or underlying structures such as the capillaries or something. I have suffered with eczema for the past 20 years and I'm pretty certain it's not that.
Try using a non scented lotion after everytime you shower or swim. Your skin dries out when wet and becomes itchy. Lotion should help.
if your lips are dry and chapped try applying a little vasline or medicated cream on them after a shower and after a meal. If you do it after a shower it locks that moisture in.
My 4 year old has a serious itchy skin. She feels very itchy anytime immediately after shower and whenever she wears socks, tights or any fabric with lycra. We've tried different types of soaps and body lotions which rather makes it works. Is there any medication, lotion or soaps or a kind of food that can stop this itch. Please advise. Thanks.
Symptoms can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
For awhile now I've been having itchy skin, there is no redness, no hives or anything like that, but it is itchy all over, and kinda feels as if something is crawling on me. I shower on a daily basis so I know I'm not dirty or anything like that. I also moisturize my skin often so I don't think it's because my skin is overly dry. But it seems to be triggered when the weather is cool or cold.
Kitty - right on, dont bathe as often, apply baby oil ASAP after getting out of the shower (its cheap and it helps seal in any moisture your skin absorbed during the shower), take some kind of anti-itch pill you can get from your doc or over the counter (OTC) benadryl (diphenelhydramine) generic is cheaper, and if the generic hydrocortisone cream doesnt help ask your doc for some better cream...like kenalog (triamcinolone) or Diprolene? Benadryl Gel helped me sometimes.
I was told that one tree oil was god for itchy skin and I used it in my bath, twice. after the firdt one nothing happened, but when i took the second one that when my skin started to get worst. could this be the problem?????????
At first i thought that it was dry skin but i have been lotioning after every shower and if i dont i itch more. I havent changed any thing like detergent, soap, or lotion. Nothing like this has ever happened before. Please i just want the itching to stop!
i have been suffering from itchy skin after i shower for years and just read an interesting article tonight about the fact that sodium lauryl sulfate causes itching in most people (41%). i just went into my bathroom and checked my aveeno soap which i thought was mild and saw that ingredient. i have a feeling this could be causing all my torment with itching immediately after showering. here's the link i just read: http://www.associatedcontent.
It costs more than other lotions, but again--- it used to be prescription only and is something derms recommend to 'treat' dry skin. Put it on right after you get out of the shower. It does work really well. My oldest son is a swimmer and practices 5 times a week. he has meets that are 4 hours long. His poor skin sure takes a beating. It gets very dry and chaffed. I use the amlactin for him as well as this thick cream that comes in a tub called Eucerin.
Hello, If the itch on the body is associated with red rashes, then it can be due to fungal infections but if there is no visible rash then it can be due to dry skin or xerosis. Other conditions cause itchy skin as well. Skin conditions like psoriasis or dermatitis , internal diseases like liver and kidney disorders, diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, irritation and allergic reactions to chemicals, wool, soaps, cosmetics and certain foods can cause itchy skin.
I was really itchy with both of my pregnancies. Increase your water intake and try baby oil after your shower. I also could not use cocoa butter.
What I started doing was taking lukewarm showers instead of hot, using Eucerin calming shower oil and then immediately after the shower lathering on tons and tons of Eucerin calming cream and letting it soak in for 5 minutes before rubbing it in. If you can, wait to put on clothes for a half hour or so until all the cream soaks in (I found that the cream acts as a barrier to the clothes, otherwise as my pants touch my legs the itching starts all over).
all my body feels so itchy... Took a shower and I still feel the itch everywhere... WTH is this?? Im 22 weeks by the way..
My whole body gets itchy right after showering!

I'm told itchy skin is part of the third trimester, but its been pretty intense. Any one else have it bad (to the point of getting bumps/rashes) and what do you use to help?
