1392168 tn?1280074408 I remember when I was little I had a cream for some scabs on my scalp for a while. I think it was incase it was ezcema. My mum has psoriasis and she thought it might be that. It never bothered me until a few years ago, when scabs came back. They are mostly light, and flakey, so flakes come off like dandruff. Even if I spend months not itching them, there are still some there. Sometimes, it's better than others and clears up.
Avatar m tn Very sorry about the re-post here, I just read about the Expert forum. Here is the post I made to the general forum: I have had an itchy scalp with "dandruff" flakes for the last several months and it has been progressively getting worse. (With dry winter conditions?) On my doctor's advise, I have tried many different shampoos for this--fist Head and Shoulders, then a corticosteroid shampoo ("Capex"? expensive, hard to use, didn't lather), then Nizerol (sp?
Avatar n tn My scalp will be red with blood, but it is a clear liquid that makes my hair stick together at night. It started about 3 years ago and then went away and came back last year and never cleared up. When I do itch my head, I have these big clumps of scabs that come off with it. I have tried T-gel shampoo and nothing is helping. Can you suggest anything? I have also put neosporin on them.
Avatar f tn One more thing on the yellow scabs on scalp. I didn't notice any sort of blisters prior to yesterday. The only thing I discovered was the scab yesterday. Now of course I feel like my whole top of my head is itching. Anxiety continues.
Avatar n tn problem after he has any illness ( flu, fever etc) his scalp breaks out with very itchy bumps under the skin which he then scratches and they become horrible scabs. They are small but annoying. I took him to doctor thinking headlice or something but doc said no, these are caused by fatigue and prescribed nizoral shampoo. Has anyone ever heard of this or have any suggestions. He has no allergies that we are aware of.
Avatar n tn When the scab comes off (usually with my help), a hole remains. They are in my hair from forehead hair line back. Scalp feels spongy. Two or three scabs were yellowish green. A couple of months ago I had a few just like that on my arm.
Avatar f tn ve been wanting to burn them to save me the humiliation of someone discovering them after I die. I have created 2 scabs on my scalp and have 2 separate collection of scabs. I cannot mix both. when i remove a scab, esp a large one, even if i am far away on vacation, i save the scab, wrapped in a tiny piece of paper in my wallet and "file" it away when i get home. talk about ocd!
Avatar f tn It is characterised by small, very itchy pustules within the scalp, often most troublesome on the frontal hairline. The other possibility is of pityrossporum folliculitis which is caused by a fungal infection. The scalp should be washed with a mild normal shampoo as often as desired. Antidandruff shampoos containing antifungal agents such as ketoconazole or ciclopirox are sometimes helpful.
Avatar f tn m 15 years old, and I have been picking at my scalp for about 3-4 years now. I have picked at my skin till it bled, I have scabs on my scalp that I pick at so they never heal properly. I started picking at my scalp when I first saw that I had lice (I had lice quite a bit when I was younger) , so I would run my fingers through my hair over and over, but now, I don't have lice anymore but I still pick at my scalp thinking that there's something there.
Avatar f tn ( and showering/washing my hair everyday also irritates my scalp :/

Avatar n tn so for a month now, I have had two scabs on my scalp in front area of the hair near forehead,I am girl. One went away and then the skin was pink but came back it like dark brown colored and they bleed.I put witch hazel on them. I use a sulfate free shampoo and sometimes a tea tree oil shampoo. I have pictures but not sure where to upload them. Is it something,I should be worried about or would they take longer than month to go away.
Avatar f tn t have the problem of picking but i did have problems with scabs on my scalp and around my ears nothing helped but one day while taking a shower i started putting ( spell check didn't help me here) neosporen on my scalp, rubbed it in, let it sit for a few minutes then washed it out with shampoo. In 3 days my scalp was clear. no itching, no scabs. It was unbelievable how well it worked. I hope if you try it helps you too.
Avatar f tn These are related to having Pruritis in people with hepatitis C. Usually we have an underlying skin itch, not exactly pinpointed, and we scratch, sometimes from this scratching or rubbing we create a 'chronic' itch, then we end up with the scabs and scars etc. Same thing happening to me, I went to a dermatologist and was prescribed 'diprisone' (i think thats how you spell it) cream and elecon lotion for my head/scalp.
1498292 tn?1289162172 for about 2 years now i have been getting these random scabs on my head. i'll feel through my hair and feel these bumpy scabs. i've found them all over, like in different places on my head. their usually on the lower back part of my head, but just today i found one on top of my head ( this one is really sore!!) i can't stand them so i pick them off. they hurt when i pick at them and they sometimes bleed. they vary in size, some are small while others i've found are huge.
905256 tn?1245172921 Hello, These dry scabs could have been due to lice or dandruff.Check whether your son’s scalp is infested with liceor dandruff. You may be able to see the lice or nits by parting your child's hair into small sections and checking for lice and nits on the scalp. If there is lice infestation, then pls shampoo the hair with anti lice shampoos which are available over the counter. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how your son is doing or if you have any additional doubts.
Avatar n tn Itchy scalp my point to more of an allergy, fungal infection, or skin issue than anything else. I get horrific scabs and itchiness on my scalp from perfume in the shampoo (I've been allergic to perfume since I was 2 weeks old). Try a natural shampoo and see if that helps. So definitely talk to your dr about a dermatologist. Here is a site for a cheap home made shampoo that works amazing: http://www.instructables.
Avatar f tn I also have itchy scalp, but no dandruff. recently while scratching my head i noticed little scabs on my scalp from scratching. A freind told me recently that he thought it may be a nerve rash. can anyone help me?
Avatar n tn I have been picking scabs on my head for nearly 30 years and I just can't stop. I have tried different shampoos, lotions, drops you name it and they still come back. I have also tried the fake nails and yes that did stop me from picking my head but eventually when I stopped getting my nails done and they came back. I find that my scalp is so dry and itching I scratch, find a scab, pick it and then it bleeds and that's the beginning of the cycle.
Avatar n tn s wrong with me or how bad things will get. Right now, I just have really bad dandruff and an itchy scalp (which may have been less itchy before I started washing my hair every day) How bad will this condition get? Will I lose my hair? Will I wind up with a head full of scabs? Will I wind up like these poor unfortunate souls : http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=scalp+psoriasis&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2 Should I take the medicines that have been prescribed to me?
Avatar m tn I am currently on day 4 of the treatment, and this morning when I woke up I noticed small pimples on my scalp where I have been applying the treatment, and very slightly itchy. I am worried that this may be the onset of the same problem that I experienced in 2006. Reading the leaflet, I understand these are common side effects, but even still I am concerned. I hate losing my hair and always found this distressing and I am desparate for this to work this time.
Avatar n tn with regards to your scalp and the itchy/flakiness do try using betnovate scalp solution it can be prescribed by your doctor but it works absolute wonders it stops the itching almost straight away and then continued useage clears the scabs etc when first applied it does burn and tingle but this is normal do enquire as it could really help!!!
Avatar f tn ve recently (in the last year) become obsessed with picking at scabs on my scalp. I can easily spend hours in front of a mirror looking for little scabs to pick off or even small bits of dandruff to pick at. It has gotten to the point where my scalp burns when I wash my hair because there are usually numerous open wounds. I don't really find stress relief from doing this, it's more of a habit. At work, I find myself with a hand in my hair, searching for scabs to pick at.
