67-year-old female with a red rash over the nose and a little on each side to the cheek area, both sides and forehead. It appears to be butterfly shaped. Not itchy, is scaly. Have raised red bumps from time to time that are very painful and last sometimes for weeks. The painful bumps will disappear and then re-appear for no "apparent" reason. They can leave a red purplish scar-like area when they are gone. I thought it oculd be lupus at first but I do not feel ill.
I came across this blog a few months ago when I was looking for a cure to my rash that had suddenly appeared around my nose - a red, itchy, bumpy and basically ... angry rash. It was driving me mad and made me really conscious. Compared to some of the other bloggers, I had the rash for a relatively short time! - 4 weeks.
Hello, I am struggling with a red, itchy rash on my face, specifically around my nose creases and upper lip area, and also under my lip. For years I have dealt with it off and on. It is accompanied by a hot burning sensation and often becomes scaly and flaky. In the past it has become infected with staph and was treated with antibiotics. I use mild cetaphyl soap and eucerin to calm it. Sometimes I use olive or coconut oil.
I have a rash on the upper body. appeared over a year ago and it's not itchy or painful, just red, inflamed, and flaky. at first it was just one spot, but now it's 3 right next to each other, but otherwise, it's not spreading. i tried cortizone cream, moisturizer, cool showers, and covering it up with a band-aid to keep fabric from rubbing against it, but nothing works. any help?
Dengue virus may present as a rash but this is associated with fever and other symptoms like nose and gum bleeding in severe forms. Was there any previous history of travel? Any exposure to new pets at home?
I am a 34 year old woman. I have had a red dry itchy rash under my nose for 3 months that won't go away. Occasionally, tiny whiteheads will develop. I pop them and they go away but eventually come back in the same place. I've tried putting intense lotion on which helped with the dryness but not with the redness. I've also tried putting antiseptic cream on containing phenol (1.20%), zinc oxide (6.55%), methyl salicylate (3%) and octafonium chloride (0.3%).
Earlier this week, I had a day of very severe fatigue. That night, I woke up at 3 am with a severe itchy rash covering most of my body, especially my legs, buttocks, and trunk, as well as my upper chest. I took a Claritin which eased the itching but didn't diminish the rash. I saw my primary care doctor that day because I was feeling very under the weather.
Hi, I got this really annoying itchy rash 2 weeks after giving birth vaginally to my daughter. medicine and sarna lotion don't seem to work. It itches even more when I scratch and at night. I heard other moms had postpartum rash too. What can I do to alleviate the itch and what is the cause? I breastfeed and it's unbearable at night with the itch.
To this day, I tend to have slight facial outbreaks on the flares of my nose, the crease of my chin, and the left side of my face. It usually happens after I go on a few day coughing and sneezing jag. I have an appointment with a crack dermatologist, but this is driving me nuts. What the heck could this be? No fever. No weight loss. I saw a Fungal specialist and he looked at me and did a cursory examination and didn't feel it was a fungus problem and didn't do any testing.
On June 20th I sent an email about a rash on my nose. I tried your suggested Bacitracin Ointment applied 2x a day. My rash cleared up. Yahoo! I continued to use Bacitracin 2x a day, not missing a day. I do not pick, scratch or rub roughly the rash area at all. Seven days later it has come back with a vengence. Blisters started in inside nose again, by next day started in 4 other places. Blister and then crusted over, red! Very itchy and tingly when first showing up. Do I continue the Bacitracin?
Hello, It can be due to boils inside the nose. However to confirm the diagnosis, a culture sensitivity of the discharge from the bumps can be done. In case of boil inside the nose which is infection of the hair follicle inside the nose, it takes its own course for a week or so in healing and no treatment may be required. Apply warm moist compresses three or four times a day over the tender area. This will help to bring the boil to a head and encourage easy drainage.
yesterday i woke up and had a rash across my face... from just under each eye, and across the nose... Once again i'm using aloa in hopes it will help, along with attempting to keep the area as clean as possible... I was actually wondering if this could be a side affect of quiting smoking... since the toxins in smoke obviously coat your skin with a layer of waterproof poisent basically, quiting will give it a chance to be expelled from your poors is what i'm thinking...
Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. Rosacea is a cutaneous disorder primarily of the central part of the face , such as forehead; cheeks ;nose; and chin. The exact cause of rosacea is not known. The basic process seems to involve dilation of the small blood vessels of the face.
For the last 3 months I have been getting a red rash around my mouth, it's mostly on my chin and under nostrils. although is not itchy,I took benadryl for a week but it made no difference. Could this be a hormoral issue? I'm 35.

Hi, i have a red rash in the creses of my nose and it has been there for over a year now, it will not go away and i have tried so many creams but none of them help, i have also been to the doctor and they gave me an anti bacterial cream which didnt help at all.
The very next morning, I had a small itchy rash about the size of a dime, form on my chin. A week later the rash grew and spread up to under my nose. Since that time, it has grown to the size you see in the picture. I have now been to the my dermatologist twice in the last 30 days, only to see her Nurse Practioner who started me on erythromycin and Cleocin-T the time (neither did anything) the first visit.
The rash was red, blotchy and kind of C-shaped, although not itchy or flaky. Since that time, the rash comes and goes (eg, fades) but hasn't resolved. It sometimes shows up under my nose/ above my mouth, and a couple times across the bridge of my nose, like a butterfly rash. Recently, one cheek has started to fade, but the other is persisting. Any idea what this could be? I have seen two dermatologists; both said eczema although that seems unlikely to me, since it's not itchy at all.
Lately I’ve been getting it more often, once or twice a month, and not only around my right eye but it has spread to an area under my nose and my chin. I feel it spreads more and more every time I get it. It starts by getting red and slightly inflamed. Then it starts to itch (a lot!) and if I scratch it, it weeps. The liquid turns yellowish and it creates some kind of scab. A few days later it dries up to the point that it flakes off. I’m not sure if it’s an allergy or a skin conditions.

Hi there, I've had a itchy rash just near the sides of my nostril for 3 months now. I've seen 2 doctors and am now about to try my second topical cream. The rash it dry, scaly and very itchy. The strangest part is that when I went away for 2 1/2 weeks to europe, the rash almost completely disappeared, and then as soon as I returned home to Toronto, it not only came back, but now it's spreading.
Hello, I have been dealing with an inflammed, itchy, red rash above my eyebrows for about a year now. I have SLE (Lupus) and it was originally thought that this was part of the malar rash I have on my cheeks. However, I believe it to be something else since it is itchy and does not go away as frequently as the malar rash.
I have had an itchy, blistering rash with numerous lesions for several months. At first I believed it to be poison oak, but the lesions will not resolve, and new ones continue to appear, despite having no further contact with the plant. The lesions are on my upper thighs, calves, and arms, and I recently developed one below one nostril, another on the middle finger of my right hand, and today a new one is forming on the same finger of the left hand.
Now we are up to date and the current situation is, for some reason my face and cheeks no longer seem to flare up with this redness everyday, but instead i have this massive itchy rash that kind of makes me look like i have caught the sun and have white sunglasses marks!
I took her to the doctor and he was able to see the hive-like area of her arm that was still hot to the touch and a smooth, red, lacy-like, not itchy rash on her body still. She has not had a fever since Friday and has never, at any point, been nauseous or had a runny nose or diarrhea. He prescribed two medications (Cefadroxil and Prednisolone) and we began giving them to her that afternoon. The rash seemed to subside and the patch on her arm was not as flared up.
It is extremely itchy. And swells like i have silicone injections under my skin. This has been Spreading from the size of in ingrown hair on my hip to 10" patches on my thighs, shins, feet, butt, sides of my torso, inside of my belly button, my armpits, triceps, elbows, and underside of my forearms. But is does not seem to really effect the top side of my fore arm or biceps. My face is not effected by this. My scalp has also shown up with these "boggy" dime sized itchy swells.
