The itchy scalp is from the change in hormones and also can be linked to lack of iron. The only help is to start taking extra iron and using a Eucalyptus/Lavender and Tea Tree Antiseptic spray. It may sting a bit but it will settle and it works. Changing shampoos etc does not work as it is not a result of a scalp issue as such, it is directly linked to the pregnancy or after pregnancy and hormones.

m 29 weeks and FTM the most annoying symptom to me right now is my itchy scalp I try not to scratch or pat but it only seems to make my scalp more itchy an hard to go asleep .

I am 31 weeks pregnant and have had a super itchy scalp for the past few weeks. I used a different conditioner then it started itching. Itchy head, in the hair, around the ears only. I have no visible irritation on my scalp. The itching feels more like an occasional crawling than an itching on the skin's surface. This itch is not constant, but occurs consistantly throughout the day. I use hair color. I have no health problems aside from 2-3 migraines monthly and mild anemia. She has just finished her 3rd chemo (taxol/carbo-IV) She is having a time with nausea and it is day 9. she cannot take compazine. she uses zofran but I was told that is not really effective for delayed nausea. I put my hair half up half down (mine is long) so I get it on my lower scalp (above my neck, on scalp behind my ears etc) and crown/top of my head. You really dont need it on your hair, just scalp so splitting my hair works best. Only wash it every two days. Dr can prescribe clobetasol for itchy spots if it gets worse. Water, sunshine and keeping stress low also helps a lot:) I hardly have issues anymore.

Hi- I have had the same feeling for the past three weeks. Especially my face and scalp. I thought it might have been scabies but the doctor stated it was a reaction to a bug bite and that scabies don't infest the scalp and face, gave me anti-itch cream and wrote me off. After two weeks, I still itch but now it's accompanied by pins and needles sensation which increases the itching. I also get tiny pimple like bumps immediately followin the itch.

I've never had any issues with my hair, but all of I've noticed when washing it and brushing it alot more is coming out than normally would. And it is alot thinner in just a couple weeks. My scalp is itchy like no other and I've used ever dandruff shampoo, home remedies, even cortisone cream on my scalp...nothing seems to keep the itch away.
