Itchy scalp from rogaine

Common Questions and Answers about Itchy scalp from rogaine

itchy

Avatar m tn However, I stopped using it following advice from my GP, because my scalp became severely irritated, causing soreness and weeping. As a result, several lymph nodes appeared around the back of my head and neck. During this period I went on holiday to Menorca and my scalp was exposed to the sun and I wondered whether the reaction was due to this. For this reason, I decided to give regaine another try 5 years on, and predictably, I am even thinner on top than I was.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 25 year old male and over the past 7 months i have noticed an increase in the shedding of my hair. I first noticed that it looked as though the hair at my temples pushed back a little, so I saw a derm who said maybe mild MPB or telogen effluvium in either case he recommended Rogaine. I held off on starting the rogaine because I wasn't ready to commit to rogaine for life as I read was necessary for success.
Avatar f tn I am a 26-year-old female with no family history of female hair loss. Most men in my family also have their hair except for my father who has had some hair loss (but isn't completely bald). I recently saw a dermatologist for hair loss that had been occurring for a few years. He looked at my scalp and told me, after listening to my hair loss history, that it seemed to be early onset female pattern hair loss.
Avatar n tn Shoulder classic clean shampoo for oily scalp, Rogaine for hair loss, ketoconazole shampoo 2% for oily scalp, Clindamycin phosphate gel USP 1% for acne, and corticosteroids (such as fluocinolone acetonide) to reduce inflammation. Okay, first of all, Head & shoulder really does causes my hair to fall off more, so I kind of stop using it after the first month!
Avatar n tn The reason rogaine works is not because it has some super hair growth formula in it, it is because when using rogaine, you massage it in to your scalp. Basically waking those sleeping hair folicals. You can achieve the same result by strictly massaging your scalp for 3 to 5 minutes ever night when washing your hair. The best indication of a genetic hair loss is to look at your mothers father. If he had balding it was most likely bred into you.
Avatar n tn I JUST BOUGHT A BOX OF MINOXIDIL 5% (GENERIC ROGAINE) FROM WALGREENS AND I JUST GOT DONE READING IT AND IT SAYS ITS NOT FOR frontal hair baldness ( receding hairline loss). -What will happen if i use it for my frontal hair baldness? ( get more bald)? -Will this make my hair more thick? -What can i buy or do to save my hairline? -Do Rogaine / Scalp Med only work for (back of the head) baldness and not frontal hairline? Im planning on using MINOXIDIL soon on my hair, i hope it works.

Avatar m tn I have heard that some people take Rogaine to boost their hair growth and that this is the only medication that has been approved by the FDA for this. I've also heard that once you start taking Rogaine, you must continue to take it religiously or you will lose the hair again. Another option might be to look into hair plugs. This is where they take pieces of existing hair or "plugs" of hair, and transplant them to other parts of the scalp.
Avatar f tn Hello~Have you had a blood test for your thyroid? I would ask the doctor for a thyroid panel blood test, sometimes, if the thyroid is sluggish, a person can loose hair.
Avatar f tn It works similar to Rogaine but is natural and does not have the same side effects Rogaine has on some people. You must diffuse the oil and there are a lot of suggestions with what to diffuse it with. Almond, jojoba, castor oil appear to be the most common. For the past 6 months I have been using rosemary diffused with almond with particular attention to the front of my head. I feel like it might have worked a little.
Avatar f tn I am a 25 year old woman who has been suffering from hair loss since my teens. I have tried natural remedies, supplements, topical creams and so on but nothing has ever worked. My doctors have all come up with the explanation that it might be genetic( although everyone in my family has thick hair even when they are in their 70s). Has anyone encountered a similar situation?
Avatar n tn Thanks Heather. I'm not on any other med. I've been using Rogaine for a few mos. I wonder if it could be that - it makes my scalp itch. I'm thinking that it coud be the Avonex or Rogaine or possibly a symptom of something else. Thanks.
691935 tn?1421027090 Your hair follicles aren't blocked, malnourished or suffering from poor circulation. They're dying from DHT. This is what causes hair loss. Anything that will stop hair loss, cure baldness or regrow hair must block DHT or overpower its effects. This can only occur at the molecular level inside your body http://www.hairlossscams.
Avatar f tn Yes! I noticed that I'm starting to break out in the barely noticeable rashes, especially on my tummy and thighs.
Avatar n tn I am only 18!!!! I had ot get it cut very short as my scalp was visable. Can anyone recommned any treatment?
Avatar m tn Hi, I used dove body wash in the shower the other day and noticed that same night that I was itchy on random parts of my body (back, neck, scalp). I did NOT use the body wash on my hair and yet my scalp itches at times. It’s been three days of periodic itching on my face, scalp, shoulders, neck and back (with red bumps/spots scattered on my back and shoulders). 1) Could this periodic itching be from the dove body wash and if so, what do I have?
Avatar f tn I used Clobetesol solution (prescription) for my scalp. I had an itchy scalp which was associated with a rash on my scalp. It worked great.
Avatar f tn I'm on victrelis triple therapy and just recently started to develop really itchy scalp. Feeling like I want to scratch it right off. Any advice?
Avatar f tn t have scaly, flaky, itchy, red skin; just itchy scalp and some pimples. I also have had no hair loss; if only I could on my legs and underarms, ha ha. That's why I asked if it could be related to rosacea. Has anyone every heard of rosacea spreading to the scalp; I know it can affect your eyes.
Avatar n tn Just wondering if the itchy scalp is from the hair still falling out or trying to regrow between cycles. Is your sis on 3 weeks cycles? If it is itchy just before the next cycle that could be one aspect. Also it could be psoriasis or eczema if she is prone to it. These have an immune system link and you can have flare ups when run down so this could be an issue. If she has sensitive skin usually it will likely be even more sensitive.
8544739 tn?1399067859 The itchy scalp is from the change in hormones and also can be linked to lack of iron. The only help is to start taking extra iron and using a Eucalyptus/Lavender and Tea Tree Antiseptic spray. It may sting a bit but it will settle and it works. Changing shampoos etc does not work as it is not a result of a scalp issue as such, it is directly linked to the pregnancy or after pregnancy and hormones.
1041303 tn?1421387341 I am 13 weeks and for the last week I have extremely itchy scalp!! I have not changed my shampoos recently, and I don't have lice lol. I did start a high blood pressure pill last Monday, but can not find anything to do with that.
