I have a 5 year old daughter who developed a spotty rash on her trunk about 2-3 weeks ago. She has stated that they have not been very itchy, I have not seen her scratch herself at all regarding this. I have a very bad rash that started with pin point blistering. Very itchy now spread all over body. I have recently been changed over from Dilantin to Tegretol for seizures and ever since I have had this rash. Going on 2 months. I have been very irritable and short of breath having to use my nebulizer to compensate. Doctor has been moving and I have not been able to see her. I researched on internet and found that I have some of the symptoms but not all of the symptoms for this drug change.

You don't know you have it until a red, lacy rash appears all over your face, arms, legs and trunk. Usually the child looks like they have been slapped in the face. By the time the rash appears, the child is over the contagious stage and actually on to feeling better. Treat like flu. Rest, fluid. It will go away in a few days. And sometimes, the rash will look better after resting, only to get redder after the child has been active.
But it has other associated signs and symptoms such as cough, runny nose, inflamed eyes, sore throat, fever and a red, blotchy skin rash. Hives or urticaria causes red and sometimes itchy rash on the body such as face, neck, trunk, arms, and legs and perhaps anywhere on the body. They are usually allergic (food, medication and insect stings) but may also be due to infections and stress. Many a times no specific cause for them is ever found.

Now the redness has extended to much of belly area, upper thighs, around sides of stomach, somewhat on buttocks. Not flaky, raised or itchy, just red/dark pink. It is intermittant redness, not continual, but once the redness onsets, it doesn't go away. Some areas fairly large, others small, in different shapes around my body. May be related to being very overweight (about 70 lbs.) which I am trying to reduce by diet and exercise.
I've noticed over the past two years that I get small, very slightly raised red blotches (about the size of a pea) that occur on my trunk and sometimes upper-arms/shoulders. Usually I have 1 or 2, but sometimes I may have up to 15 at a time. Most often they present themselves on the sides of my torso where my ribs end, however, they are sometimes closer to my back, front and occasionally on my biceps/shoulders.

Then it is followed by a distinctive, generalized rash 1-2 weeks later. The rash lasts approximately 2-6 weeks and is found in a Christmas tree pattern over the trunk and abdomen. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. Treatment can be started only when the diagnosis is confirmed. I sincerely hope that helps.

If you are a young male with a trunk rash that the dewrmatologist treated with an antifungal that worked, you most likely have tinea versicolor, a noncotagious fungus that can also affect the groin. Your ash certainly does not sound like an STD. If butenafine hasn't worked on it, you ought to re-consult your skin dcotor and ask for another evaluation. It may be just a matter of using a different cream. But I doubt your sexual contact has anything to do with it. Best. Dr.

My 4y old child developed a non-itchy rash about 2wks ago. It starts as a red tiny bumpy spot which then flattens, becomes less intensely red (perhaps even yellowish), increases in diameter (from 1 mm to up to 7mm,majority around 3mm). It may loose its round shape (can be round but others are oval) edges are not clear and the whole surface of the rash seems bumpy. So far the rash is strictly limited to the trunk.
The first sign is usually a tingling feeling, itchiness, or stabbing pain on the skin. After a few days, a rash appears as a band or patch of raised dots on the side of the trunk or face. The rash develops into small, fluid-filled blisters which begin to dry out and crust over within several days. When the rash is at its peak, symptoms can range from mild itching to extreme and intense pain. Treatment of shingles includes antiviral drugs, steroids, analgesics and anti viral eye drops.
