itchy scalp in pregnancy

15 weeks and 5 days and my scalp has been super itchy here lately as well as parts of my face and my forehead. Sometimes others parts of my body will itch but not all the time. What could be going on? I don't see the doctor again until Tuesday of next week.

I have never had a problem until I got pregnant, 28 weeks now and for the last few months in the exact same area my scalp has been itching so bad that I feel like my skin is raw there. Anyone else experiencing this and know how to deal?

m 29 weeks and FTM the most annoying symptom to me right now is my itchy scalp I try not to scratch or pat but it only seems to make my scalp more itchy an hard to go asleep .

The itchy scalp is from the change in hormones and also can be linked to lack of iron. The only help is to start taking extra iron and using a Eucalyptus/Lavender and Tea Tree Antiseptic spray. It may sting a bit but it will settle and it works. Changing shampoos etc does not work as it is not a result of a scalp issue as such, it is directly linked to the pregnancy or after pregnancy and hormones.

I would say probably is the pregnancy because our skin gets more sensitive even tho you never changed shampoo maybe you should try one a little lighter and sensitive. But I can't say for sure I've never heard of an itchy scalp like you've described but that would be my best guess.

Def not a problem ive had in the past i blame it on the pregnancy! Itchy itchy espically at night, as i layed down for bed a bit ago i caught the itch coming and had to post. Anyone else had this symptom?

So on occasion I get a dry itchy scalp. Last time I went and got my hair cut she told me to use tea tree oil instead of head and shoulders because apparently you can actually perm your hair with it. My hair is so damaged so I've quit using it.

my scalp is very scaly and itchy, and Nizarol shampoo only relieves it for one day. The scales drop onto my face giving me a rash..any advice please. My hair falls out pretty badly when I comb it.

Your doctor can also prescribe a topical steroid for this. These meds are available in a solution that is non-greasy for use on the scalp. The one I've used (and found very helpful) is fluocinonide solution. I also didn't do well with strong menthol shampoos or conditioners - they really irritated my skin even more.

im 19 years old i got this red spot in my head scalp looks more like a pimple but it's been there for couple of months, it doesn't hurt it;s not itchy . but im losing hair there and the hair that its growing its white what do i do?

My first boy I had no problems, this one OH MY GOSH!! I use dandruff shampoo and conditioner and have eased off to washing my hair as little as possible, once or twice a week. Also I lay in a bath with some olive oil in it, I soak my hair and scalp in the water. It's great for the dry scalp and for your skin too. I've noticed that I don't have as many stretch marks this time around either... And I'm 36 weeks, so the laying in the bath is getting a little more uncomfortable.

I switched to a sulfate free shampoo Creme of Nature w/ Argan Oil from Morocco and the dry itchy scalp was gone in a few days. You can find it at Walmart or Sally's if you want to give it a try.

They do add eucalyptus as well in the itchy scalp version, which seems to relieve scalp issues more when added to that Zinc stuff. One other option is Selsun Blue's "itchy dry scalp" formula which besides being a Extra hydrating formula, contains 3 percent salicylic acid, which normally is added to face washes because it works great keeping zits at bay. Hi, I am visiting my sister. She has just finished her 3rd chemo (taxol/carbo-IV) She is having a time with nausea and it is day 9. she cannot take compazine. she uses zofran but I was told that is not really effective for delayed nausea. The first time she got it was a few months ago, it started off with a severe itchy scalp and red itchy spots on her neck/back, then she woke up with a shock, her scalp was covered in yellow crust, it was awful she was so distressed, i had to get it out with a nit comb. I have been diagnosed with rosacea and was wondering if there is such a thing as rosacea of the scalp. I have little pimples here and there on the scalp and extreme itching. s rosemary mint and it totally changed my hair and scalp. No more flakes or itchy scalp for this lady (; the scalp benefits has even helped people with psoriasis. I went and bought the big bottles with the pumps but if you're unsure you can try a smaller bottle for a lesser price. I have had very dry itchy scalp my whole life. It never really seemed to bother me- when I got pregnant the dryness and itchyness seemed to be dormant. However after I gave birth the dryness came back in full force. It is on the back of my scalp on the left side near my hairline - starting from the bottoms of my hair line to above my ear- all in my scalp. I tried to look at the area if dryness and it's red with a white crust. Very itchy and burns at times.
